As he was raised with discipline, his formality and military discipline make him cautious with his words, usually utilizing clever word play when attempting to share knowledge he otherwise should not share or to warn someone in a way it would be against his code. As much as he possesses the nature of a trickster, the same training collides with him, calming his urges to play jokes on people. As his father raised him, he became to believe that power is the ultimate rule of the world, and now he desires such trait, no matter if its military ranking, personal fighting capabilities or knowledge. Charismatic and strong-minded to his beliefs as he is, the wars have scolded Rayleigh’s personality to a rather merciless character.

History

Childhood

Rayleigh was born in Stormwind to a family of military. His father possessing a ranking of the officer when Rayleigh was born, it was his father’s only goal to see his son succeed in his footsteps and perhaps even surpass him. The time Rayleigh could stand up and speak his combat training began.

When other children played on the streets of Stormwind, he trained with swords with little free time to do what he would have liked. Each time Rayleigh attempted to uphold his cheerful nature of a trickster, he was scolded heavily for it. His manners were molded to fit the uniform his father dreamed of Rayleigh to wear, and as the boy’s heart screamed for adventures, he in time gave up his desires in shadow of his father’s wishes.

By the time Rayleigh could read, his father exploited his status in the military to get a group of teachers behind him and Rayleigh immediately begun to study politics, internal affairs, logistics, economy, manners, etiquette, and military leadership among others such as theory of swordplay. After each day, one of his instructors forced him to physical training, which Rayleigh absolutely hated, but as one’s personality is a blank canvas, his canvas was painted with obedience.

After Rayleigh reached puberty, his father had already gained more influence in the military and he began spending his days at the Court of Azeroth. Only to soon join the military itself. Due to walking the footsteps of his father, Rayleigh quickly rose up the first few ranks in the military whilst continuing his training. Rayleigh soon realized that his life had given him only one purpose, to protect and serve.

Court of Azeroth at the time possessed gifted individuals, among Alduin Lothar and Medivih, Rayleigh was not given the time to observe such figures, as his father’s stubborn will to improve his son kept him mostly in seclusion. Each time Llane Wrynn the Prince passed him and his father at the court, his father would smack Rayleigh in his head, only to whisper into his ear that he will never be anything without dedication.

When Rayleigh turned twenty years, the Stormwind Assassins were formed shortly after. As this new branch had shown promise, Rayleigh’s power hungry father offered his son as a body guard to Stormwind Assassins in order to see his son rise up in their ranks. Rayleigh was not himself satisfied with this, as he wanted to serve in the brotherhood of the Horse.

No matter how he squeezed his hands into fists in anger, he could not disobey his father’s will, only to serve in the Assassin’s for the time being while still improving his skills and physical capabilities. However, little did his father know that his son new position would halt his increase in military ranks for the time being. Naturally, Rayleigh’s resentment towards his father grew as his father kept sending threats to him, as others in the court had already gained high rankings, and Rayleigh was severely behind the other figures of the Court. By the time Alduin Lothar was knighted and given the rank of the Knight-Champion, his father beat Rayleigh severely for the lack of succeeding in his father’s goals and being pale in comparison to other young’s at the court.

The First War

After the initial siege of the Stormwind Keep, and when the Stormwind decided to bring the fight to the orcs, Rayleigh’s father stormed the quarters of the Stormwind Assassins, demanding his son to be of instituted in the battlefield, and his wish was granted. Rayleigh served in the war positioned at the Swamp of Sorrows, and was later on given the rank of Master Sergeant for his combat potency as a combat rogue serving as a scout in the fields of battle. After Lothar had returned to lead the forces of Stormwind, Rayleigh and the others were called back, only shortly later on to hear the news of the assassination of the new King.

During the orcs rampaging assault on the Stormwind City Rayleigh received severe wounds against an orc, only to be shortly after rescued by the fleeing forces. He and the other remnants took the desperate retreat across the Great Sea, of which most of the time Rayleigh suffered from sea sickness and his wounds. During the voyage one of his comrades came up to him and shared the news of his father’s death in the siege of Stormwind, and Rayleigh could not smile, as much as he cherished his newborn freedom, he was bitter in being incapable of saving his father. Upon their arrival to Lordaeron, Rayleigh could stand again, and without him being fully recovered, he began his training a new, vowing never to be dishonored in such manner again.

The Second War

Rayleigh did not get to enjoy the comforts of Lordaeron long, immediately upon hearing the news of the newly found Alliance of Lordaeron, he knew what was to happen next. And his decision was clear, although he was not forced into becoming one of the combatants in the war, he volunteered to do so. Serving primarily in the scouts and intelligence, Rayleigh no longer took such active role in war as he had done during the First War. From battle to battle Rayleigh followed the orders with discipline and formality his father had taught him, upholding the legacy and wishes of his father, Rayleigh gained his first officer rank, when he was knighted after the orcs mysterious retreat from Lordaeron.

Once the armies under the Supreme Commander closed in on the Blackrock Spire, he continued practicing what he had learned in theory on actual field. After hearing of the defeat of Alduin Lothar, he and the others of his squad went on blood lust against the orcs, only to increase his bitter hatred towards the orckind. He then charged against his orders with the others, only to be short after defeated. Then the battle was over and the Dark Portal was destroyed. He had been recovered enough in order to assist in the rebuilding of Stormwind, although his heart and will were still shattered, he had broken his own vow and his discipline had been lacking.

Shortly after the war, Rayleigh began to build connections whilst his old habits die hard, and his daily practices kept on going. By the time the Stormwind was complete, and the Mason’s were kicked out, he was observing the event with tags to match the rank of a Knight-Captain.

The Third War

When the Third War was raging in Lordaeron, all Rayleigh heard was rumors of its occurrence, not participating it himself, he worked in Stormwind in assistance against the Mason rebellions, being focused on the intelligence, interpretation of the situation what one could call the newly risen Defias Brotherhood. Rayleigh was not seen on the battlefields at the time, but rather working in offices and training, which some had found interesting portrayal of self-discipline. Few people begun to train with him, and Rayleigh appreciated the sparring partners to improve his swordmanship.

Frozen Throne

The Scythe of Elune had arrived to southern Elwynn Forest, but that was not something many were aware of. Rayleigh among others went to investigate the forest being plagued by worgen and other demonic forces, only to notice that the forest was more overrun by day to day. Combating the threat he faced a cursed one in a duel. During the draining battle he noticed that the cursed one's cutlasses possessed particularly curious enchant, although the enchants magical capabilities did not affect Rayleigh, he sought to figure out what this curious enchant was.

After defeating the cursed man, he grabbed the twin cutlasses from the corpse to use them as his own. It was in a battle against another Worgen where he realized the mana draining capabilities of the swords; understanding that he finally had a chance to combat the mages with something. It did not take long until the forest was done, and as he retreated from the Grand Hamlet towards Stormwind, the area was already known as the Duskwood. Upon his return, he and few others were greeted in Stormwind with respect towards their tenacity in attempt to remove the threat, and his deeds brought him yet another promotion.

To Present Day

After the Duskwood incident, Rayleigh continued to serve. As the age started to caught up with his speed and physical capabilities, he decided to dedicate even more to his training than he had before. This time resorting in aid of mages, he began training with mages, as their magical capabilities provided a far better sparring foe than footmen inside the keep. He learned to combat magic users and to use his cutlasses more accurately, utilizing the enchants they had.

His long days at the office kept him occupied, and he did not manage to perform a lot of field work, but then the Shattering occurred. Now that the Alliance, and Stormwind require more than ever, Rayleigh received his latest promotion; a rank of Lieutenant Commander. With this promotion, he was tasked to participate in the war fronts of the Alliance in order to assists their war efforts through the knowledge and the experience he has gained.:
