Appearance

Marian takes after his mother well. While unable to wear armor effectively, he chooses light tunics that ease movement. He usually prefers the same sort of tunics his mother wears in noble events. He cares about his outer appearance greatly - His clothes are always well kept and cleaned, and a servant will die if not.

Other: His dagger possesses and enchantment of his own creation. It works in a similar fashion to a runeblade, absorbing and storing fel energy for him to use. Needless to say, without the knife, he cannot enchant his spells with fel. (Unless he actually has demon blood to drink.)

Marian has a burning hatred of freckles for reasons he cannot fully understand.

Personality

He follows his mother suit. Cold and calculative, he learned by example to be ruthless and murder any who he deemed a failure or a betrayer. Marian's ultimate wish is to earn the recognition of his mother, and for this reason, he may even side against her - However, always to try and aid. If he believes one of her plans will lead to failure, he will voice clear complaint, and even mobilize against it, to try and prove her wrong. He is not afraid of his mother in the slightest, and he may - and will - voice complaint over her if he believes necessary, believing no reprisal will occur.

All in all, Marian is a capricious young man with a flavor for the wicked, but insecure. He wants to live up to his mother's expectations of him and grow to become a man to be relied upon by her and her allies, but he second guesses his own choices. Every time he casts a fel spell, however, these thoughts seem to momentarily fade away, replaced by the fel's euphoric feel of power. Due to that, he is somewhat sympathetic to his mother's reasons.

History

Some would say Marian had been spoiled from the day he was born. Others would say he was spoiled even before that. The first child was expected with great eagerness, and had rooms of toys, books and whatever he could possibly ever desire in his first few years of life.

His mother was warm and every memory he ever had of her from the beginning is a good one. He was loved and loved her a lot in return. Even as a child, Marian had already decided he'd become whatever his mother wanted him to become.

He had a sister, but barely had time to form an opinion on her. Although both were close to their mother as kids, they also had to go to separate tutors to learn how to be a lord and a lady, to have proper etiquette, and their respective arts.

When he was but five years old, a mage in town affirmed that Marian had a "knack for the thing." Showing this arcane prowess, his Mother hired the best tutors to teach him the fine Art of the arcane. He learned eagerly, as it was expected of him, being ultimately shielded of the events that surrounded his mother and family, burrowed in his books.

Every now and then, though, his mother would come spend time with him. During the first ten years of his life, she'd occasionally sit entire afternoons at his side merely watching the boy study. He greatly appreciated this, although he didn't see much point to it.

And then his mother started to grow distant. He was more often than not spending entire weeks without seeing her once, confined to his tutors and teachers. Her mother ultimately sent him away to Dalaran, but gave him a tome to take with. She only told him to not let anyone see it and guard it well. In that meeting, the woman showed almost no resemblance to the warm mother he remembered.

The tome was a guide to the fel arts. Marian was surprised, but managed to keep it hidden from the guards - He assumed his father had placed some sort of spell in it, as their own attempts to detect the magic proved futile.

The book had detailed instructions on how to create a vessel to store demonic energies, and later use it to empower the arcane. Marian quickly turned a kitchen knife into that vessel, but he lacked the demonic blood to try it out. However, everything was the point of knowing who to ask.

A letter to his mother revealed both that his father had passed away and a spell to conjure a minor demon.

He sneaked out of Dalaran to summon this weak demon, and managed to successfully overpower it. He didn't wish to bind it, however, and instead simply stabbed it multiple times with the knife after making sure he couldn't cast any spells. As the knife drank the demon's blood, it began to softly glow for a moment as the blood seemingly vanished from it, and then stopped. He knew then the fel power and how strong it was.

The next years of his life consisted of learning how to empower his spells with the dark energies. When Dalaran was sacked by the undead, he simply followed the survivors out. To him, Antonidas was ultimately a fool to die to save their people. Sending a thousand students to fight off Arthas would provide similar distraction and a smaller loss.

Nonetheless, he stayed in the dome, researching the wicked ways of the tome his mother gave him, until the events of the Wrath of the Lich King. At that time, he left Dalaran without a backwards glance to seek his mother and prove to her his growth.
