Appearance

The gaunt and weary features of Sadron's face are framed by thick, mangled green hair and an equally unkempt beard. His hair itself is, excepting two tangled locks that lie by his face, swooped behind long ears and falling onto his back. His burned eye sockets are covered by a black blindfold that nests itself between his square cheekbones, hooked nose, and his low set eyebrows. Elongated fangs stick out from his crooked and yellowing set of teeth, but are only visible when he speaks.

His skin is tough and thick, giving him protection equaling leather armor. Bulging muscles, particularly on his arms, give him an imposing physique that hints at his demanding lifestyle. His torso and arms are marked by fel-green tattoos that radiate fel energy, thus giving off a faint glow. His muscles and pungent fel aura make Sadron a monster of a Night Elf, a fact that he is quite aware of.

His attire is simple, and made of a mixture of thick cloth and light leather. He doesn't have much faith in armor, especially when the enemies he faces wield giant axes and fire. He wears a green and orange leather shawl that falls around his shoulders and covers his chest, simple braces with tattered cloth around his hands, and a leather kilt with orange cloth. The tattoos on his arms are the only ones that remain exposed, and that is only when he is not wearing his bulky cloak. The goal of this outfit, in his eyes is to make him look like a wanderer or a pilgrim--something he considers himself to be.

Personality

The trials of war and the pains of loss can prove harrowing for most people. They are left bereft and empty; lesser vassals to lesser lords. After the Third War, Sadron took his empty heart and filled it with the fire of revenge. In becoming a Demon Hunter he found a dark and taboo, yet noble, vocation that he has devoted himself to. He is hated and feared by the Kaldorei, his own people, and is truly alone in the world.

Being shunned and ostracized from society has made him gruff and distant. Outside of combat he keeps a level head and is able to think things over. He has disconnected himself from the struggles between the Horde and Alliance, and seems quite uninterested in anything that does not directly involve combating the Burning Legion. He does not see his duty as a Demon Hunter as solely protecting Kaldorei lands or lives, but rather the world and all living beings as a whole.

Sadron could be looked upon as feral. He has to mind for proper speech, instead putting his thoughts into blunt words. His speech in Darnassian is much more eloquent than it is in the Common tongue, and as such other races may view him as vulgar. He is actually quite clever, he simply doesn't like showing it. He is uneducated, but the long years he has lived through have taught him patience and wisdom that he occasionally shares with others.

Fel magic corrupts, and Sadron is no exception to this rule. His constant use of fel and harboring its essence within his body have made him aggressive and unpredictable. Every day of his life Sadron struggles to maintain his sanity against the ever-corrupting power he wields. He both loves and hates himself for what he is, and transposes these mixed feelings onto mortal fel-users to justify attacking them. In combat, Sadron reveals a more merciless side of himself. As fel courses through his body he can go into a frenzy if he does not guard himself.

Under his roughness and gruff persona, there is a pensive side to Sadron. If prompted, he will openly share his philosophies and beliefs with other people. His friendship is difficult to win, as Sadron is a very distant person, but once his loyalty is earned it is steadfast and undying. He deeply cares about those he trusts and would gladly give his life to protect a friend. The path of the Demon Hunter is lonely, filled with harship, sorrow and loss. He knows, on some level that following the path will claim his life, and so he intends to walk that path on his own, in the likeness of a pilgrim.

History

Just over five-thousand years ago, a child was born to a blacksmith and a Sentinel who lived in Moonglade. They gave him the name Sadron, a name that meant ‘faith’. He had silver eyes, and as tradition would dictate, became a craftsman instead of a druid. He learned how to craft armor and weapons from his father, and worked as his apprentice for a time. The two were very close and enjoyed working together. Sadron was very curious of his race’s history, and often would his father tell him tales of how he survived the Sundering, and the conflicts and changes it brought. He learned Kaldorei tradition from his father, and fiercely held his traditional Kaldorei ideals in his youth.

He worked with his father well into adulthood, but around five-hundred years into his life he began to yearn for adventure. He packed his tools, said farewell to his parents and friends and moved south to the great forest of Ashenvale. The journey was long and difficult, but he managed to find his way to a small village with a rich history that was built around a small river in central Ashenvale. Though he had a difficult time getting settled and used to the populace of the village, he decided to make it his new home. He set up a small-scale smithy in the town fashioned weapons and armor for Sentinels and militia. He spent a long time living in that village alone and keeping to himself. The War of the Shifting Sands came to pass, though Sadron did not play a role in it. While working, he caught the eye of a young Sentinel. She was tall with deep green hair and a lithe build. The two grew close, and after a long relationship they sealed their love with a kiss and were joined together. More time passed and the two lived happily together. Soon they were blessed with a child, a baby girl. This was a rare occurrence in the village, and there was a large celebration. She and Sadron grew close, with Sadron relating the tales his own father had weaved for him when he was young. She was a curious and energetic child, though she was easily angered and very protective of her father. It fell to Sadron to take care of her with her mother often occupied with her duties. The girl, who they named Vanya, which meant ‘beautiful’, grew quickly and soon came into her own. She was a young adult by the time the Orcs arrived in Kalimdor.

They came from the south, charging up through the forest and eventually killing Cenarius. Sadron’s village was close to the Orcs’ bloodthirsty path, and so Sadron decided move further west with Vanya, to safety. Sadron’s mate stayed to help defend the forests, and this is where they were separated.

What would soon be known to the world as the Third War had begun, and the Burning Legion once again assaulted the forests of the Kaldorei. Sadron and Vanya couldn’t escape the war that the Demons at started, but they tried nonetheless. Sadron was injured and Vanya defended her father with the few Sentinel abilities her mother had taught her, though she was struck down by a Felguard. Two druids came running through the underbrush and happened upon the dying father and daughter. They used what magic they had to fight off the group of demons and heal the two, but Vanya was beyond saving. Sadron held her until she passed from the world, like he had held her when she came into it. The druids offered to lead him to safety, but he refused. It was safe, for the moment, so Sadron took his daughter’s body and gave her a proper burial, under a young tree.

Distraught, alone, and in shock, Sadron decided he needed to find his wife, even if he had to fight his way there. He accepted their healing and they gave him a sword, and he set off. He didn’t make it too far; Sadron didn’t know how to fight and had never held a sword in his life. He was surrounded in a clearing in the wood and quickly knocked unconscious.

When he woke, he was leaning against a tree at the bottom of a hill. The air was still and sullen, and his injuries were tended and covered by makeshift bandages. He looked around and saw a blind man with swirling violet tattoos watching him. Sadron relentlessly questioned his savior, and he answered to the best of his ability. The man was a Demon Hunter, and had saved Sadron’s life. At first, Sadron wanted to become like this man, become a Demon Hunter, but the man convinced him otherwise. Sadron wanted to search for his wife. The Hunter and he were heading the same way, so Sadron asked if he could accompany him. The man didn’t seem to like Sadron’s presence with him, but he allowed it.

He never found her, he never even made it to Hyjal. Felwood was too dangerous for him. While the two traveled, the Third War steadily came to a close. The demons were fought off, and at the cost of the Kaldorei’s immortality, the World Tree was saved. Sadron heard word of his wife, he heard that she went missing during a battle. They arrived at his former village to see it burned to the ground. Standing in the ruins of his former house, he decided to take upon a surname, Silentsong. Hopeless, without direction, and alone, Sadron again asked the Demon Hunter to train him. The Hunter had seen some of Sadron’s traumas firsthand, and heard about his daughter from him while he traveled. He saw the will in Sadron that he himself possessed when he started his training, and so he accepted Sadron as his initiate. Before the training began, Sadron found a memento of his mate- a silver necklace she wore- and gave her a burial despite the lack of a body. He buried the necklace under a great willow tree in the woods, and returned to the Demon Hunter's camp. His new master explained that Sadron was to be in isolation with him until his training was completed. That night, under the full moon, Sadron swore an oath to obey and listen to his master, and to dedicate himself to fighting the Legion. They then prayed to Elune, as Sadron’s master was quite religious; a trait which he passed on to Sadron. The oath was finished with Sadron slicing his palm with a small blade, to mark it in blood.

There were two tests that Sadron had to endure before he was actually trained. The first involved intense schooling on demons, followed by an oral test which Sadron passed. The second involved testing and increasing his physical endurance, this included combat training, intense running exercises, and intense torture.

Then there was the Binding- the first ritual Sadron went through. They moved south, and Sadron engaged a Felguard in combat. With a gem his master had given him, he trapped the demon in it when it was weakened, and returned to camp. His master bound the demon to his spirit through a fel ritual, and Sadron passed the point of no return. He gained some abilities, which his master instructed him in. This instruction was repeated for each ritual.

The next trial was the Marking, and Sadron had to once again engage a demon in combat. It was a difficult encounter, but Sadron came out victorious. His master drained the blood of the demon and milled it into a strange paste, which he spread out in a design on Sadron's torso, and then burned it in with fel. The pain was intense, but Sadron endured.

Sadron fell ill after he received the tattoos, and was unconscious for a full three days- during which he was plagued by vivid dreams and nightmares. He awoke, and looked over himself, and saw tattoos on his chest. Sadron’s need for pure vengeance was replaced by one of duty, at last. He had adopted the mindset of a Demon Hunter.

Sadron was given some time to get his strength back, where he and his master discussed the changes the tattoos brought, and his master’s own experience with the First Binding. They then talked about Sadron’s next test, the Second Binding. Sadron noticed that his skin was tougher; he didn’t feel as sensitive to temperature either. It was resistant to fire and small cuts. His hair was also beginning to turn white. His master showed him the abilities he had gained from the binding, and gave him basic instructions on controlling and using them. Sadron had regained his strength.

His master then explained that Sadron must pierce the eye with the same dagger that he was tattooed with, and then cut out his own eyes. Hesitantly, Sadron obeyed. He pierced the eye with the hollow dagger, grit his teeth, and cut out his own eyes. The fluid from the dagger seared the inside of his eye sockets so they didn’t bleed. The pain was incredible, and Sadron tried to hold in the scream. This failed, and his cry echoed throughout the cave they were camped in. When he was done, the world was dark, Sadron was blind. The next morning, the world was gray. The next couple while was spent with Sadron gradually adjusting and receiving the Cursed Vision. After four days, Sadron preformed a test, a simple one. His master told him to arrange six rocks in a square, and Sadron did so. The next period of training required Sadron to defend himself from demons and find food and water without more than his master's commentary along the way. During those three weeks, Sadron learned the dangers of his abilities, and that if he submits to the taint that now runs through his veins, he would be hunted down and killed.

After what felt like months, Sadron finished his survival test, and went through his final- and most difficult- test, in which he hunted down a rogue Demon Hunter and killed him. Sadron spent days tracking the hunter, and eventually confronted him in southern Felwood. It was a long battle, as the other hunter was more experienced than Sadron. The rogue hunter had violet tattoos that allowed him to slip in and out of the shadows. It was a clash of two fighting styles, the rogue hunter used subtlety and surprise, and Sadron used strength and fire. Sadron won, but only by luck. Sadron was tired, and the rogue came closer to end the fight. In one last burst of strength, Sadron howled, grabbed the rogue, and set the very air around him alight with fel-fire. He emerged victorious. His master clapped for him, and informed him that he now had to cut out the rogue hunter’s heart and drink the blood from its center. Sadron obeyed, and drank the corrupted blood while triumphantly sitting atop the corpse of his enemy. He proved that he could, and had, mastered his taint. They set up camp, and Sadron took the Demon Hunter’s oath, which was very similar to the oath he took before his training started. It finished similarly as well, with Sadron having to slit both his wrists and hold his arms outstretched for ten minutes before he could bandage them up. As Sadron bandaged his wounds, his master congratulated him, and declared him a fully fledged Demon Hunter. With his graduation from student to equal, Sadron took up a title. He chose to keep using his name in honor of his people, and in memory of his former life. This title is Graytalon.

With his sacrifices seemingly at an end, Sadron set out into the world to wholly pledge himself to defend Azeroth from the Burning Legion.

Skills and abilities

• Immolate

Sadron surrounds himself with a wreath of flames, dealing fire damage to enemies within range. This spell does not distinguish between allies and enemies, and will burn ANYBODY that is within range.

• Engulf Blade

Sadron channels fel energy, which causes his weapon to become engulfed in flames, causing fire damage to enemies when he strikes them.

• Mana Burn

Sadron channels Demonic energy within himself which causes Spellcasters to take damage from their own mana reserves, burning them internally. This spell is ineffective against non-spellcasters.

• Drain Demonic Essence

Sadron may drain the energy of a demon to replenish his own. This allows him to essentially refuel and use his abilities.

• Tainted Fireball

Sadron may throw a blast of fire at his target, inflicting fire and shadow damage. This ability is best used at long range, or as an opening attack, as it takes a moment for Sadron to cast this spell

• Cursed Vision

Sadron, through the ritual of gouging out his eyes, has lost his regular vision. In its place, he can see the world in various shades of gray, though arcane and fel energies burn as brightly coloured flames. This results in a greatly reduced field of vision, and puts him at a disadvantage if he is fighting somebody that is untouched by Arcane or Fel.
