Personality

Miloraik is a defender, through and through. He is very submissive, wanting to be ordered around and told how to fight and when to jump and how high, etc. He isn't the normal paladin in the sense of defending the weak and protecting the poor, but instead fights for a cause, any cause, whether it be a religion, a noble house, or something similar, not really caring about pay or compensation. Rather, he just wants purpose in his life. He sometimes slinks into a depression over the death of his family in the sacking of Quel'thalas, but with some coaxing can be quickly lifted out of these bouts. He has elven pride, and is against cross-species romance. He considers the enemies of whatever cause he fights for to be his enemies, and doesn't feel conflicted when he switches allegiances and fights a different enemy, even if they're his former employers. He's the ideal, loyal servant.

History

Milo was born hundreds of years ago, to a servant family that worked for a noble high elf family in Quel'thalas. So, naturally, he was raised with a predisposition to serve and be happy to serve, often being a server at parties and gatherings held by the nobles. He learned to speak with saying anything, and to listen without hearing. He spoke only when spoken to, and did as he was bidden. Milo was always happy to serve, as well; it made him feel wanted, which wasn't the case with his family. His parents did not use contraception, and so Milo turned out to be an accident. This earned him the contempt of his older sister and his parents. His youth was mostly uneventful, until he drew the eye of the patron of the noble house. The patron realized how obedient this particular servant was, despite his misfortune of living in a family that hated him, and ordered his men-at-arms and weapon-masters to train him in the art of swordsmanship. Milo took to the blade quickly, showing his intelligence. As he grew older and into official adulthood, yet still seen as a child in the eyes of society, he was hired by the nobles as a guard. He served faithfully and was unwavering in his desire to please his employer.

As the Farstriders were formed, Milo considered resigning from his post as a noble guard to join them, protecting the city and working for a greater cause. He was no ranger, however, and wasn't very good in the wilderness, spending almost his entire life in the city except for the very rare errand that sent him outside of Quel'thalas's walls. He felt envy for one of the first times in his life when his sister, who was a game hunter for the kitchens, was given permission by the patron to leave and join the Farstriders. The young high elf kept these emotions to himself, however, and continued to serve as the patron's most trusted guard. As a reward for his tireless watch over the family, he was elevated to the captain of the Goldfinger family's guard. His envy died out with this promotion, and instead was replaced with happiness for his sister. He realized that, as long as one serves faithfully, one can achieve dreams they didn't even know they had. Milo proved himself a competent commander, getting to know the two dozen or so guards in the family's estate. He knew his men well, and was able to accurately gauge their strengths and weaknesses, helping them learn and improve. He scheduled their watches according to what would work best, and knew who got along with who.

Milo continued on as the guard captain for years, happy to serve the Goldfingers. He didn't do much else until the Second War, when the humans of the Alliance called upon the High Elves to aid them in battle against the orcs. Seeing that the Goldfinger family was nobility, they needed to send troops south to aid their allies. The family was able to raise about two-hundred levies, and as Milo was the most trusted of the inner guards in the estate, he was chosen by the patron of the family to lead the two-hundred men and women to battle against the orcs. Milo did so dutifully and willingly, anything for his patron. So, he became a veteran of the Second War, but at the cost of his reputation. Of two-hundred soldiers, four dozen survived. He had reportedly been incapable of handling the command of people under such heavy pressure, and this news reached the ears of the Goldfinger patron. He kept Milo as his captain of the guard, deciding not to send him to fight again in the third war when it arrived. Instead, he trained to be a paladin, as to be the chaplain and captain of the guard for the noble house.

It didn't matter, because the Scourge came to town and sacked the city. Milo was ordered to extract the youngest Goldfinger, only two years old and sickly, out of the city during the attack. He did so, and met up with troops evacuating civilians from the city. He sailed around the kingdom of Lordaeron, fleeing South. During the journey, the young Goldfinger died from health complications, destroying the noble line. When he landed, he found himself aboard another ship, this time as a regular soldier to combat the Burning Legion and the Scourge that had destroyed his home. He sailed to Kalimdor, and fought in the coalition of orcs, night elves and humans to beat back the demonic invaders. During this time, Milo began to intake Fel to substitute the Sunwell. He found it to be more satisfying than the magic, and didn't see an issue with using it, so he continued to take in the dark power even after the Sunwell was restored. After the Third War ended, he traveled home to the new Silvermoon City, where he honored the Goldfinger family with a memorial grave, and often pays his tributes to them for giving him everything he had in life. Now, he searches for new purpose.
