Skills and Abilities

  • Avatar of Vengeance - This is a shadowy copy of Nellina, she will only use it when outnumbered and desperate to emerge victorious and survive. A last resort kind of ability, spilling her own blood to summon this avatar of herself. The avatar can summon spirits of vengeance from the nearby corpses. It lasts a short amount of time.
  • Blink - A warden has to be able to get places and fast. Places which are out of reach or impossible to cross, climb, jump over. This is where the ability to blink comes to play.
  • Cloak of Knives - Nellina as any other warden has a warden cloak it holds many knives woven into the fringes. As part of her training, she is able to weave the cloak about in an elegant fashion to bring the blades down onto her enemies in a single spin of her body.
  • Shadow Strike - Nellina performs a damaging shadow strike by using Elune's justice magic. A basic melee attack merely empowered by magic.
  • Hold Person - A Warden's magic is a malleable art, which allows for the Warden to exert his or her will in a multitude of ways in order to catch their prey. Such a way is a 'Hold Person' spell, which uses the faith in justice to temporarily freeze or otherwise disable their enemy.
  • Alchemy & Herbalism - Living in Ashenvale surrounded by plants, sooner or later leaves you knowledgeable of the local plants and flora. This eventually grew into a hobby and Nellina managed to learn under the guidance of her mother on how to create healing potions, various venom's and other miscellaneous liquids who may be used to hinder or benefit a person.
  • Cooking - Nellina is a good cook, despite the militaristic aptitude and persona, one has to eat sooner or later. Taught by her mother early on, Nellina is capable of preparing many meals of the Kaldorei cuisine. But it is not often she does as such due to the fact she has no one to cook for beside herself. She is easily satisfied by raw fruit or vegetables with no need to cook or prepare anything special.

Appearance

Usual Garments/Armor: Full set of green plate armor or a full set of white plate armor given by the Argent Crusade.

Other: She has a two handed sword and a leather outfit which she keeps in Darnassus along with some other simplistic clothing for when she is not out traveling. Further more she has her own saber and a glaive which she rarely uses in combat. She is also in possession of a sentinel bow which she keeps from her early days as a sentinel.

Other than the mentioned possessions she has her warden gear in her home in Darnassus, it is actually the only reason she uses that home. Merely to hide her equipment as she often travels outside of Darnassus posing as a freelance night elf. Her true identity is kept secret to her friends and the Argent Crusade. The reason for that is the fact she simply does not want them to know. Mainly because some of them would change their opinions of her if she told them.

It is often she acts different when in uniform of a warden and when out there masking as a nobody. Such a mask is often useful due to obvious reasons. It is easier to draw closer to others and pick targets without causing suspicion. Even track them under the guise of a friend.

Personality

Nellina as a night elf, one that has lived for five thousand years has seen many things in her time as most others have of her race. This has left her with a distaste for magic which was given onto her by her people and culture. She firmly remains true to the ways of her race. In large groups, she tends to remain silent, merely listening and observing. It is worth mentioning that she does not prefer large crowds, but rather the solace of the elven forests. None the less it won't make her shy away from people, she is far from shy and is always outgoing in her opinions no matter how deeply they will strike the other person.

However, she is a tinkerer, adapting to any situation as she deems fit. It is often she thinks of her people, the way they are going and what is happening with the world it self. Her biggest and most notable fear is seeing her own people go extinct, she is truly afraid of such a thought. It is often she thinks of it, self made images of destroyed Ashenvale, Darkshore, Winterspring and Darnassus along with the others.

She often finds herself thinking that perhaps her people need to adapt, make use of the allies within the Alliance and perhaps adopt some of their technology. But these are nothing but thoughts unshared due to fear of how others of her kin may react. It is worthy of note that there is a lot she simply refuses to share in a conversation, rather she changes topics or answers with silence. It is hard to get her to open up and often she may be seen as one that merely observes.

But the last couple of years, the decade it self, have impacted her personality to a small extent as the night elves have been rediscovered and cannot hide within their forests anymore. In truth she wishes it was still so, that they could live in seclusion of their forests, in peace. Those remain merely empty wishes who will not become true anytime soon.

Nellina often suffers from loneliness and it has become a fearful thought that has manifested it self within her after the death of her parents. Before the battle of Mount Hyjal she more or less had enough people around her to keep such a fear away. This is why she is a little more lenient to get out there and make friends and partially a reason why she is in the Argent Crusade. Whether the other Kaldorei agree or not, she likes diversity but that is something she will keep for herself and will not share with others.

With the loss of immortality her original thought of not being in a rush when it comes to life partners has changed, severely. Mildly panicked that she will die of age sooner or later, she had started seeking a partner worthy of her. Due to the fear of extinction, she is more than willing to give birth to a Kaldorei child. The reasons for such is that she does not have much left in this world and everything changes rather quickly. The events observed in the last decade scare her. She wishes to see her people survive and prosper, the lifespan of a night elf remains unknown as no natural deaths have occurred or recorded. This is also another reason for such thought pattern.

None the less after drawing close to all the people she has met so far, she noted that she has commitment issues. She simply cannot commit to those people, she has difficulty trusting them. After such a long militaristic life Nellina was left feeling at home only when in combat or near a battlefield. She knows exactly where she needs to go, who to take orders from, when to strike, so on and so forth.

But when it comes to people in day to day social interactions, as previously mentioned she simply cannot bring herself to trust others. The moment she does however, she has issues staying close mainly due to the fear of being abused, lied to and similar. These fears manifest themselves within her for unexplained reasons. Perhaps due to a lack of proper experience on different terms than the military life she is used to. It is possible to change in future by interacting with others, but for now she is the way she is.

History

Nellina Dawnstriker was born in Ashenvale five thousand years ago. Her mother was a sentinel and her father a druid, they lived a traditional way of life in peace and seclusion. Nellina would have merely heard of the sundering and the exile of the Highborne from her mother while her father was in the Emerald Dream. He would awaken every thousand years to come visit them or in times of great danger such as the third war. Unfortunately for Nellina, she had lost both her parents within the third war it self which amplified her hate for the horde and its races. She wanted justice, revenge and wished death upon those who opposed the Kaldorei. The more she fought, the more she was sinking spiritually.

While her parents were alive, she was instructed by her mother to become a sentinel herself which she did in due time. She became skilled with the bow and over time, a strong and worthy opponent to any of the horde races considering her training. All that time within Ashenvale it self had given her an insight on how to adapt to her surroundings, but not only that, she was left with great knowledge of the local vegetation. Easily she could tell which herb is poisonous, which one is capable of being used as a healing reagent. She had used her knowledge of the mentioned as the third war came to the elven lands. Even after five thousand years she had remained without a life partner and she was in no rush. But after the loss of immortality that has changed.

However she aimed to surpass her mother. She wanted to honor her by becoming more than a sentinel. After two thousand years as a sentinel she was later on promoted to being a watcher. Nellina didn't have an issue upholding the law, she never did. As a sentinel her preferred weapon of choice was a bow, hunting the enemy or food out there is not something she has not heard of, but rather she is very accustomed to it. Anyone who would escape the Kaldorei prisons would usually be returned right back in with a group of watchers and one of them was usually Nellina. After proving herself time and time again she was monitored as a person with potential, someone that could do more.

As time passed and when Malfurion refused to give chase after Illidan, she sided with Tyrande and Malfurion, quietly so. Maiev left quickly and hastefully, Nellina was not noticed as it gave her a chance to simply wait for Maiev to leave. The portal Illidan opened, closed shortly after and Nellina remained in Azeroth. She was not one to follow Maiev to death and was not one to go against Malfurion or Tyrande. By that time her training was complete and as Maiev had become more and more focused merely on the hunt the thought of having more wardens became appealing to the Kaldorei government which shortly after followed with Maiev going rogue and being replaced by her younger brother.

Nellina was one of those who were fighting against the legion during the battle of Mount Hyjal, instead of chasing after Illidan her heart clinged onto the survival of their race and as such she remained. Fighting the legion was a way to have revenge and that is something she wanted. Illidan had never wronged her, not in her lifetime and as such Kaldorei lands took priority, they had to be defended. When the time came to commit to the final fight in the defeat of the legion, she gladly answered in revenge of her parents. Her father was killed by the legion and her mother was slain by the horde in the first days of their invasion when they were lead by Grom Hellscream. These events were not taken lightly by Nellina. They have further reinforced her will to stay and fight. On the downside of that she would sometimes fall to depression to the point she could be considered an eternal pessimist. Often she would have outbursts of anger and would become reckless in battle.

It struck her to see humans, dwarves, orcs, trolls and tauren along with them, fighting the legion. It is often that she observed such an event in disbelief and she wasn't out to make friends at the time. Most of them would get a cold glare if any would come to approach her. A wounded orc would be left to die and she would merely walk past him or her without a care in the world, some would even catch a stray arrow. She did not care that they were temporary allies, the legion could be easily blamed for their deaths. After all the legion did command a good amount of undead and had skeleton archers.

After the battle and the loss of their immortality, she had retreated to Darnassus. In Darnassus she had decided that she would make it her goal to become a warden. After two years she finally managed, spending yet another year in training until she was ready to set out and do her part as a warden. However that was not all, she wanted to get out of the Kaldorei lands and use her skills and abilities to defeat common enemies for benefit of all of Azeroth. Eventually as shadowy groups such as the Twilight Hammers grew, she was forced to take a more stealthy approach. She decided to poise as a nobody. Further more, she had given much thought of the outside world and its races. Even if she had a hatred for most of them she decided it was perhaps time to venture out and grow out of the elven forests, see what the world it self has to offer. Hear the opinions of other races about her own people and perhaps change them to better. But in truth that was not even half of it. With the borders now open she was consumed by wanderlust, but in such state she thought that perhaps if other alliance races note that the Kaldorei are willing to go out of their forests to help others even if under heavy siege by the horde it self. Then, perhaps they would turn to the Kaldorei and help her own people despite the newest addition of worgen within their lands and the alliance tearing through Barrens like a wildfire.

In her travels she had visited Stormwind, Ironforge and in the end Hearthglen. At first, in Stormwind, she looked upon the high stone walls with distaste but grew to understand why they needed them. The humans are far from being like the Kaldorei, not all of them are fighters and strong people who are in tune with the nature. It was their way of survival, she learned to accept it and was happy to see humans build parks and preserve nature to an extent unlike the goblins and the orcs who simply tear down through everything. She always refused to take the tram to Ironforge, she preferred walking. No flight master would get her to pay up and fly off to Ironforge. But alas in her leather outfit, the cold soon got to her as she approached the snowy lands. There, she had gotten her plate armor.

As she entered and walked past the gates, freezing, the dwarves looked upon her and one of them shouted out. "Aren't ye freezin' lass?"

Nellina would hate to admit it, but she gave off a brief nod. The dwarves welcomed her and offered her a place to warm herself up within the taverns of Ironforge it self. After some time there she began to make friends, no matter how silent she could get. They valued her for her honesty, but not only that, she developed somewhat of a humor among them.

One day, one of her dwarven friends approached her. "'Ey lass... Yer gonna freeze 'op out there, ye kno'?" Nellina understood the cold temperatures of the dwarven lands and eventually succumbed to the idea of wearing something warmer, thicker and more protective. The dwarves offered to create her a full set of green plate armor in exchange for coin, a couple of favors which involved fighting kobolds, Dark Irons and trolls.

Much of Dun Morogh reminded her of Winterspring, she admired the snowy landscape and enjoyed it. She would not stay all too long there, soon it was time to move. In her travels she went towards the last destination of her travels, a place where she heard that all races work together and set aside their differences.

As she grew closer to her final destination, to the bastion of the Argents, she found herself under attack by a group of undead. Striking them down one by one, she became surrounded. No matter how much she would swing her sword, always more seemed to come her way. Being tackled off of her feet, she soon noted she was not alone as an orcish voice shouted out. "Lok'tar ogar! For the Argent Crusade!" The orc ran over and kicked the minion off of Nellina, bashing in his skull in the end. After him followed a blood elven priestess, striking the undead with holy light and shackling them. Human riflemen fired off from the bushes, the battle was over and the orc stood above her, offering a hand to get up.

This is a moment she never thought she'd live to see, saved by an orc, a Sin'dorei and a couple of humans. She would not die today even though she feared not death. She had lived long enough. Her eyes stared at the orc for a good moment and she accepted his hand as the tension rose around them. Once she was up, the Argents sighed in relief.

The orc spoke. "You are far from home, elf."

After a brief chat with them, they took her back to safety of their base which was Hearthglen. She spent some time there, observing the diversity of the races and how many of them got along. How they decided to set their differences aside to fight for a common goal. She felt she owed them and as such decided to sign up with the Argent Crusade. Indeed, she had been looked upon as if an alien within the city of Hearthglen. There were some male Kaldorei within the Argents, but females were a rarity.

There she met commander Krilari Dawnsend and the champion Reigen. Surprised that she is being recruited by Sin'dorei, she did not speak much of it. Her answers were brief and clear and she made it known that they will not get any trouble from her. After many of these events, she changed, for better or worse that is left for others to judge.

After joining up with the Crusade she began to understand that their neutrality can be used to her advantage to gain information and to walk unharmed through certain areas but not all. The Argent Crusade tabard can open many doors as much as it can close. Some do not respect the neutrality of such an organization and despite her abusal of her position which remains unknown to others, she finds those people dishonorable and simple minded. One should not mistake her intentions within the Crusade, she respects the organization and does as told. It is merely a way for her to fall in with the others and retain an glimpse of freedom while traveling. She does not have any objective as a warden. She is out there to seek out targets of opportunity which may present a danger to Kaldorei or the people of Azeroth in general. Often she is called back to Mount Hyjal to fight or elsewhere. She answers those calls gladly.

When things get stressful she retreats to the Glade in middle of Desolace. She takes comfort in seeing the ancients and the regrowth of the land. It reminds her of times past and often she defends the place or simply patrols around it. While doing so she enjoys the scenery of the small glade and it gives her hope.
