Player: Beltharean

Character Full Name: Tres Lockheart the Second

Character In-Game Name: Tres

Nickname(s): N/A

Association(s): Stuck in a moral gray area, Tres is hard pressed to find any major group that will accept him; as such, any associations are usually short and minimal.

Race: Human

Class: Warlock

Age: 25

Sex: Male

Hair: Brown, kept somewhat shaggy and slightly unkempt.

Eyes: Green

Weight: 170 Lbs.

Height: 6 ft.

Appearance

Usual Garments/Armor: Tres usually maintains a modest appearance, if not simply as a subconscious portrayal of a modest personality, for a lack of funds. They usually come in a neutral to light coloured tone, and are accompanied by a midsize dagger or long staff. His robes always have several hidden pockets, normally one on his right leg, disguised as a fold in the robe, and another on the interior of the garment. A wand rests in either of these, for obvious reasons.

Other: To maintain his lack of arcane/fel corruption, Tres visits the church every eight to ten weeks to receive an atonement for any misdeeds he may have committed; Be it having to drain the soul of an enemy (Which he views as evil), or cast a spell with an ‘Evil' descriptor. In any case, this is a rather common occurrence, normally late at night between several priests who know and acknowledge Tres as a functioning member of society. These priests are the only ones who know Tres' secret (That he is, of course, a warlock) aside from one librarian at the Stormwind Library who will occasionally help Tres by sneaking forbidden books to him.

Alignment: Lawful Good

Personality

Tres is extremely protective of the few friends that he may come across, not willing to give them up for the simple fact that not many are willing to accept him once they find out his secret vice. Most people don't understand his reasoning behind “Fighting fire with fire,” and as such, he can sometimes smother any possible friends with kindness and affection. That's not to say he'll begin complimenting strangers on the street, but if he and another have been formally introduced, compliments are sure to ensue.

Despite his kind nature, he can become somewhat paranoid within the walls of Stormwind, for fear of being wrongfully judged as an evil practitioner of dark magics. His ultimate goal is to become strong enough that he can prove his method of going about fighting the legion (and other enemies of the Alliance) is worth attempting, so that he can show himself in the daylight and be accepted instead of burnt on a stake.

Having grown up as the son of a priestess, Tres is a devoted man of the light, his faith wavered in the Third War; But now, being in Stormwind once more, his faith has been reaffirmed by the priests.

History

Tres grew up on a side street of the Trade District in Stormwind to a mage turned handyman, and a priestess mother. His father was a kindly man, in his mid thirties when Tres was born; and his mother, who was in her late twenties at the time was even kinder (However, she wore the pants in the relationship). Tres the Second's grandfather was born in Dalaran, and as such trained his son in the ways of the mage. Tres (the first) excelled in transmutation, conjuration, and illusory magic, but was less than adequate in the abjuration schools of fire, ice, arcane, acid, etc. It was this that lead the young man to finish his studies in Stormwind, where his skills could be given to the people.

While there in the Trade District, transmuting bricks into bread for peasants, and conjuring tools for masons and the like, Tres the First met his son's mother, the training priestess Esther. The two hit it off instantly, Esther in her mid twenties, and Tres in his early thirties. After several years, they were engaged and soon married at the Church of Stormwind. Another year later, Esther was pregnant with their first (and only) child.

Nine months later, Tres the Second was born. From the instant he was home, his father lavished affection on him, leaving his priestess mother to doll out any punishments that might need to be had (she had experience from the orphanage, and... Tres the First wasn't one for confrontation any how). In this manner he grew, and once he came of reading age, Tres was given a beginner's guide to arcane magic. By the time he was ten, Tres was able to cast rudimentary arcane spells, and conjure chocolate hearts for his ‘Girlfriend' (He ate most of them, and the ones he did give to his crush were given secretly, so she never knew who her secret admirer was).

At the age of fifteen, Tres was sent to Dalaran by his father. There was a rather large banquette in Tres' honor, with a rather large gathering of neighbors, school age friends, and his girlfriend (Who was actually his girlfriend this time around). Somewhat grudgingly, he left her and his parents for Dalaran; However, that attitude was quickly changed when he stepped foot through a portal (painstakingly) created by his father, into the grand city of Dalaran itself.

Here, within several months, he began doing slightly above adequate in all of his classes. There was one class however, that wasn't sanctioned by the city's magocrats he was interested in; A secret class in warlockery, that Tres only watched. Some of what he saw disgusted him, but it did seem rather practical. Portals created with fel were twice as large, and lasted ten times as long. With that, he studied rudimentary warlock spells, learning only what he thought was practical.

That is, until the undead scourge came, attacking Dalaran. When the undead masses pushed through Dalaran's barriers, Tres saw that the warlocks ended up having the highest survival rate; Be it using hooks of binding, or calling infernals down to destroy groups of enemies, they were nearly as powerful as the archmagi of the beloved city.

Tres sprinted back to his hidden warlockery classroom, and grabbed as many books as he possibly could, loading them onto his horse. The warock-to-be galloped his mount out of Dalaran, and to the south. On his way back to Stormwind (afraid of traveling there by portal in case the Scourge had taken it over as well. Showing up depleted of mana would be a terrible idea if that was the case...) Tres studied deeper into the magic of warlocks, finding it more and more practical. Killing squirrels and other simple forest animals, Tres practiced his skills.

By the time his voyage to Stormwind ended, he was that much more proficient with Fel, and that much more out of practice with typical arcane. However, after casting particular spells, Tres felt a sudden urge to commit violent acts, and to further cast the corrupting magic. His childhood lessons from his mother flashed through his mind, and while in Stormwind his studies furthered into the practical uses of Fel, and how to avoid it's corruption.

After recalling his mother's discussion with his father about a criminal atoning for his sins at the church, Tres found more information about the holy spell, and found his means to an end. By avoiding the more evil and cruel spells, and having a scheduled atonement, Tres pushed deeper into his studies. Traveling back north (By a fel tainted portal this time, to get more bang for his buck) Tres aided in the tail end of the Third War, killing multitudes of undead Scourge in return for their destruction of his beloved city.

As the third war closed, Tres moved into Stormwind, where he searched for a mentor. As it seems, if you ask the right people, finding warlocks isn't exactly hard. Posing as a typical warlock trainee, Tres managed to bide his time until he found an aging warlock, looking for a repentance of sorts from his sins as he looked back on a life of death, corruption, and misdeeds.

Tres helped the man get an in with one of the priests helping him in the Church, and in return the warlock gave Tres lessons in fel. This situation lasted until the Dark Portal opened once more. Seeing this as an opportunity to test his skills against enemies of mankind once more, Tres went into Outland, enslaving demons and pitting them against one another as he sent balls of fel flames at other demons.

Even in Shattrath however, the City of Refugees, Tres wasn't welcome. The refugees were afraid of fel magic, and most within the upper reaches of the city were too devoted (and blinded) by faith in the light to accept his kind. So, Tres lived in the forests, forced to have a summoned demon stand as a guard through the night, however uncomfortable his traveling partner might make him.

After the Burning Crusade, Tres went to the snowy netherlands of Northrend where he helped fight in the Nexus war; For obvious reasons. Here he was slightly more accepted by the people, for the simple fact his aid was required, and the Argent Tournament accepted his kind. They needed the power of the Warlocks to halt the undead onslaught.

Now he resides deep within Elwynn forest, studying further in Fel, making midnight excursions to Stormwind from time to time for books, more research, and Atonements. Over time his identity was revealed to more people besides the one priest in the church to several priests, and a bookkeeper in the Library; These people understood Tres' ideas, encouraging him to continue as a vigilante of sorts. Through all of the Atonements, and continued exposure to the priests, Tres ended up becoming a religious man once again (His faith being wavered in the Third War), devout to the light, while being devoted to his study of Fel.
