Melissa is a very distrusting girl due to a few dramatic events in her life. She hardly goes out of her way to speak to someone, as she much rather be left alone to her own devices. She assumes that every time she meets someone, that they could do some terrible or harmful to her. She likes to distance herself from the 'crowd', often wandering into a remote location to simply think and ponder about things.

Some might call her absent-minded as she tends to blank out while in deep thought, simply losing track of things around her. Melissa is quiet when she talks, unless enraged or comfortable with the person she's speaking to. This has all been reduced due to the therapy of love, however; without the support crutch of her lover she may revert back to the shell mindset. She's very protective of people and objects she loves and of the harmless and innocent. Otherwise, she doesn't even stand up for herself.

Once her hard shell is broken, she can be very friendly and open to a friend. She doesn't judge others too harshly. Melissa doesn't see a 'good' and 'evil' between the schools of arcane or deities' magic. However, she doesn't likes to be associated with the insane and crazies, or the zealots and crusaders. Simple, normal people are best for her to be around.

History

Melissa was born to the Fairstar family, many years after their first born Krest. The family started poor, but became engaged in a growing business for blacksmithing. The parents were so devoted to their work that they decided that they would hold off from having another child. Melissa came along after a few centuries, and grew up to have a natural interest in arcane. Drawing away from the family's trade, she was enrolled into an academy for general education and an introduction to arcane. While she wasn't the greatest student, she managed to pass through without too much struggle. Melissa never connected well with her parents, often spending her free time reading or drawing in her room. Friends were hard to come by, but she seemed well without them.

A decade before the Third War began, Melissa was shipped off to Dalaran by her parents to study the arcane as her profession in life. She was contend in the city, having a great experience and a major impact onto her life. She was able to be open to her fellow students, talking about the topics she loved and even managed to create a few friendships. One man caught her eye, an elf like herself. He was a charming, handsome young mage, and belonged to a noble House. The two got along very well and a romance grew between the pair. All was well in her life, until the Scourge sieged Silvermoon.

Upon hearing the news and the sudden absences of the Sunwell, Melissa and her male companion soon raced back home to find it completely and utterly destroyed. Her lover's House, well-known herbalists, were nearly wiped out. Melissa was struck as well when she learned that her parents were burnt alive inside their home. Despite not having a firm connection, she mourned over the loss of her family.

The lack of Sunwell was harsh upon Melissa, nearly crippling her until she began to gorge herself upon Fel. She became excited about it, the mysteriousness and power behind it soon gave way to her old teaching. She adopted this new school of arcane. The young elf soon became her fiancée, but it would not last. Melissa became heavily addicted to Fel and despite pleads from her lover, she couldn't listen. The addiction was far too corrupting on her weak will, driving her to research what other abilities she could use with Fel. Finally fed up, her to-be husband left, telling her that when she quit they would talk. Melissa tried to make him understand that it was impossible for her to give up such a potent form of arcane, but it fell on deaf ears.

Crestfallen, she was left to her sorry condition. Renting a bed in one of the inns after her funds wen dry, she has begun to draw herself away from the public's eye. Retreating to private locations, and often not speaking at all. This condition only became worst when she visited Booty Bay to buy a certain book she was unable to locate in Silvermoon. Melissa was set to meet with the seller outside of the Bay, for what reason the girl did not know. When she arrived she was met with a Sin'dorei slaver and associates, whom proceed their ambush by beating her until she ceased struggling. She was bounded, gagged and hauled off to their camp. There she went under unmentionable and cruel treatment to ensure that her will was broken. Melissa managed to escape when her slaver was nearly killed by an unknown group that was after his blood. She retreated to Silvermoon, determined that she would never leave ever again.

The lowest point came when Melissa experimented with demons. Recent texts she read planted an idea in her mind that if she could master these monsters, perhaps they would grant her strength so that she would be able to defend herself. She attempted to summon and bind a void walker to her control, but instead was beaten to near death in failure. The demon went on to attempt to drain a sanctum of its energy, but a strike team of Sin'dorei managed to bring the foul creature down. The final attempt Melissa conducted was summoning a mere imp. Once more, the binding attempted failed, however Melissa did manage to send the demon back to the nether rather than allowing it to roam freely. She suffered terrible burns in return, dragging herself back to her home. Suicidal thoughts crossed her mind now, as she wondered if death might be the only answer to solve this vicious cycle.

However, things turned around, somewhat. Melissa, for Light knows why, boarded a ship to Kalimdor. Of course the ship was attacked by pirates. She thought that she could save the crew by sacrificing herself, she would be content dying. She stood up to the pirates, they attempted to seize her. Instead of surrendering, she engulfed herself in flames, trying to burn them and herself down. Of course, the tactic failed, only causing minor damage to the pirates but fatal injuries to Melissa. The raiders ignored her dying body and moved on. Unknowing to the pirates, she had a few health stones stored onto her person, managing to stay alive while the ship turned around and returned to Silvermoon.

Melissa entered Silvermoon with tattered robes and burns all over her body. She went to the Sunspire where the priests were located, seeking aid. A Blood Knight, Aravali Emberwind, greeted her after see how damaged Melissa was. She offered to heal her back at Aravali's apartment, since privacy was needed for the treatment. After the gruesome healing process was finished, a certain bond was formed between the two women. Aravali was Melissa's knight in shining armor and even knowing that she was a warlock, the Blood Knight did not judge. The two began to see each other, attempting to keep their devolving affections secret and private. Successful dates after some time resulted in the two sharing Aravali's room at the inn, living together in blissful harmony. Aravali even managed to convince Melissa to break away from her addiction to Fel, since the Sunwell was restored, she has a better chance of surviving.

The process was brutal and damaging, to survive a week without Fel. While successful in breaking the habit's chains, it robbed Melissa half of her already weak ability of arcane and part of her eyesight. Once she recovered, she felt like a new elf. Studying into alchemy and working for the Magistry as an office worker, Melissa now attempts to enjoy the life she's managed to put together with Aravali.
