Information

Player: Beltharean

Character Full Name: Nadir

Character In-Game Name: Nadir

Nickname(s): With the complex society that the Ethereals have made, it's considered rude to call a person by their name if you aren't considered a good friend or ally. As such, Nadir responds to Friend, Stalker, Raider, Sir, and other such titles.

Association(s): Ethereal Organizations: The Consortium, and more loosely the Protectorate. Corporeal Organizations: The Sha'tar, and the Trade Coalition. Leans more toward the Alliance due to business plans with the Blood Elves falling through, and being allied with the Sha'tar.

Race: Ethereal

Display ID: 20466

Duration: Persistent

Purpose: To begin random events, or more thought out storylines (depending on the time, place, and purpose) based around smuggling, stealing, trading, or artifact hunting. Nadir's view on selling will make him open to any and all organizations, and as such the most RP viable as possible. He'll be taking part in Protectorate, Scryer, and Aldor events if their respective leaders will have him.

Location: Primarily in Outland, when on ‘down-time,' but may travel to Booty Bay or Ratchet to gather morally ambiguous adventurers to smuggle or raid. For the more acceptable events I'll be running, he'll look for people in Dalaran and/or Shattrath. Events -will- take Nadir across both worlds, even if his main hub is the Stormspire. He may eventually find out about the Catacombs, and bring any Old God, Necromantic, or Demonic artifacts he finds to sell there.

Class: Rogue

Age: Unknown

Sex: Male

Hair: N/A

Eyes: N/A

Weight: His only weight comes from his wrappings, making him weigh almost nothing.

Height: 5'11

Appearance

Usual Garments/Armor: Two ancient daggers that have been reforged so many times over the years, with so many metals, that they are hardly what they once were. These blades were the very same Nadir used all those years ago on K'aresh to raid caravans, hold up lone merchants, and protect his family. Aside from these blades, he has picked up a single glaive in his voyages, for when his daggers are either not on hand, or when the situation demands for them.

His bandages have been specifically enchanted not only to hold his incorporeal form in a pleasant and practical shape, but for the purposes of skulking through the shadows. They grant him a lesser form of ‘invisibility,' dulling the glow beneath his bandages to nothing, and making the bandages themselves (and any armour or weapons with Nadir) transparent.

Other

Nadir's Code of Ten:

1. Keep your family and business separated.

2. Don't become tied down.

3. Never, under any circumstances, live solely on the salary of a thief

4. Help other thieves.

5. Keep secrets secret.

6. Always doll punishments yourself; Don't send lackeys, unless they accompany you.

7. Only gamble what you have.

8. Teach the trade of Thievery to any young beginners.

9. Network, as much as possible. Have informants in all rank and file of all societies.

10. Make good on promises to other thieves.

Personality

Alignment: Lawful Neutral

While Nadir may be a thief, smuggler, and cut-throat merchant, he also has a code of honor and respect as many of the Ethereals do. He will only call his good friends by their first names, curses as little as possible (especially in the presence of a child or women), and tries as hard as he can not to kill those he steals from. The best crime is one the victim never sees.

Nadir has a grudge against the Blood Elves, not only for allying with the Legion, but for backing out on the trade agreements his people and they had set up. He understands that these Elves were under Kael'thas, but in his mind they can't be too far different from the elves of the Horde. The Ethereal sympathizes with the orcs, having had his world destroyed by demons as well, but views their codes of honor rather pointless. Goblins are, and always will be, the perfect rival for Nadir, while at the same time the perfect trade partner. He views the small green men as corporeal Ethereals with no morals, and is well acquainted with their style of trade.

Where trade is concerned, Nadir is willing to sell to any and all buyers; Be they Scourge, Alliance, Horde, or even the occasional member of the Legion if no one is looking. This view on business has worked for him so far, and this has furthered his relationship with the Goblins. He does however, favor the Alliance over most other organizations. The Draenei receive the greatest discounts on his wares.

History

On the desert planet of K'aresh, Nadir was born into a nomadic band of raiders and thieves, traveling from oasis to oasis between attacks. The social hierarchy of the group placed arcanists at the top, and the smuggler, thieves, etc. at the bottom. Unfortunately for Nadir, he had absolutely no arcane affinity. He grew his life training with two ancestral daggers passed down through his family.

Blades in hand, Nadir began going out on trade expeditions with groups from his tribe at a young age. With these weapons, he defended the caravans from opponent groups on the way to the cities. It was in these attacks that his fighting style was molded. He became an expert stalker, hiding in barrels, crates, and even on the bottom sides of wagons before pouncing upon his prey. It only helped that his naturally short and wiry frame allowed him to access these areas more easily.

As time passed, dark malevolent creatures began to spread across the deserts. It was discussed over the campfires where they could have come from... Some of the arcanists argued it was a divine retribution of sorts. The more practical of them figured it was a result of the magic they had used for so long. In any case, The Void had come.

After some time, the leader of the onslaught Dimensius approached the world of K'aresh. Thankfully for Nadir, and the majority of his family (Father, mother, brother, and sister), they had been within a city trading when the news of people being torn apart by the arcane reached them. In an attempt to hold back the Void's powers, the arcanists and engineers created barriers around the cities. Nadir's father (an arcanist) aided in these efforts, accompanied by his son, who managed to ‘lift' any reagent his father would demand.

Even with these barricades against the magic of the demons however, the arcane tore into the K'areshians, ripping away their physical forms. This gave way to a new being; The Ethereal. It was soon found (through the use of Ethereal hologram technology) from other cities that one could create magical bindings to hold their new forms together. Nadir was among the first in his city to receive them, as his father hastily worked on more for his whole family.

For an indefinite amount of time, the (now) Ethereals fought back against the void, Nadir using the same blades as he had before to slice through shadowy flesh. It was all for naught however, as his people were driven back further and further. Eventually, they were forced to take flight... Quite literally, as it may seem. With the weak connection between Nether and K'aresh, the Ethereals were able to transport themselves to other worlds, where they began trading with the native inhabitants. For many years this went on, from planet to planet through the Nether, always fighting against the void.

Eventually, the Ethereals ended up on Outland, where Nadir now resides. The broken planet reminded him of home somewhat, seeing it torn apart by demonic magic. That, and the Void creatures that ran across it's surface. His main allegiance was to the Consortium, as it had been for ages... However, he was also closely allied with the Protectorate, trying to stop the vile Etherium from their ‘do-whatever-it-takes' mentality against the void. As it would turn out, they were trying to become void themselves.

As the Burning Crusade came to an end, Nadir was forced to make way into Azeroth as all his trade clients went back to their world now that the demonic threat was (nearly) vanquished. Taking his people's technology to the new world, he attempted to sell Bio-Dome schematics and materials to people in the blighted lands of Northrend, Feralas, The Plaguelands, and other assorted corrupted areas. Their steep price was too much for many, but Nadir was able to sell several, thus solidifying his respect amongst the goblins who transported him.

Several more expeditions into Azeroth were made by the Ethereal, the last few centered around retrieving the astounding amount of powerful artifacts on the world. Ata'mal crystals seemed like nothing compared to the treasures Azeroth may hold. In any case, Nadir still considers Outland his home away from home, and returns after each journey to the world of the Humans to fight the void, and simply garner the company of his own people.
