Personality

Alignment: Rather-chaotic Leaning-on-good

Outspoken and witty.

Singe is a deep thinker and kind heart commited to maximising what is to be perieved. He is an introvert with a thick mask of extroversion that can often come across as brash. While he has a severe issue with authority he finds illegitimate, especially formal statal authority, military and academic experience allow him to become a good follower when he so chooses. He opposes most kinds of judgement that are based on anything other than merit and tries to make the logical decisions for his well-being. A notorious thrillseeker, Singe takes pleasure in close to any adrenaline-generating endeavour.

Singe has strong independence of mind, seeking freedom from the constraints of tradition-based convention. He is a strong individualist who seeks new angles or novel ways of looking at things and enjoys coming to new types of understanding. He adores little more than to associate with similar people.

He trusts his vision of how the world should be regardless of what others think. He is dedicated to the idea that the best model for the world can be obtained only through the objective observation of as much of it as possible. He believes that individuals should strive towards excellence, with the chosen needing to accumulate said excelence in as many fields as possible. He believes that with a select few attaining the insight for correct vision and with their true multilateral development, the world can be allowed to develop into superior stages.

History

Singerius was the child of Shindara Highstride, a pyromancer of renown, and her lover, Thelin Narmolanya. Singe would know Oreollor Highstride, teacher of Arcane Arts at the Silvermoon Academy and former priest of the light to be his father throughout all of his youth. His first years evolved under the conflict between the excellence-seeking desires for him of his father and his mother's desire to make him a free spirited individual. Constantly pressured yet sheltered by the noble ways of high elven society, Singerius (so named after his grandfather on his father's side) has always tried to maintain his spirit and personality while never directly opposing his father's authority for many years.

Fire magic having been his subject of choice, he has studied with great mages of Quel'Thalas as well as with the Kirin Tor. By the time of graduating from the Silvermoon academy with degrees in the arcane arts, law and drama, another great war seemed imminent. While it was done in opposition to his father's wishes, Azial spoke to himself of “past glory" and of "virtue the old man was hardly worthy of” while taking a position of squireship with the the Church of Holy light by the time the second war was in full swing. Thanks to being adept at the elimination of the most vile threats, and amassing deep insight into the nature of fel and shadow magic, Singe soon rose to the rank of Knight. The transfer from wielding the arcane he had been trained with was difficult, but eventually he found himself wielding the light with increasing proficiency, holy fire most notably. At the time of the third war, Singerius became aligned with the Silver Hand. Within the organisation, most of his duty related to the training of recruits. Through these wars, he became ingrained with martial culture and thinking.

Yet as the third war developed in scope, summons came, urgently calling him to the Eversong estate owned by his family. This turned out to have been a means for the House Highstride and its private security force to insure the survival of their own as the conflict grew to climax. Highstride was pressured to stay in hiding as the onslaught took place and reluctantly accepted, of which he is remorseful until today.

Outraged and ashamed that he and his family had been in retreat at a countryside estate as the Sunwell fell and now having become a blood elf hardly by choice, Singe began preparing his departure from the estate and the break from all that was Highstride. Although he thought that his lost ability to cast the light’s magic was a result of the Sunwell’s loss, he would soon find that he himself no longer held native divine ability himself, having lost true faith.

Searching for purpose, he began to seek the most unorthodox teachers of the kinds of magic he hoped could still hold some purity, those that would be willing to try to teach a fel-child their craft. Though druidic and shamanic teachers guided him through teachings and meditations, he was never truly able to get through to the spirits or nature themselves. Untimately a rational creature, if one with an open mind, Singe could not delve deeply enough into the abstract mysticism of druidism or shamanism. Never truly reaching true communion with nature, he was left merely with the phylosophy and theory of the arts of nature. Telling himself the fel and arcane within were to blame and without an alternative, he turned to the study of mechanics, delving for a while into the world of technology and armaments especially. Also beginning to study channeling arcane fire once more, he began to regularly use a spellgun for his fire-casting, and to use arcane anew for the usage of transportation magic and scrying.

In the following years, he became a competent mercenary, hiring out his re-trained flame-hand to all but the most horrid of employers. The period also served to teach him to cope with a harder life, maturing him as all the theoretical knowledge accumulated sometimes clashed with and sometimes explained the occurrences and events of "real life". While with his family, the need for energy had always been provided for and sated. Once alone, providing for this need proved the greatest challenge, searching tome after tome, teacher after techer, for means to avoiding the consumption of fel.

Once materially well off and capable of supporting his many expensive hobbies, Singe no longer accepted morally questionable contracts and instead turned much of his attention to teaching and research within Dalaran's halls.

After several years of climbing both the mercenary and teaching ladders available to a renaissance elf such as himself, Singerius went on to also enter politics in leading the public face of the Light of Nova, the Novalight House’s umbrella organisation, handling public relations, negotiations and the (mostly) legal side of business ventures. Satisfied with the basis set in these areas of the Light of Nova, Singe took a back seat within the organisation. While still pursuing academic goals, the elf went on to perform as an officer in Dalaran's Frostbrand Project as the ship's Chief Technician.

Attaining any higher rank within Dalaran's academic micro-universe seemed unlikely. Many of the members would live long lives and take up quite limited tenured positions. Yet with Solace opening up and new positions becoming available, Singerius was honoured to be awarded the position of professor of Martial Magic within the new teaching staff.

In near perfect accordance with his background as former military, martial teacher, mercenary and leadership, he took to Dalaran's Warmage training and apprenticeship like a fish to water, giving full focus to the endeavor and to perfecting the craft for most of the years after the third war and up to the Shattering. While some of the elder Warmages still held reserves about his capacity to reign in execessive impulse, his performance on battlefields and in tense situations carried him through graduation.

With the Shattering, though, the Solace project was no more and as such, Singerius applied for full induction into the Kirin Tor. He has always been close to the organisation and was now ready for full commitment to what had anyway become his true home for over a hundred years. In a broken world at war, he seeks to travel, teach and stand for noble causes so as to bring Kirin Tor rationality and desire for constructive peace by imparting knowledge and the Dalaran way of thinking.

Skills and Abilities

Warmage: "The generations of warfare on Azeroth have given warmages time to hone useful spells into simple and secret rituals, called "battlemagics", which are passed from one warmage to another. Warmages are proficient with all basic melee and ranged weapons, they typically prefer to wield a sword in one hand, for defense, and a staff in the other, to focus and channel their magical power. As warmages accompany warriors into battle, they become more skilled at defending themselves than other wizards. They develop greater martial skill in the crucible of battle."

Pyro: Singerius's core training is in pyromancy and as such he uses it as the main type of offensive magic. Awe: With insight into Warmagics, Singe has become able to create visually massive exhibitions of fiery release for purposes of battlefield intimidation.

Duelist: Military training, mecenary experience and combat theory have contributed to making Azial a nimble and competent duelist with light blades. Unfailing Blade: Warmagics have contributed to also maximising this field by direct usage of channeled arcane into armed combat.

Scryer: Singe is adept at detection, magical scanning, at reading magic or mental traces and leylines. Eye in the Sky: Warmagic training has allowed Singe to also begin to practice such scrying remotely.[/color]

Techie: Highstride often uses spellguns and engineered devices for combat customised to tasks such as automated nets, traps, potion injectors or explosives.
