Thane is an outlaw by nature, but he's not completely immoral. He believes in honor amongst criminals and will usually give a fellow outlaw the benefit of a doubt. He's a little more socialized as an adult and has turned his attention from outright thievery towards less attention grabbing crimes, like grifting and rigging card games. He's got a strong moral stance against messing with people he's in business with, and honestly prefers not to harm those who don't pose him any harm.

History

Thane comes from a long line of outlaws. His folks were traveling vagabonds and grifters who paid no loyalty to any kingdom, and he grew up in the company of outlaws, bandits and thieves. He realized when he was a young lad that he'd never be as quick or lithe as many of his peers, nor did he have the brutal strength to simply ambush his marks; he needed an ace up his sleeve. Thane received his first gun at the age of sixteen from a trader who's caravan his bandit gang had captured, trading the Dwarven gunsmith his freedom for the firearm, some bullets and a quick lesson.

Thane's organization eventually traveled south from Lordaeron into Stormwind territory where they plied their trade by day and drank their profits by evening. Their stay however, was short, as Thane's cousin received a shattered jaw by an enraged guardswoman they had conned in a game. Despite the band's nomadic ways, Thane got a small name for himself with his weapon, and took up a natural position as guardian, defending his gang. The band was connected to several others across Human and Elven lands for trading of loot and intel, and as such was able to stay away from active war zones, avoiding the first and second wars all together by poising as refugees during the battles.

The band eventually fell upon hard times, and they sunk back to Lordaeron, once more in the guise of refugees. Thane eventually left them, and headed to Andorhal after hearing rumors of trouble there, hoping to sell his services as a mercenary. When he arrived, he found only death. The Scourge was well under way, and his presence was detected immediately. After a valorous battle, Thane fell to the wave of the dead.

Thane doesn't know all of what he did while he was a mindless slave to the Lich King, but his memories begin leaking back in shortly before Arthas' return to the frozen throne, and the images of his actions are something he locks away deep in his mind. But eventually he was freed. Thane was around for the forging of the Undercity and the rising of Sylvanas as Dark Lady of the Forsaken.

Thane set out on his own to find out what became of his parents and his band. After months of following leads, he found his own headstone. Digging through the mud to open an empty coffin, all he found within was his old firearm. No other lead followed back to his family, and so resigned himself to his new unlife, and began to seek to polish his skills.

Thane returned to a life of the vagabond, and today he wanders.
