His belt carries magical potential as well; creating a shield around him which soaks up whatever damage (to an extent) flies at him. Needless to say, all his engineering bits can misfire and thus, become a rather great danger. (In order, Nitro Boosts, Hand-Mounted Pyro Rocket, Nigh-Invulnerability Belt, all available to Engineers.)

Personality

Sparks is a rather whimsical individual. He usually greets with a cranky wide grin and is fairly talkative – despite the fact that he is Undead, he has certain hints of being influenced by Gnomes in personality. Indeed, he can appear fairly crazy or nuts at times; his explanations of his machinery often being fairly elaborate, adoring to work with such machinery. A deep fascination of how exactly everything works, to the very core drives him to further experiment and toy around with what he possesses. Afer he had heard tales of beings entirely consisting of metal, he pondered about the possibility of creating artificial life.

He cares little for race or gender; having no excessive loyalty to anyone but the Engineering and the very few friends he possesses. Indeed, he can be quite philosophical about Engineering and life; be it artificial or normal, he would not care but instead debate and discuss it – a truly fascinating topic which was only further emphasised by the fact that he was undead. Another fascination is about his own body; how he can modify it further to improve it. So far, he has done little, merely using his empty chest cavity as storage room for his works.

At worst, he can be destructive, cold and calculating. But only, to those he would truly hate. Luckily, such has not occurred as of yet, for his nature has allowed him to consider mockery as jests. A playful nature does indeed twirl about himself, behind that twisted personality of his.

History

Sparks, born as Marcellus Livingston had a fairly average childhood, by the standards of Lordaeron. His father was a rather gruff Sergeant in the military of Lordaeron, his mother being an Arcanist who had a fairly large fascination with the High Elves, often surrounding herself with them. But that is another entirely different story. Born in a town in the southern lands of Lordaeron, there is not much to tell of – his mother insisting that he walked the path of an Arcanist, while his father wanted him to take up arms. Eventually, his mother won the conflict and Sparks began training under a local Arcanist, studying the Arcane, its dangers and everything revolving about it. But there's more. Next to his house, was a workshop run by a gnome. Often, he found himself mesmerised by the trinkets and things the owner created; sometimes spending afternoons over there. Thus, he picked up two arts at the same time; the Arcane and Engineering.

Time passed, the first war ravaged over the lands – but not Lordaeron. Being fairly unaffected by it, he merely continued his studies, having become a fairly good Arcanist over the course of time, still learning under his gnomish mentor about the arts of Engineering; the two having become fairly good friends over the course of time. At this point of time, both of his parents were still alive, despite the original conflict that they had about his path, they did care for him quite the lot; his father essentially having a hard shell and a soft core. Soon, however, his father was being called away into the second war, bidding him goodbye. Merely continuing his studies, one day – once Stormwind had been conquered again and the orcs been driven back, his father returned home. Greeting him with a warm embrace, Sparks was fairly happy that he survived – who'd want their father to die, really?

Soon, however, his gnomish mentor called Marcellus away. Waving goodbye to his parents, they, the gnome and Sparks himself began travelling the lands – having his books abut the Arcane in his bag, he continued his studies during the roaming. At several points, they passed Stormwind, Ironforge and even Gnomeregan, even spending almost three months there before they continued their path. Just before the third war began, the pair returned into the lands of Lordaeron.

And then, the Undead began to roam the lands. Eager to defend, Marcellus joined his father; using his Engineering and Arcane abilities to try and destroy whatever foe came in his path. Sadly, his mother was not trained for combat, more being a scholar herself rather than anything else. As such, she remained behind the frontline. The Undead and their restless endeavours sadly could not be stopped. However, Sparks instead fell to the misfire of a dwarven marksman rather than the Undead himself. A pitiful death.

But that was only the beginning. Being raised into servitude, he found himself as a Zombie; lumbering and shambling the lands. Well, until... he managed to gain a hold of his mind. Being rallied under the flag of Sylvannas, he trotted into the capital of the Forsaken; only to reunite with his father. He died as well, only to be raised into servitude, breaking free from it. The fate of his mother was fairly unknown to him, but reports say, that she teleported herself away into the city of Stormwind to escape a certain death. His gnomish mentor clung to his mother's leg, and escaped the clutches of the Scourge, as well. Establishing himself in the new society he found himself in, his studies on Engineering continued, his Arcane abilities still being trained, but not as his first priority.

As Northrend became available over the course of the war, he made his way there. And by chance, he ran across his mother when he was in Dalaran. Needless to say, she didn't recognise him at first – but his rather peculiar personality and the fact that he carried several gadgets around with him gave away the fact of who he was. By now, he had adapted the name 'Sparks', his original name was forgotten over the course of his undeath in the grasp of the Scourge.

Telling his mother about the stories; the things that had occurred to him, and the fact that his father was still alive, he asked her about the location of his former mentor. And that, is his next destination.
