History

Hector was born and raised in Westfall by his family. His father, Richard Malbranore, was the owner of a small farm near the coast. When he was a child, he used to spend most of his time in the farm, helping his father, and playing with the other kids in Moonbrook and the surrounding plains. His uncle, Elrich, was a student of arcane magic who lived in Stormwind. He would often come to Westfall to visit the family. Hector loved to have his uncle around, he would always be very excited everytime he knew he was coming. As Hector would describe him: "He was funny and much of a joker. His knowledge was vast, and his tales interesting. He would always carry a smile on his face, no matter how bad things were going".

Then, the First War started. As soon as Hector's father knew about the orcs marching towards Stormwind, he sent word to his brother asking him to come to live with him. And so, uncle Elrich left Stormwind behind and went to live with his family. On the day of his arrival, Hector was sitting by the road, expecting a robed man and a pack horse to appear in the horizon at any moment. After one long and painfull afternoon, the expected figure finally appeared. Hector rushed towards him. His happiness was overwhelming. Having his uncle around all the time was the best thing that could have happened in the boring land of Westfall. He quickly made himself at home, claiming the basement as his bedroom. The first things he unpacked was his tomes and reagents. Some of those things were quite questionable. Hector's father just couldn't understand why would his brother carry spider blood, a goat's skull, a demonic figurine and a living toad which seemed more intelligent than usual with him.

Hector discovered the world of the arcane at the age of 12, a few weeks after his uncle's arrival. He taught him about arcane magic in his spare time. At first, it was just a hobby, but one day, after setting a bully's clothes on fire, his parents and the nearby neighbours started to worry. "I used it in self defense, just like uncle Elrich taught me", Hector said. From that day on, the local population started to distrust uncle Elrich. Richard swore to keep an eye on his brother's works, and that night, he had a serious conversation about it with him.

As years passed by, Hector's magical studies were getting deeper and deeper. By now, his uncle had already introduced him to fel magic. Elrich managed to keep his true identity a secret so far. Until one night, a group of outlaws planned to rob Richard's farm and the other two farms nearby. Eleven men, armed with daggers, swords and axes, divided themselves into three groups and bursted into the houses. Elrich was still working in the basement that night. After realizing what was going on, he began some sort of summoning. The intense purple and green light coming from the basement caught the four men's attention. They slowly approached it. After taking the stairs down, the lights stopped glowing. A few seconds later, two felguards twice their size appeared right in front of them. With Elrich's help, the demons managed to defeat the four men. After that, they moved on to the other two houses. Two of the bandits got away. The demons were unsummoned right after the fight, sent back to where they came from.

The farms were saved, but at what cost? Sooner or later the soldiers of the Light would know about this incident. The population decided to keep a secret (after all their monetary belongings had been saved), but it was no use. One month later, a group of guards knocked on the door. They were there to take Elrich with them. Someone had told them about the incident. There was no use in fighting or trying to escape, there were two paladins with the guards, they were prepared for any demon. All of Elrich's belongings were confiscated. Elrich was hanged the next day and buried in the local graveyard.

Hector never forgot about his uncle. After his death, a hatred for the Light has grown inside him. At the age of 24, Hector moved to Stormwind hoping to find others like him and continue his studies. There he remains to the present day...
