Personality

Marlowe is, above all else, consumately and practically self-serving. He does not consider morality relevant. Those with whom he associates are those who have something to offer him- when he has no further use for them, he leaves. He is not cruel, or misanthropic, but neither is he honorable or righteous. Marlowe's focus is his study of the arcane arts and his personal resevoir of power and influence. There is nothing off limits, and nothing out of question, where those two things are concerned. Marlowe tries to conduct himself politely and efficiently as possible. In his experience, it is easier to get what he wants that way.

Marlowe has, in his time with the Aula Arcanum, come to understand the power of being polite. Showing any amount of courtesy, more often then not, engenders good will-and Marlowe knows that is something he can take advantage of at a later time. He has been extraordinarily careful to cultivate enough relationships wherein he is considered reliable. That is enough for him, for now. Marlowe is, if nothing else, a neat and careful monster.

The Forsaken has only one overriding drive, and that is the acquisition of power. Until now, it has been 'power' in the most abstract sense. For now, Marlowe is satisfied to explore the depths and reach of his arcane talents.

History

Marlowe Cristof was born the son of a wealthy mortician in Lordaermon's capitol city. An only son, Marlowe's interest in the arcane arts were supported by his father, and Marlowe was admitted to a magical academy shortly before the onset of the plague that devestated that kingdom. Marlowe and his father were lucky enough to escape the plague alive- but in a cruel twist, Marlowe would meet his mortal demise while the pair fled. His son struck down by a half-crazed bandit on the road out of Lordaemon. Being a mortician, Gerard Cristof took the time to embalm, preserve, and bury his son's body before making his escaping to the lands around Stormwind.

Marlowe, when he awoke as a Forsaken, knew little about his mortal life. Little did he care, for that matter. All that followed him was a yearning to learn of magic. It did not take him long to begin to seek out the Aula Arcanum - an organization dedicated to the schooling of magic in nearly all its forms - in order to begin anew the path he'd begun as a mortal human.

The Forsaken's current preoccupation is to enchant a monocle with the ability to percieve the normally invisible, intangible zephyrs of arcane energy used in spells. He believes that, were he able to see the constituent parts of a spell another was beginning to cast, before it became active, he could thereby preempt the spell with an appropriate counterspell. Thus far he has been unsuccessful.

He has also of late begun to take an interest in variations of several well-known and commplace combat spells. It is only a matter of time before he begins study via human experimentation- a fact of which some at the Aula Arcanum might not approve.

What Marlowe does not know is that his father started another family in Stormwind- in fact started a new Cristof line entirely. The Forsaken has yet to learn of this fact, and it is unclear what impact it would have whatosever on the now compeltely amoral Marlowe.
