Personality

Nizzen isn't unkind, but he isn't exactly sunshine and daisies either. He'll pummel you, spit on you, or even throw you off a bridge if you piss him off. That is...if he can. And he really does think so. When reacting with characters he likes to test them and act like he's better than them. If they turn out to be more important than himself, he will most likely start playing dead and be a bit nicer. He likes having power and he likes enjoying it, but he doesn't necessarily want it. If a little is pushed his way, he might take a few bites, metaphorically speaking. Responsibility is an annoying thing, after all. On a prettier note, he has a quaint fondness for kittens, however much he may deny it.

History

Nizzen spent his time as a little gnomeling traipsing about Gnomeregan, flying toy airplanes around peoples heads, into windows, and other kinds of mischief. He stayed in a small housing complex with his parents and two brothers, who gave him a generally rough time, being that he was the youngest of the three. When Thermaplugg released the bombs and the city was gassed and infested with troggs, his family started the desperate escape from the city. However, only Nizzen and his middle brother made it after their group attacked a battalion of troggs, trying to gain freedom. They then, naturally, fled to Ironforge along with the rest of their ravaged population, eventually falling into a life of crime. His brother, Meken, pilfered the wrong person. He was apprehended by Ironforge officials and eventually killed, supposedly illegally by the man he tried to steal from. Nizzen, without anyone left to turn to but estranged fellow gnomes, boarded a tram vessel to Stormwind, where there were more places to hide and solid organized crime.

Upon reaching Adulthood, he was well dirty, poor, and hopeless. He managed to pick up enough "items" to sell to survive, along with the random odd-job now and then, and boasted a well-lived, adventurous existence. Things almost seemed to even out, when he met a man. A dangerous man. The man taught Nizzen the nuances of burglary and how to condition himself for the work. He gave him names and addresses, and Nizzen soon found himself in an underground black market. His skills increased, and he no longer found himself languishing in cells.

His deft fingers and light feet suited the work well, and he trained himself to make great leaps for his height and to climb. He never saw much of the money from his take, however. His handlers were ruthless with their take, and he still made a meager living. He dared not leave - he was not a true fighter. He was certain they would kill him.

Eventually he didn't need to find a way out. He was attempting to follow a mark, and blindly followed him into the undercrofts of an abandoned chapel. The man was a seasoned criminal, human, and obnoxiously strong. He beat the gnome to bloody rag and carved his name into his forehead. "S H A W"

When he recovered, he fled Stormwind and moved back to Ironforge to try to ply an honest trade. He took a job peddling unpatented inventions of lesser tinkerers, and the pittance was even less than his days of amatuer coin-purse parcing. At this time, he saw a flyer for a mercenary group with open recruitment. He applied, and was accepted, joining the all-gnome task force and battling troggs in a cave.

They were rough mercenaries, especially by civilized gnomish standards. Eventually, the band suffered a decimation of casualties. During an expedition, an explosive charge misfired, causing an cave-in. Nizzen was one of the few to make it out alive. That was over a year ago, and now Nizzen has returned to his ways of thievery, gambling, and whoring. The way he sees it, he's too old to die young now.
