Information

Player: Geoni

Character Full Name: Pleasant Tripp (Real name: Alan Harzfeld)

Character In-Game Name: Pleasant

Association(s): Undercity

Race: Forsaken

Class: Warrior

Skills and Abilities: Pleasant is a typical hack and slash kind of warrior, but his talents lie in the use of one handed swords and the protective uses of shields. That being said, he tends to be the kind of soldier who is put at the front of the line, and so he becomes a forsaken 'tank', in a sense. This never bears well for him. Aside from that, he also has an uncanny imagination when it comes to finding discarded items and turning them into something that can be used.

Age: 58

Sex: Male

Hair: He is bald, and has virtually no facial or body hair remaining.

Eyes: His eyes glow yellow, as most Forsaken's do.

Height: 6'4”

Weight: 260 lbs. (+25 if counting armor)

Scale: 1.1

Appearance

Usual Garments/Armor: Pleasant wears plated armor, but the plates on the armor look as if they were shingles on an old rooftop that’s missing a few. The pants are just like the armor on his torso, with many of the plates missing near the ankles. He also has a shield with him when he's going out to battle. The shield will either be a smaller round shield with spikes, or the top of a child's coffin if he's seeking to be purely defensive. Another piece of armor that he only wears when going out to battle is a helmet, which is plated just like his armor, but it has horns and only shows his eyes and mouth. Pleasant sees the head as something that should be protected above all else.

Other: Pleasant has been dead for nine years, and as a result of this, he has lost all of his hair and become bald. Much of the cartilage in his spinal cord has rotted away, so he stands with a hunch. After watching jaws fall off the faces of others after frequent use, Pleasant decided to stay away from using it too much, so he only eats on rare occasions and tries to speak with as few words as possible so that his jaw doesn’t get worn out as well.

Personality

Pleasant remembers only a small amount of his life events before he died, and so his range of emotions is quite limited to these events. He remembers much about the wars he fought, and the time he spent with his war buddies, but can’t remember how they died. Yet, he remembers the ways in which he cheered them up, and even as a forsaken, he carries on this compassion for his comrades. This, along with having taken on the name Pleasant Tripp, he has a strong sense of humor and irony for various situations. He also remembers little about his family, only that he had a daughter, who he only ever saw as an infant. Thus, the only love he can feel is a love that comes from the thought that he made something beautiful.

As a soldier of the Forsaken, Pleasant is just about mindlessly loyal to Lady Sylvanas and vows to protect Undercity in the way he vowed to protect Lordaeron when he was alive. As a result of his loyalty, he feels the same way about other races as many of the other Forsaken: they should be used for their cause. His mindlessness is also a result of him having gone through a number of lobotomies, having believed that they would fix his problems with memory. They only worsened it, along with his cognitive functioning. That, in combination with a bit of brainrot, has reduced his intelligence. That doesn’t mean he’s not a knowledgeable person, because he’s quite knowledgeable about a number of things he has experienced and learned as an undead, but it’s function that he has difficulty with.

History

Born Alan Harzfeld, Pleasant grew up in a strict household with five brothers and two sisters. They had a small crop field behind their home that they would use to grow food and raise cattle. There, he grew up as a farmhand and had to make friends with his siblings before anyone else, as it was a long walk to the capital city of Lordaeron from where his house was positioned. Despite the long walk, the family would visit Lordaeron once a week to attend church services. By the time he was in his late 20’s he became bored with life on the farm, and so Pleasant decided to enlist in the army to get away from the farm and see other places and people.

Just after he finished his training, he was sent to fight on the front lines during the First War, and witnessed the deaths of many at the hands of Orcs during the battle at Stormwind Keep. One of the most scarring moments of that battle was when he saw an Orc chopping his best friend to pieces while he was still alive, beginning with the legs and arms before chopping off the head. As his side appeared to be at defeat, he aided in the rescue and retrieval of the wounded and injured, helping bring them back to Lordaeron. Though many died in front of his very eyes, and the state of his fellow comrades was one of agonizing defeat, Pleasant’s way to cope with it was to boost their spirits with humor. As a result, he made many friends within his ranks. However, even though his humor led to a charming personality, the first war planted a seed of hatred within him, especially against the Orcs.

During the years following the first war, Pleasant helped in the reformation of the army for a future war along with helping those who were affected by the losses that occurred because of the last one. By the time this effort was finished, the second war began. During this war, the city of Lordaeron was attacked and Pleasant vowed to defend it to his last breath. However, he wasn’t killed, but only wounded during this fight. As a result, he was unable to join the others in a counterattack until the very end of it. Unlike the end of the first war, Pleasant was proud that his comrades were victorious this time. Still angry with the Orcs, he decided to work in the internment camps during the years following the war until the Orcs were freed. While working in the internment camps, Pleasant fell in love with a woman named Ivory, and eventually married her. They were happily in love, but were unable to produce a child due to fertility problems. Angry, Pleasant took it out on the Orcs he was charged to look after, and began to systematically kill newborns whenever an Orc gave birth to one, justifying it as population control. Despite that justification, he simply did it out of jealously, that the people who destroyed his former life could have a child and yet he couldn’t. Not only did he take it out on the Orcs, but he also took it out on his wife, and had several altercations with her that led to physical abuse.

The beginning of the third war came with a force that Pleasant had never seen before: the plague. Defending Lordaeron as he vowed to over the years, he was afflicted with the plague and eventually died due to the ailments that came with it. However, before he contracted the plague, he was finally able to have a successful conception with his wife, who later gave birth to a healthy infant, a daughter. It was during the first year of his daughter’s life when Alan died from the illness. After falling to the plague, Pleasant rose as a mindless soldier of the Scourge. For the rest of the third war, Pleasant would travel all over, wreaking havoc wherever he went. However, at the end of the war, his mind was freed from the control of the Lich King and he immediately joined the Forsaken, as revenge was one of the few emotions he had left.

Though he was granted free will again, Pleasant had very little memory left and didn’t even know his own name. Yet, he would remember the good times rather than the bad ones, and developed a sense of irony and humor. One day, he was walking through a graveyard when he stumbled across a gravestone with the words ‘Pleasant Tripp’; he found this ironic, and given his own situation, he took on the name. After taking on a name, Pleasant felt that he had finally taken on a personality and as a result of this he was able to make friends, if they could be called that. With them, he would fight for the Forsaken cause, and still does to this day.

"What I want is to forget all of my wrongdoings. I would give anything for that."

– Alan, at age 47
