Appearance

Paleran favors her racial garb: leathers, cloths and light armors that are ornamented but not ostentatious. She scorns any gaudy ornamentation, preferring instead to adorn herself with the tools of her trade and the baubles and trinkets she fashions.

Other: Keeps a magical vial around her throat. Within is a message from her cousin, magically preserved for her to hear whenever she uncorks it. He tells her to “stay strong, never turn away and always persevere".

Paleran is an Artificer skilled in jewel crafting, enchantment, Naaru technology and magic. She is both fascinated and confused by Gnomish and Goblin Engineering.

Paleran has picked much of her Common up from dictionaries and Engineering Manuals. This leaves her rather verbose with only minimal slippings on some key nouns and verbs.

Personality

Paleran is a kind –if awkward- woman. Beneath a quiet and seemingly standoffish demeanor there lies a genuinely friendly and warm-hearted creature. She is not very outgoing, preferring to remain in private with her own thoughts. Yet she remains polite even in the face of this and if she feels her silence is rude then she will enter into a conversation, trying her very best to be personable, pleasant and –with very little success- interesting. Yet her actions speak truer then her words: When someone makes the effort to be friendly with her she reciprocates, crawling out from her shell and being friendly in turn. She is not without fault, however.

Paleran's history, as with many of her kind, has given her some racial prejudices. While she will never truly strike out or wish ill-will upon them she still loathes to be in their presence. She hates the Sin'dorei and orcs to an equal measure for their crimes against her people, the Forsaken coming up in a close third for the sheer reason of existing. She avoids the races at all costs.

History

Paleran was born to Kemnark and Semnal, one of many children raised while her people fled on the Dimensional Ship. She was the couple's only child, the rarest gift given to the paladin and priestess. Little Paleran grew up between lands, moving from world to world as their ship bounded through the Great Dark Beyond.

Paleran took to priestly training early and easily. A natural study, she divided her schooling between her own work and tutoring her dearest cousin, Semnal. The two were inseparable friends, playing and growing together as they moved about across the galaxy. They were both taught of the Burning Legion and the threat they posed. Yet Paleran was also taught to cope with the fear of this enemy, instructed to turn her mind to other endeavors then let it linger on worry. And the Dimensional Ship itself proved a fascinating enough diversion for the inquisitive magician-to-be.

By the time her people began to populate Draenor Paleran was a skilled and agile mechanic, a student of Naaru technology and a staple in the Mechanar's laboratories and factories. She had dedicated her centuries to studying the Naaru's inventions and magic, learning the subtle ways to form crystals and the ways to fold magical essences into trinkets. By then she had long since relegated her priestly studies to a level beneath her magical work, keeping up her prayers between hours in her workshop crafting magical mirrors and enchanted keys. She set up shop in the newly erected Shattrath City, providing enchantments and magical tools to her fellow Exiled Ones.

Her cousin and she still remained very close after so long: While she crafted her wondrous little baubles he wandered Draenor, retrieving reagents and plying his skills as a hunter. He would always bring her back strange stories of the lands beyond, of monsters and magic that served to only fuel her creative projects. It was in this state, of her playing the inquisitive craftsman and he the bold wanderer that the fall of Shattrath and the betrayal of the orcs came about.

Her mother and father were killed in the fall of Shattrath, just two of many who decided to stay behind to try and buy the other Draenei time. She fled along with Velen and the others, leaving behind her cousin and the rest of her race in the crumbling city. It was here that her cousin fought, fell and became tainted, mutating into a Broken One. He died by his own hand after the fall of the Draenei city, wracked by despair at the horrors he had seen.

It was there, in the swamps, that Paleran and many other of the Draenei were lead by Vindicator Nobundo to the art of Shamanism. With a voracious appetite for the unknown, a reverence for all that is living and a feeling of weakness after her cousin fought so valiantly the Draenei fell comfortably into the studies of the elements, expanding on her rudimentary magical skills and honing her talents as her race planned their assault on Tempest Keep.

Ever since the crash Paleran has been doing her best to survive on this new world, learning to use her skills to best help those she now calls friends. She has embraced her new Alliance eagerly, seeking out across the world to learn as much as she can about this new planet. She hopes to one day perfect her artficing and begin crafting weapons and tools worthy of being used by the Army of the Light. Until that day she contends herself with the semi-miraculous, using her knowledge of magic, technology and craftsmanship to create enchanted tools and trinkets. It was a skill that her people found ever-increasing use for as they sought to maintain The Exodar.
