Thanka is the quiet type, partly from xenophobia and partly from diffidence, when Thanka does speak he usually asks questions about other peoples and societies for he doesn't know much. He is not violent nor does he enjoy violence, however he is not a pacifist and will fight in defense of himself, though he does try his best not to kill. Thanka feels akin to only Tauren, Orcs, and Troll. Thanka can tolerate Night Elves but finds the rest of the Alliance to be bothersome, he especially doesn't like Draenei for their off-world backgrounds. Despite is loyalty to the Horde, Thanka has a great contempt for Blood Elves and Forsaken. He dislikes Blood Elves for the stench of corrupt magic on them and Forsaken because they are undead, despite these opinions, Thanka will never take any action unless he is acted upon.

History

Thanka was born into a hunter clan of the Bigpaws, a clan under the Bloodhoof Tribe. He lived an average life with his brothers and fathers hunting various Barrens animals.

Thanka was diffident even in his adolescence, living in the shadow of his bolder and more virile older brothers. He had few friends and was estranged by his parents who wished him to be more abrasive. This ostracism drove him into the wilds, where he would talk to and care for small animals.

Ten years before Thanka became of age his father was killed by centaurs while hunting. This greatly angered Thanka's family and his older brothers took up arms with other members of the tribe to finish the centaur off. Thanka initially had joined his brothers and the other braves on their raids but was asked to stay home when he fell sick at the sight of centaur blood. The rag tag group of braves defended against the centaur until Thrall's Horde arrived.

Thanka like most other Tauren accepted the orcs but did not interact with them closely, he only spoke with Orcs enough to learn their langauge. Thanka did however grow to accept the Orcs faster than others because they helped defend against the centaur that had killed his father. Thanka's brothers however took well to the Orcs and followed Thrall's army as warriors. Thanka being the youngest was to stay and care for his elderly mother.

Thanka cared for his mother doing odd jobs around Thunderbluff and occasionally going into the wilds to hunt for meat, eventually Thanka could no longer afford ammunition and could not make it himself, so he sold his bow for money. When Thanka had turned 67 he finally ran out of money, when he gave his elderly mother the news she took it badly, the stress was too much for her and she had a heart attack and died. After Thanka's brothers had come to Thunderbluff to attend the funeral Thanka decided he had no reason to stay in Mulgore and set out to explore the wider world of Kalimdor in search of food and work.
