He shuns the Light, calling it a crazy religion for the young an naive and clings to the few discoveries about the Dwarven-Titan link. Odnir's thirst for wisdom is near legendary and he will go to extreme lengths for knowledge and the like. He is a very emotional fellow and often will work for days to write one line of 'perfect' poetry, for he is a poet. His furies come and go as well as his times of deep joy and ecstasy, making him appear very distant due to these mood swings. At most times, however, old Odnir is a kindly old man with a few interesting quirks to puzzle the youngsters with. Above all Odnir is clever, and will often find sneaky ways to get what he wants.

History

Born to the Banebeard Clan, Odnir was the second eldest of his brood and was the brother of Walluce's father, a mere 29 years difference separating the two. Odnir was not born a cripple and for much of his early life the Dwarf did not just posses sight, but a very sharp sight indeed. As a youth he was often able to spot goats, winter wolves and snowbirds in the midst of the far off peeks with his keen vision and he awed many friends and little lassies by doing so.

However, such an amazing talent was not fated to last. In his early hundreds, the war of the three hammers broke out and as all the Banebeards had, Odnir joined the side of Bronzebeard clan. It was during the midst of this conflict in a skirmish near the pass between Dun Morogh and Loch Modan that this Dwarf was struck by an axe, cleaving the front of his face in a diagonal slash that gouged out both his eyes on the spot. Whether the axe was held by Wildhammer, Darkiron or even Bronzebeard hands, Odnir does not know, the last thing he saw was the cruel sharp metal of the axe blade closing in on his visage. It was a true miracle the poor dwarf lived.

Now maimed and blind, Odnir was removed from combat and sent home. Yet through it all the Dwarf still longed to aid his brethren in the civil war and so instead of lending his blade to the effort he loaned his mind. Odnir became a teacher of military tactics and tutored a minor amount of recruits in the ways of warfare.

By the end of the Dwarven Civil War Odnir had become more of a liability then an asset to the military as he was not an incredible tactician and as a result was cut from the armed forces to live life as a civilian with the rest of his clan. Not discouraged in the least about this, Odnir continued on to tutor his young nephew Walluce, training the student in the ways of a sword, as best a blind swords-dwarf can, as well as more intellectual pursuits such as math, literature and history. When young Walluce's teaching had been brought as far as Odnir could take it he left the young heir to the care of other Banebeard dwarves for further instruction.

Life seemed to stretch on in endless monotony for Odnir, he was a no good cripple who was only a burden on others, thus the Dwarf came to the conclusion he should roam. The desire to become self dependent burned hot within his belly and with the purchase of a riding ram and some supplies he left Dun Morogh. To find the world.

At first his wandering was difficult, the dwarf's lack of sight kept him from hunting or directing which paths his mount would follow. So, in the beginning he allowed the Ram, which he would later name Ygrind, to chose the roads as Odnir himself was obviously unable to offer little objection. When the Ram stopped to eat so did Odnir, the Dwarf would hop off the steed, making sure to keep the reins in hand and lean down to search the ground for some plants for nutrients. Needless to say Odnir ingested a few poisonous flora due to this, but his luck always held and he was able to survive each mistake.

Over the decades Odnir honed his senses of hearing and touch, So much in fact, that with a stick to search the way before him, he could move and act as though he was not blind at all. He could hunt birds by the sound of their chirps and wild goats or deer by the hollow thump of their hoof beats. By this time, Odnir had made his way to a northern harbor and from there paid passage to Kalimdor where he walked among the streets of Theramore.

Paving his path in a westward direction, Odnir stumbled out of the swamps and into the Barrens, where he found Bael Modan. In Bael Modan Odnir was enthralled by the research about the Titans and quickly declared this place his new home. Here he began about the task of aiding his fellow Dwarves in deciphering their ancient heritage, or at least tried to. In order to do this he has become quite the linguist, studying the various languages of Azeroth and attempting to find their link to the Titans. From there he began to reason that the Titan's having shaped the world must also shape their writings in a similar manner and thus he picked up on research of Rune casting, a mix between inscription and enchanting that drew from the world the Titan's had formed.

Besides this research Odnir was allowed enough time to finally send word back to his Banebeard Clan concerning his whereabouts. At this, a few Banebeards left to join their blind fellow in Bael Modan and Odnir was proclaimed an Elder due to his worldly travels and research. The Dwarf had finally found his niche in the world.

As of lately, Odnir has been considering joining his nephew in The Coalition, still unaware of Walluce's death.
