Personality

Alignment: Chaotic Evil

To describe Savaan in mere words is a mistake in itself. He is a real character, a human being; his thoughts and focus are much to advanced to seriously depict without misguiding the reader. If anything, you've probably heard that there are many characters who assume the role of being "heartless" or "emotionless". We indeed see the outcome of these characters, and it is apparent that it is not entirely true; Savaan is the only exception of these many. He is a man with a mysterious and broken past, one filled with all the real horrors capitalism can provide. Any element of pleasure or delight was already wrenched away from his innocent self since the day he was born. He is unable to give anything his full trust and obliges himself to be ready for any outcome so that he is prepared and not stuck in petrification. It is accurate to say that he is a solemn, austere yet powerful sort of person.

History

In the slums of Old Town, or more specifically, in some unknown gutter, lay a former prostitute holding her newly born bastard child. The gutter was safe; it was far too damp for any threats of rapists or murders to wander in, but in spite of this, Savaan's cry beckoned attention and she was forever without the real nourishment to properly sustain her child's life. Both mother and son weeped and sobbed in the darkness while they were swallowed in black; their cries being commonplace in their environment, they were of no special notice. Sometimes, during the wake of day, she would leave Savaan to sleep on a dry surface inside the gutter, perhaps drape a cloth over him to hide him from slavers, and go out to bring in revenue from her once prosperous craft. It was all well until the world exploded.

It was like an earthquake: everyone was in a bustle to leave, to get armed, and to be ready for the apocalypse. Something happened that the humans have never experienced before, and everything rushed by in a flash. Giant green monsters assaulted the aristocracy with fervor unlike anything even the most valiant warriors have seen before. Savaan's mother knew nothing else but to hide in the gutter, forcing their cries into silence. Screams of pain, battle cries, shrieks and yells from all over crowded the city; swords clashing, explosions, blood splatter and total collapse. Fear ruled the hearts of everything; alarms sounded both in the heads of those who've realized the reality of the situations and literally as the city attempted to stabilize. Soon, it was all over; the chaos was put on hold and the world stood still without an idea of what to do.

The black-market was riddling with the alien battle gear and trinkets from another world and young men from the poor were freshly recruited into the ranks of the army. Reports of the war were all over, announced to the whole city. The aristocracy ensured that the masses were informed that they were winning, but many of the wiser knew the truth of the matter. Ships were overpricing as demands to leave skyrocketed, which effectively barred Savaan's mother from fleeing. Illicit boats heading north were known to be scams, especially in times of such need, but it seemed to be the only option worth reaching for. She hastily confronted a loan shark and borrowed sums of counterfeited coin, claiming she would use it to invest in the thriving market of arms and armour. She planned on using it to escape the city, but it was already too late; everyone was being rushed to the refugee boats and she was lucky enough to smuggle her son and herself onto the packed escape craft. So started their adventure towards the northern kingdoms.

On the craft, months passed. Many people were thrown overboard for things such as cannibalism, thievery, warlockry or just unpleasantness. There were much too many people on-board, but those who ended up surviving helped each other get through it together. The few children, who were there, including Savaan, were thoroughly taught by the sailors and other refugees on all sorts of craft. For some, they learned how to tie a myriad of knots; others learned how to mend patches into clothing, a few learned how to wield a sword and even fewer learned how to cook with scarcely any materials. Savaan, on the other hand, was left with the last and least prominent; something that would surely render skills useless in the practical world: a philosopher. His cynical and gloomy style made little sense to someone who saw the world in black and white, but slowly the theorist made progress with the child. He taught Savaan how to read and write, explaining his philosophy on how the world works. A few days before they reached Southshore, he died of scurvy. The crew members stripped him of his worth and threw his body over the shore, not really caring to preserve yet another body to bury on the approaching coast.

There were no real slums in Southshore; it was much smaller and much more open to the wilderness. Their king, Anduin Lothar, was off with the other nobles of the northern kingdoms; it was a nominal concern for the people of the lower class. Slowly, Savaan and his mother began to drift apart from each other. She was looking for a new husband, assuming her chances were higher because many of the refugees were desperate and widowed. Savaan found no peers that interested him, and instead ventured reclusively on the path of an intellectual. He found few books that helped him pass his time, mostly dealing with anatomy and other secular ideologies. For a child, it was downright rare, but not uncommon for those who actually learned how to read. However, it soon caught up to him that he'd have to somehow procure revenue from his endeavors if he wanted to sustain himself from the bare minimum. Crime was his only serious options; every other job was more than full, and hardly yielded any real benefits. He joined a minor syndicate, proving to be much more intelligent then his contemporaries but not as physically useful. For instance, he could logically formulate plots to steal or poison, but was unable to seriously conduct them. This opportunity, however, helped change that for the better.

Into his early teenage years, he grew a small amount of infamy for his decisive and cunningly original forms, but it was becoming much too well known. He was now quite a bit more effective in technique and far advanced in thought for those of his age and especially for those of his class. Now practically detached from his mother, he barely gave her any thought when he hitched a ride with a merchant going to Stromgarde. As they traveled away, Southshore soon was demolished by the wrath of the Horde. The merchant and Savaan talked for some time while traveling, and he found how deep the young teenager was in the pit of criminality; for this, he convinced Savaan to consider an offer.

The Horde. It was big news, and it was everywhere. Everyone was in peril, and everyone was training to fight against it. Savaan was no exception; he struck a deal with the merchant. He would receive training, food and somewhere to sleep if he would vow to turn his ways around into one that is more respectable. The trader knew that profit could be made off the juvenile delinquent; he set him up with a fellow friend, a Troll Hunter who had lost his only son and was too old to raise another anew. The child was bright enough to see the clear benefits to this, so he worked hard, but in a disturbingly silent fashion. The concern couldn't be met; the demands for troops were too high, so training was a number one priority. Besides, all priests in the region (who more than likely fled back to Lordaeron anyway) were too busy with physical wounds and terrible mental grievances. Savaan often overworked himself, sneaking out at night to run extra laps and killing more trolls than he was told. Sometimes, he would have the audacity to deprive himself his usual tools; in the cold, damp weather he would jog without a shirt, and if he felt confident against an enemy he would abandon his weapon and resort to his fists. Truly, this isn't exactly what the Troll Hunter had in mind; he wanted a son who was more socially active, one who he could talk to and teach; Savaan just seemed to inhumane. Within time, however, the war was already halfway through and he was finally applicable to join as a Scout for the Stromgarde military; a feature he took advantage of as soon as possible.

Savaan got through his rudimentary training quickly, and was assigned a few feeble assignments for older and higher ranked Scouts. Notably, he was always above his comrades in terms of haste and effectiveness, however he gravely sacrificed social stability. He'd worked hard enough to gain himself a form of leadership among his fairly incompetent peers. By this time, many of his contemporaries had already courted and made friends with every other member. It was nerve racking to Savaan's mental confinement; he couldn't handle seeing one another making friends, telling jokes, enjoying each other's company. It was all white noise to him and deep down it made him feverously jealous. He envied how they could dare relish in amity during a time of war, how they didn't cheat each other to get ahead and still survive. He only heard hatred when his name was whispered in the canteen, only saw abhorrence in their eyes when he demanded their respect. It was slowly tearing the teenager apart, and all he could do was bite the bullet and drown in proactive behavior.

Despite his predicament, he whipped his cohort into shape through rough and relentless forms of training that he would only put upon himself. It was disheartening for the men, made some break into tears and temporary insomnia, but it made them into reputable Scouts in the end. This enabled them to be applicable for a high priority mission involving the nation of Alterac allowing the enemy to pass through to the north. Lucky enough, Savaan and his team were able to spot a few Orcs and notify their Scout leader who was collaborating information from the various other teams. His evidence wasn't critical, but it was still useful in bringing much of the Stromgarde army down to destroy any fortified Orcs and prevent any from returning. Savaan was moved away from the operation and back towards other military means, few granting him the experience of hand-to-hand combat and others that helped him garner experience in the form of spying.

The green monsters were becoming less of a threat by each month. Talks about an expedition into another world flew around, but Savaan was uninterested in going to the world where the monsters whence came. He knew that he and his squad were going to be dropped, not because their lack of effectiveness, but due to financial restraints. They were soon discharged, and immediately he sunk into an environment he was once comfortable with: crime. Fearing his teammates would turn on him or even notice him in Stromgarde, he hitched a ride north to the city of Stratholme to start fresh.

Stratholme was simply a different playing field; all the rules of the street were effectively the same. He involved himself in serious operations such as poisoning, mass thievery, counterfeit and if he was paid enough, snuffing out others from existence. Never participating with a specific gang, he worked as a freelancer and gained quite a name in the community for his vehemence. However, within a few months, it was evident something was going direly wrong. It was indeed much like the incident he experienced when he was very young, in Stormwind; but this time it was different. This time, instead of invaders coming from the outside, the insurgents were born of the citizens who occupied the city.

They were everywhere. It was truly a disheartening sight; the mangled faces and butchered remains of people you saw every day were now out to make you as they were. Whether or not Savaan could comprehend this atrocity was out of the question; for once in his life he did not know what to do. He was startled, petrified; but somehow he forced himself to get over the horrifying event and fight through it. Most of the time he was able to outmaneuver the fiends, but there were events where he had to fight through the packs of zombies. They flocked all over the city, devouring and festering it into a dilapidated ruin all so quickly. He was relieved when he finally found a way to escape.

Although it was equally appalling on the outside of the city, Savaan was able to more easily move south because of his previous skills as a scout. He came across broken down supply caravans and looted them thoroughly, keeping his pack light and gathering any valuables. One notable caravan was one that belonged to some nobles in Stromgarde, more specifically, the Blackstone family. There were critical documents inside the caravan that would help shape the rest of Savaan's future. They contained records, receipts and confidential letters that were to be held in the utmost secrecy. He continued to travel down south, moving through the small towns without bothering to warn them of the dangers above. Sooner or later, he reached the great city of Stromgarde.

It had been evident that the city was waning away from its stronger self. The environment clearly dictated that it was on the tip point of faltering. Crime was rampant, order seemed scarce and everything appeared to be falling apart. Savaan knew it was because their military strength had been crippled; all the men worthy of fighting left and too few returned. When he was searching for a nobleman of the Blackstone family, he had to pay special attention to their family crest. Since the crime was so reluctant in Stromgarde, Savaan moved through the malicious concrete jungle with speed, coming across a man who didn't quite seem to fit in. His clothes were not too flashy, but they indefinitely were not those of the lower class. The mans face was pale, fear clouded his eyes; he was clearly not physically fit nor filthy in any way. He bore a signet ring that had the same colours of the Blackstone, and Savaan took control of the opportunity to approach him.

Unfortunately, there was a reason why the man looked so frightened. Four men were approaching him, one clearly different in the fact that he was clad in regal garb: the other three weren't as well dressed, but were still clearly sophisticated in their attire. Their leader, so to say, threatened the petrified man with blackmail on an issue Savaan found in the doctrines. The other three readied their bats and cudgels, and they were ready to give him a thrashing before all of a sudden, Savaan caught them off guard, dispatching one by disarming him and then abruptly knocking him cold with his own weapon. The other two reacted to the former scout, completely ignoring the panicky man, and their leader fled in fear. The other two were no match against the physical prowess and relentless determination Savaan was reputable for; he blocked the goon's bludgeon and inexorably slammed his foot into the mans knee. The other came from the side, striking Savaan square on the torso, however, he glanced the blow and quickly did a roundhouse kick. The first henchman got up from his injury and was about to bring his truncheon onto the back of Savaan's head, but unexpectedly a flash of purple light ruptured through the air. The crook grabbed his own head, letting a dreadful squeal of agony while gore slid through his fingertips; he was dead within moments. It was as if his head had begun to hemorrhage, like his mind detonated.

Things went direly wrong in a blaze of chaos. Savaan and the frightened man he saved tried to communicate, but the world seemed to be turning upside down. All they could do was run, but that was only a short while until a giant Ogre shot from an alleyway. Thinking fast, the two humans quickly slew the behemoth and climbed over its body. An adrenaline rush was far too little to describe the experience both of them were going through, but somehow they made it back to a relatively safe zone controlled by the Blackstone family. Everyone and everything was packing up and rushing out the door as quickly as possible. About three or four caravans finally got onto the road; the guards protected it from the oncoming bandits at least until they hit the main highway. In a moment where the two finally got to talk, they both already knew a deal had to be struck.

Savaan, at this moment, wanted only one thing: stability. He felt it would be best to lay low and take a break from the huge spike of excitement. The man offered employment options, and the former scout thought carefully. He decided that the best job that would suit him is that of a butler; learning how to cook, clean and pour tea didn't seem too much of a hassle and might warrant him access to any library they kept. Strangely enough, he pressed the nobleman to hire him without binding papers; a practice looked down upon severely, especially for someone who would be working so close to the family. However, to Savaan's luck, the nobleman felt enough trust to seal the deal with a firm handshake instead of a contract. They were soon on their way to Stormwind, where they would then rebuild their trading empire.
