Appearance

Raan is huge. Not simply in his height, but also is almost as broad as he is tall, by his large shoulders and lumbering gait. His fur is black, and has a sheen to it, like it is kept very clean, but it looks like it has never been trimmed, his wild beard reaching down to his stomach, and his "hair" reaching way down his back, in untidy tufts. Every inch of him seems to bulge with muscle. Yet for all his size, he appears quite simple. His small eyes look kindly, and his expression is as if he doesn't quite know which to choose at any given moment.

Usual Garments/Armor: Crudely made but well maintained leather garments. They can be any colour, and any combination, of natural fur or leather colours.

Other: Raan cannot read or write, though he speaks Taurahe, Orcish and common, the latter two with less fluency.

Personality

Alignment: Neutral good.

Raan is, in any description of the word, a gentle giant. He has a simplistic manner, and a childlike curiosity, that just doesn't seem to match his intimidating appearance. He will constantly approach people, not knowing what to say, but intent on making friends with as many people as possible, without prejudice or preconceptions. Raan is, however, clumsy, and seems unaware of his own intimidating appearance, or strength.

Raan hates violence of any kind. Violence towards him will cause him to defend himself with a natural born berzerker, before returning to a very regretful, guilty attitude about the whole thing. Once out of any dangerous situation, however, he could bawl like a baby at the slightest paper cut, or fly into a tantrum dangerous enough to warrant others to back away to a safe distance, having no real concept of honour, or appearing in a certain way.

History

Raan started out life as a fairly normal tauren child, constantly on the move, in Mulgore, and the surrounding areas, as part of one of the many Tauren tribes of the times. As a youngster, he seemed to have a natural love and passion for all living and natural things, and his father, a great warrior, and defender of his tribe, had aspirations of having him trained as a druid, a great honour. Yet, as Raan grew older, he grew immensely in size, but never in intellect, always retaining a childlike manner. Raan's huge sized caused problems for those around him. In the most serious of the incedents of this kind, he chased a youngling from the camp, and while he tried to defend it from wild animals afterwards, it destroyed his standing with the others of his group. Many called for his ousting from the group for being too dangerous. Raan was forced to sleep outside the camp from this time onwards, without shelter, only being allowed to return for food and other provisions. In this time, he took a hobby, making various items of clothing and small trinkets from skins and items he gathered on the plains.

Raan's tribe joined the Horde soon after, and his father saw an opportunity for his son to be redeemed, as a warrior of the Horde, believing his son's immense size and strength would make him a great weapon for the Horde. Raan, however, could not bear the idea of hurting anyone intentionally, and as such, his father cruelly convinced the simple Tauren that he would not have to hurt anyone. Crafting a huge, spiked mace, Raan's father gifted his son with the weapon, calling it the "catcher." He told Raan that he could redeem himself, and have all the friends he wanted. All he would have to do was catch them with the catcher. He was shown how to wield the object, and required little tutelage.

Raan obeyed without question. Travelling with his father, he was commanded to slaughter countless Alliance, all the while convinced by his father "They won't -all- fall asleep once you catch them, like these ones..." Raan was ignorant to the death's he was causing, confused by how everyone ran from him. And in turn, unable to bear the thought of himself being some kind of monster to run from, he himself ran, taking enough food, water, and gold to venture somewhere he did not know, and find a new purpose.
