Personality

Vicanti, since having an abused childhood, tends keep his loner mentality. That's not to say he won't seek others out for comfort, company, etc., but he views everyone with the utter most distrust before making alliances. This, while keeping him alive all these years, has caused him to push those away that would likely have become friends. Still, though, he feels most comfortable in a crowd, where he can be with the people and be alone at the same time.

Vicanti has no solid code of ethics, rather, his morals are those that keep him safe from harm. He understands that all actions have consequences, and going with the grain of society is far easier than against. Too, is he aware the difference between good and evil – just and unjust – conduct. However, while he knows certain atrocities should never (or rarely) be committed, such as cold-blooded murder, rape, torture, etc., he has little qualms with stealing or other crimes that aid in his survival or betterment of life.

Vicanti is a firm believer in the Light. Not in the sense that a paladin is, and perhaps less than a common citizen, but he believes a man should do good where possible. He accepts the idea of eye for an eye, often in the most literal sense, gladly teaching a lesson to those he believes do wrong, whether it be those who harm innocents, or simply slaughtering undead (Forsaken or not) for the sake of being a walking corpse.

History

Vicanti's childhood was that of an orphan, perhaps not a typical orphan, but the majority of his growing up was without parents. His mother died during childbirth; his father, grief stricken, abandoned his child, dying swiftly in battle at the onset of the Second War. He was immediately put in the Stormwind orphanage, where he lived until the age of ten, when he, with his newly budding defiant attitude, decided the streets was a better place for him. It was deep into winter when he left the home of forgotten children, and every day was a struggle for survival.

For a little more than a decade, Vicanti made the streets into his home - his playground. The life of a street urchin was harsh and unforgiving, but it made him into the strong-willed adult he is today. Not a day went by he didn't have to steal; he even ended the lives of a few men. Pious nobles and the city's militia were the bane of his existence, making it his petty thievery harder with each passing day. He took many severe beatings, some by his fellow vagrants. He took to street gangs for protection, though often they'd discard him after he outlived his usefulness. It seemed no one would help him, that everyone sought to make his life hell. However, throughout his years on the streets, he met a few good souls who were willing to aid him – teach him to fight, steal without getting caught, how to gain respect, and most importantly, give him a warm place to sleep for the night.

Around the time he turned twenty, Vicanti decided it was time for him to move on to better things. He felt that the streets, like he had to various gangs, outlived its purpose. He had become a competent fighter, a cunning thief, a devious con artist. However, deeper down inside, he believed it was time he did a little good in the world. Too long he had sucked on the breast of life; he wanted to leave the walls of Stormwind – to which he had always been confined – and make an honest living. This honesty, though, was not far from what he had done his whole life. For nearly another decade after his departure from Stormwind, Vicanti found work as a mercenary and hired muscle. Rarely did a day's pay come from less than shattering a man's (or orc's or gnoll's) arm.

He now lives wherever the wind, and gold, will take him. As of late, Vicanti has taken to fighting in the Ratchet Arena, though often for little more than betting money. The thrill of the fight soothes his restless spirit, and he is scarcely seen far from conflict.
