Personality

Scarlett is pious, heavily so. With each move she wonders if the Light would approve, and with each good thing that happens to her she praises and thanks the Light. She believes that everyone should acknowledge the wonderful faith, and those that do not should be converted and convinced. If not possible, they should be watched, in case they try to dabble with other faiths. In secret, she finds herself to be favored by the Light, graced, blessed by it's rescue at a young age.

The early teachings of the Light made her faith unquestionable, and it is something she would carry with her till the Light takes her. The readings at her bed out of the tome of Light strengthened her, but at the same time, made her very wary and cautious of the shadow. She fears it, and the only way to eradicate that fear is by eradicating the users that wield such unholy power.

During combat, she sticks to her training; With a good portion of the Light at her side. She is not afraid to use it, to smite her enemies, blind them, heal wounds on the spot or shield her allies. She knows what she is capable of, but would only pause her wielding of the Light when extremely fatigued. She is known to shout in the midst of combat, chants about the Light or battle-cries to inspire her allies; And if there would be one ultimate goal she'd have in this life, it would be to become an Exemplar. So that is what she strives to be, an example.

Outside of combat, she is cautious; Walking with a straight posture, though not a cocky one. She tries to keep a welcoming smile on her face, while taking in the details of those around her. If she finds something suspicious, she does not hesitate to walk over and find out what it is; To the point of bluntness, for if it's Shadow it must be halted. She's not one to sneak around, subtly find things out for she realizes that if something was going on, she would be lied to regardless.

Those that uphold the Light and it's values will find themselves easily trusted by Scarlett, those that know of them will met with a welcoming attitude, those that outright deny it's existence or fight to destroy it, will (depending on the location, and tasks they are up to) be met with anger, hate or even the tip of her sword.

The Light saved her, the Light raised her. The Light shall prevail.

Alignment: Lawful Good.

History

Abandoned at a stranger's doorstep a few months after she was born, Scarlett her luck was running out until the Light decided to intervene. The man who took her in was a Paladin of a smaller noble house; Geofferson Braxton. In the years to come, he would fully take care of Scarlett as if she was his own daughter; Saving her life.

He would nurture her, teach her, show her; Experience everything with her from the first steps she took, to the first sword she swung. He taught her how to read, how to draw, how to be a child and so forth. While it was not always easy, and she didn't have any real friends, he took care of her needs and for that she owes him more then she could ever express in words. Her days were filled with teachings about the Light, her nights filled with demonstrations showing the powers of the Light. She was a scared child as she grew up, fearing she would be all on her own; Geoff comforted her a countless times, and even used the Light to brighten up her bedroom. Showing her that no, there weren't actual monsters in the cabinet, or under the bed.

Birthdays, a natural part of growing up. Most children would gain toys, money as they grew older but not Scarlett. Her first gift was a prayer book, an education gift to set her onto the path of the Light, helping her with reading at the same time. He would spend hours reading it next to her bed, and dozen of more hours teaching her how to read it.

Over the years however, Geofferson was called back to fight in skirmishes several times. Scarlett would panic and end up crying herself to sleep when he left. The servant she was left with, did her best but could not replace her father. The studies on the Light progressed, albeit at a slower pace. Over the years it became less difficult for her to handle, feeling as if her prayers to the Light where answered again and again; Prayers for his safe return.

Around the age of twelve, she had her eyes set on something that sparkled in her eyes. Earrings. At first Geofferson objected, loudly and clearly but by showing her persistence (aka several weeks of nagging), she got what she wanted. Boy did it hurt, but she never looked prettier.

Her days went on, filled with training (giving her the occasional bruise), lecturing, moral questions and dilemma's. She grew up believing the Light is right, and soon found herself to be on training to become a fully fledged paladin. Over the years she had a few sporadic moments, struggles of a teenager with rebellious hormones. One of those moments has never left her; She was caught with a boyfriend. The adventure quickly turned sour, when that first kiss turned into the boy being plucked up by the back of his shirt, thrown out of the house to proceed into a night long berating on what Scarlett had done wrong. Her romantic heart was cooled down, enclosed by walls till there was nothing left but the question in her head; "What would the Light do?"

She realized that year that romance was not on her path, and wouldn't be. Her loyalty was to Geoff and the Light, to do what is right instead of seeking for her own pleasure. She thought she had it all figured out, till another impulsive moment got her berated. Geoff his birthday, with one of the worst gifts she could have given him. At the age of seventeen, she got the man a shotgun; Thinking it would be of use to him, to protect himself with.

"WHAT DO I NEED THIS FOR? HUNTING RABBITS?"

Shouts, lectures, berations and so forth. Another mishap showing Scarlett what a stupid teen she had been. It hurt her, but she loved him nonetheless. She just needed to improve, do better, show her worth more. In the years to come, she had her chance to do that; In war.

Scarlett had not been lucky like Geoff, her rank would be defined by hard work. She had to fight for her land, shed blood for it, and earn it skirmish by skirmish. She had been well trained, prepared for the hardships of it, but some experience could only be gained by doing it. The clashes of steel against steel, the shouts of agony, the ground being covered by bodies and blood. She adapted, she toughened up and conquered it.

Over the years, she rose through the ranks; Earning promotions which she upholds with pride. Through skill, valor and courage on the field she got where she is to this day. While ranked lower then her father still, she strives to reach even higher positions. She must be at his level, she must make him proud. And there is no better way to show her capabilities then by fighting under his command.
