Appearance

Monty is a fairly average Elf in proportions, with avian features and a narrow shoulder breadth. His day-to-day work outfit comprises of stained overalls, but he rarely shows his face in public without changing into something a little more respectable. (A decision not of his own, but his family.) He usually sticks to fairly simple, comfortable garments, though he has his fair share of lavish, exotic outfits for the times when they are needed.

Personality

Monteveir is a malleable person - his personality depends entirely on what he is doing and the company he holds. If he is disinterested, he tends to be absent minded and scatter brained. His hands will find something to fiddle with and his attention will detract. However, if he is interested in what he is doing he is determined, focused and efficient.

Overall a kind, philanthropic person who sees his primary goal the aid of others, Monty has earned himself many friends in many areas of Silvermoon city. He is generous with his wealth, and is as happy to speak to a lowly beggar than he is the most lustrious noble. An introverted, but social being, Monty loves to discuss near any topic, though he gets anxious and irritated in larger crowds or too long spent without having some time in his own company.

Not so much pious as quietly faithful, Monty is a pragmatic, down-to-earth being who believes that problems are solved by actions, not prayers; still, he has faith in the light as a method for bringing his people together.

History

Monteveir was born to the heads of the Viel'thadonis noble house. He was the second born, just shy of a year younger than his elder sister, Tandraelyn. Naturally, Monty had a comfortable childhood, and was a bright, inquisitive young boy in his pre-teen years. As a child, Monty leaned less towards the clergyman's path. Although by no means was he faithless, he was and is a naturally down-to-earth, pragmatic being and became interested in other things. Monty was hungry for knowledge, and less so for friends, and as his knowledge grew of the world, he became interested in magic.

Monty turned to large tomes and opuscules in an attempt to sate his hunger for knowledge. Of course, a child's obsessions come and go - except, this particular one did not. He began to turn to his mother, an established arcanist, for tutorship, but was not granted such a thing for he was too young to play with magic. Dismay was soon cast aside in place of enthusiasm once again, and Monty's theoretical knowledge of the workings of magic became dramatically advanced for his age. However, his social skills and skill in the more applicable facets of life, such as sport and combat were neglected.

Monty's journey to adolescence became less abnormal as the balance of his time began to become more conventional. He began to spend more time with his sister and developed new friends through her. Still, his hunger for magic was not sated, and the very day he broke into legal adulthood he pursued his mother to seek magical tuition. His request was granted.

Many years passed in uniform fashion. Responsibilities of business began to rear their head as Monty grew closer to social adulthood, and his life began to become less and less exciting. Tidings of war came from far south. Monty was nowhere near enthusiastic, but was aware enough to realize he had little choice in whether he was to fight or not. He traveled out of Silvermoon - the first major trip of his life - and through the vast land of Quel'thalas to the Dwarven kingdoms. The war was an uneventful one for Monty. He fought little, and when he did, he achieved little. He was not cut out for combat.

Upon his return to his home, his duties lied in the family business - alchemy. He was asked to look into the majestic machines that were the backbone of his trade. Although he had only to fix a minor problem, he was interested in how the machines worked. Until then he had payed them no thought, but after being face-to-panel, his curiosity was sparked. Engineering began to take up his spare time, and it soon became his main duty in the business. He worked to maintain the fantastical machines and create new, more efficient contraptions. It was during this time the First War came and went - Monteveir was not interested.

Before long, the Second War began to stir. The Orcish Horde had ravaged Azeroth in their bloodlust, and the Alliance begged the assistance of many. Monty took talk of the extrinsic invasion more seriously than many others, but took his parents' wishes to heart and stayed where he was. Still, he was one of the first to move to the borders of the woods and repel the attacks. His magical aptitude had increased considerably and he took his fair share of Orcish lives. He did not incline towards war, but he did what was necessary with little complaint.

Silvermoon was in unrest for the next years. Business dwindled just slightly, but Monty kept on with his daily life. So far, he had managed to stay away from the politics that came with his position, and this was to his liking. His knowledge of technology continued to prosper, and he joined Silvermoon's society of engineers.

Then came the Third War. The events to come wracked all of Azeroth to its core, but only one of them affected Monteveir. The Scourge had begun its black crusade to the Sunwell, and before long it had reached Eversong Woods. Monteveir was in a far corner of Silvermoon; he was a noble, he was important. The undead debouched through his city without mercy. His parents were among those presumed deceased.

Monty aided the Magistry in rebuilding the city, earning himself a favorable name for the work he did. His world began to settle, but the damage had been done and his once lustrious people had been practically wiped out. He could do little but continue his philanthropic work and try to aid the less well-off than he as much he could. In fact, it was this that led him to delve into techno-magery. Desperate to increase the efficiency of his machines, he began to experiment with enchantments. He soon realized that machinery lends itself to magic; the two work harmoniously under the correct circumstances. He greatly improved not only his business but his own self, taking an interest in designing gadgets and augments for his own person.

From then on, he remained in similar fashion. Silvermoon began to restore itself to equilibrium, if slowly, and his life began to normalize. He stepped up to the challenge of politics - he was learned on the subject and knew it was among his many duties to represent his household.
