Personality

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral. Richter much prefers good over evil, but the realities of undeath and the plight of the Forsaken don't always allow for such niceties.

Philosophical, ambitious, focused, and curious. Having been an agent of order in life, stuffed in the ground for several years, and reborn Forsaken, Richter considers himself to have enough perspective to make an informed opinion on most subjects. He gave up his idealism upon undeath, but did not give up his drive to change the world. He believes he can still good for the world, and for the Forsaken in particular, but it will take more practical, experimental, and occasionally underhanded means.

Richter pushes himself and others to make the most of their time, even if that means taking controversial actions. He sees his Forsaken rebirth as a second chance, as limited and disgusting as it is. He believes in living his new life to his fullest, experiencing what he can, learning from other cultures, and getting the most out of his Forsaken body. In fact, he has turned his skills as a healer in life and plague chemist in undeath toward 'curing' the Forsaken condition. He concocts potions to aid in bringing feeling and function to the Forsaken bodies. While this gives him a fuller life, it also comes with a price, and Richter is a bit of an addict.

Richter speaks his mind and can be blunt, but is willing to listen to all opinions and try anything once.

History

In life, Sir Richter was a knight and paladin in service to Lordaeron when Arthas led his campaign against the plague-stricken. What many don't realize was that Lordaeron's army in this campaign was large, and many generals far away from Arthas had no clue as to what was really happening, with orders passed on from afar. He watched it turn from an investigation of the cultists to a misguided slaughter on innocents. Orders were further confused down the chain of command when a maddened Arthas brought his campaign against the elves. Many soldiers, Richter included, fought pointlessly against the elves before realizing the truth of the situation. Eventually he learned the right of it, and died alongside the elves fighting against the Scourge.

Reborn into the Forsaken, Richter threw out his old life and committed to his rebirth. He renounced the Light, and turned his healing skills to alchemy and surgery. His training with the apothecaries led him to realize the potency of these concoctions to help Forsaken, restoring feeling and function to their worn bodies. He has since quit formal associations with the royal society and works independently towards potions and procedures that will help Forsaken live a fuller second life.

He has found some success with his work, healing his body to a relatively stable condition. But he is far from fully human, and the constant experimentation on himself has led to some side effects, most notably severe addiction to his own medicines.

Believing in the need for a strong Forsaken empire, Richter occasionally works for Sylvanas and other factions that run the Undercity, but is picky about his jobs. He wants a unified Forsaken order, and is ready to take down their enemies, but is wary about blind obedience to anyone, even the Dark Lady.

He still retains some of his combat training, but prefers a stealthy approach, not wanting to risk his weakened second life. He also finds stealth useful for obtaining rare ingredients for his work. Richter would rather test on corpses in the lab than make them in the field of battle, but he still retains some physical prowess from his life training.

When not working as a chemist or doctor, Richter tries to gather fellow forward-thinking Forsaken, and encourage them to improve their lot in life, rather than wallow in the decay of undeath.
