Personality

A moderately patient joker, who feels his life is half-pointless, due to his newfound companion, Filestrider. He is optimistic, and loves all life. His personality has been influenced by his parents, and elder brother. Ever since his elder brother died, however, he has struggled to keep his way of life. He avoids conflict and obviously only fights when there is no other option. Mahhal is neutral to all races, and will treat them all as equals. He is also sick of the constant fighting between Horde and Alliance. His favourite Race (Other than Taurehe) is the Night Elves, due to their similar connection with Nature. He can often be found following his new friend, Maulbane, attempting to befriend his pet, Filestrider, or drinking coffee in cafe's and bars.

History

Mahhal lived a simplistic life. He had been raised to do what he thought was right, and to be optimistic about everything. He had his two parents, Rygen and Alga Thunderhoof, and an elder brother, Nahren Thunderhoof. His father, was a warrior, so Mahhal was trained to be good with axes, while his mother, was a hunter, making Mahhal practice his shooting every day.

Now, Mahhal and Nahren, didn't fit in with other Taurahe children, so they preferred finding their own company. Mahhal and Nahren went out every day, and played with the baby Plainstriders out in the field. They often got into trouble with the Adult Plainstriders, who seemed to think that these two defenseless (Due to a lack of weaponry, and armour) Taurahe were going to be a threat their children, and chased them away.

One late afternoon in the summer, this was the case. Nahren and Mahhal ran towards the gate, but before they could reach it, 3 Adult Plainstriders blocked the exit. They attempted to flee through the gate that led to a forbidden area, filled with Kodo. Nahren ran into the back of one of the elders, causing a stampede. For Mahhal, everything went hazy, and then fainted when hit by the tail of an elder. When he awoke, the elder Taurahe were standing around him, fearing the worst. They helped him up, and he looked around. He saw Nahren, just as they were placing a sheet of cloth over his corpse. The next evening, they laid him to rest.

Present time

Mahhal walked to Bloodhoof Village, alone. He was finally old enough to get out of the place where his life had taken a turn, for the worst. He walked into the village, hoping to find someone to help him with animals. He walked up to the Kodo dealer, to ask for assistance. “Excuse me... Is there anyone who could help me with animals and the like?”

“Well... Not me. I sell ride-on Kodo's, not pets.”

“Do you know someone I could talk to?”

“No, now get lost kid, your ruining my business!” The salesman huffed. Mahhal sighed, and walked off down the path to Thunderbluff. On the way, he heard some Taurahe being said at the lake. He turned his head slightly, to see a Female Orc, riding a Black Wolf, a short, fat-looking Male Orc, and a Tauren, a spear on his back, and a boar standing silently next to him. This could be it, he wondered to himself. He snuck up and hid behind a totem, hoping to get a sliver of what was said. “Hey! You! Behind the pole!” Called out the Male Orc. Mahhal stood up, and raised his hands. “I'm sorry!” He called out. The Tauren was obviously ignoring him. The Female Orc turned her head in Mahhal's general direction, and then turned it back to the still talking Tauren. The Male Orc started walking towards him. “Get the @$%& outta' here!” he called, abusively. “Look, I was just trying t-“

“I don't care what you're trying to do. @$%& off!” Mahhal stared blankly at the small Orc. He turned and eyed the other two up and down. They looked like they had been in a few scraps recently. He then turned back to the Orc and eyed him.. Down. This short fella' had obviously been in a lot of fights, brawls even. The angry Orc walked back to his Tauren friend, and stood there, looking stupid as ever. The Tauren started to walk towards the village, and called out to his companions “Come with me.” He eyed Mahhal, and said silently, “You too.” Mahhal, excited as ever, followed the group to the Inn.

The Tauren exchanged a pillow with the female Orc. She nodded, and left the Inn. “Now, who are you?” the Tauren said, towering over Mahhal.

“I am Mahhal Thunderhoof.”

“Maulbane, of the Fleetswoop Clan.” Maulbane turned and faced looked out the window. “What did you want?”

“I-“

"We don't need to know why he is here, just when he is leaving!" said the small Orc.

"Bu-"

"Leave!"

Mahhal walked outside the Inn, and back to the Kodo dealer, who was ferociously whipping one of the Kodo. Mahhal didn't like what he saw. “Hey! Stop whipping it!” The Kodo attempted to break the chain around its neck. “What're you gonna do about it?” Yelled the Kodo dealer. Mahhal pulled his Axe out, and slammed it into the chain, breaking the chain-links. The Kodo started to run. “What'd ya' d-“ the Dealer called out, but it was too late, Mahhal was slowly catching up to the Kodo. Mahhal grabbed the chain, now flinging itself across the ground, and threw himself onto the Kodo. He pulled back on the chain, stopping the Kodo. He climbed off, and walked to its face. “You ok?” He held its face, stroking its cheek. It grunted, flinging snot and saliva into Mahhal's face. “Ehg... You know what? I'll call you... Loch. My brother wanted to name his first stead, Loch.” Mahhal's smile was slowly dimming. He jumped back on Loch, and headed back to Bloodhoof village. On the way, he got hungry, so he reached into his sack, got out one of his loaves of bread, and started munching on it. Bread crumbs fell off the side of the Kodo, and onto the grass. A little, pink, Plainstrider ran up, and started eating whatever crumbs had fallen off. When Mahhal had stopped eating, he heard a weird sound, like a Plainstrider calling for help. He turned around and saw the little pink thing, staring up at his backpack. “Hm? You want some of this?” He said, pulling out another loaf of bread. The Plainstrider jumped and nipped his foot. “Ow!” He got off of the Kodo, and sat on the ground with the little thing. “Here.” He said, holding out a piece of bread. The Plainstrider gave Mahhal a funny look, and took the bread off of him. Mahhal let a long, drawn out sigh pass his lips. “Where am I gonna find help?” he spoke to the Plainstrider. Mahhal looked up, and stared at the Inn he had left around two hours earlier. The Orc and Maulbane were standing out the front. Maulbane Nodded, and climbed up onto his Kodo, the Orc did the same, but fell off several times. When the Orc had finally gotten up on top of the Kodo, they both nodded, and turned. This is my chance, Mahhal said to himself. He climbed atop Loch, and sat in the bony grove that was Loch's spine. The Plainstrider, obviously not satisfied with dinner, also climbed on top of the Kodo. “Well, if you're joining me, you need a name. How about...”

Flashback

“Mahhal!” Called Nahren loudly, “Come look at this!”. Mahhal got up from the table, pushed his chair in, and ran outside. Nahren was sitting down next to a currently cracking egg. “It's hatching Mahhal! It's hatching!” Mahhal was just as excited as Nahren was. “Tell you what,” Mahhal spoke, “You beat me to the fence, and you get to name the baby!”

“You're on!” Nahren said excitedly back. They lined up against the house, nodded at each other, and started to sprint to the fence. Mahhal, unfortunately, tripped, and landed on his face during the race. “Haha! I win!” yelled Nahren, “It's name is Filestrider!”

“Why Filestrider?”

“It sounds awesome!” Nahren yelled back.

End flashback

“... Filestrider...” Mahhal said, attempting to smile. He beckoned Loch forward, and away they went, after Maulbane.

Kodo Rock

Maulbane left his Kodo and Boar at Camp Narache, and walked towards Kodo Rock. Mahhal repeated his actions, except allowing Filestrider to follow him. He walked up to Maulbane, who was currently sneezing, and staring at the rock formation. “Excuse me?” Mahhal said, tapping Maulbane's shoulder. Maulbane almost jumped into the air, spinning around, and grabbing a jagged knife in a single movement. “Wha-“

“Hi” Mahhal said.

“...Mahhal...” Maulbane said silently. Mahhal was quivering from the sight of the sword. Mahhal wanted to say something, but couldn't quite get the words out. “Mahhal?” Maulbane repeated.

“Yes?” Mahhal answered. Mahhal was scared not only of the knife, but of the Tauren wielding it. Maulbane stared at Mahhal for a few moments, and then threw the knife into the ground. The knife slowly sunk into the mud. “Oh, I- Uh... I-... That is to sa-... I'm Hopeless.”

“Why are yo-“

“I need help.” Mahhal interrupted. “Training, if you will.” Maulbane let out a very short, slightly shocked chuckle. “Training? Shu'Halo?” “Yes...” Mahhal said slowly. “I figure-... You're great... And I-... Me-... Not so great... I was hoping I could find someone to teach me, and you may be it.” Maulbane blinked a few times at the not-so-great Tauren. “Doubting yourself will only limit you... Teach you?”

“Yes” Mahhal said, shuffling his feet so dust would cover his Under confident eyes. Maulbane breathed loudly. He turned to Kodo Rock, and turned back hurriedly, “I... Suppose so...” he let out. Mahhal cleared the dust, surprised at the response, “Really?”

“It depends on what you mean by training though, young one. And there is a chance I won't be able to help, depending on what you ask of me.” “I just need... To... be better... Than I am... Gah!” Mahhal, now angry and embarrassed at himself, sat on the floor, and grabbed a bit of bread out from his pack. Maulbane sighed “That is broad, Mahhal. I cannot make you better than anything, if that is what you're implying.”

“I know.” Mahhal slowly stood up, his head facing his feet. “I just need to lear- I mainly wish to learn about Beast mastery.” Maulbane blinked a few times at the young Tauren.

“Beast Mastery?”

“You know, having an animal companion? I have only learnt one thin-“

“Tauren... That... Oh, Compa-“

“Filestrider!” Mahhal called. Maulbane breathed out, mind racing, despite his composure. “He doesn't like me much...” Mahhal stated. Mahhal bent down to stroke Filestrider's neck, but Filestrider moved, and nipped his finger. “How do you keep it with you?” Maulbane queried. Mahhal broke the bread he was holding into crumbs, and threw them on the ground. Filestrider ran around, picking up whatever crumbs he could get. “Ah, that's one way... File... Strider...?” Maulbane said. “Yeah, not very creative, is it? I named it because of m-“ Mahhal gasped, trying to get the words out. “My Bro- Brother.” He made out. Maulbane gave Mahhal a funny look.

“Named... Out of Sentiment?”

“No, he named his first pet Filestrider.” Mahhal Stated. Maulbane nodded quietly.

“Aha, Filestrider.” Mahhal covered his face with his mask, and walked up to Kodo Rock, and ran his hands along the smoothest spot he could find. Filestrider started nipping at his feet, asking for more food. “His favourite spot...” Mahhal said. Maulbane eyed Filestrider for a few seconds, then looked back up at Mahhal. “I see a few things in him that I saw in Goretusk. He is defiant, and he is...” Maulbane felt something nibbling his feet. “... Hungry.” The two of them let off silent chuckles. Mahhal broke up some more bread, and threw it across the floor. “He is defiant, and displeased about something. The first of these, can be trained away with determination and care, the second however...” Maulbane shrugged “... Depends on personality.” Mahhal pulled his mask down, and turned around to race Maulbane. “So what happens now?” Maulbane looked up at Mahhal, his eyes were a red-ish colour. “There is only so much I can help you with. The main item of advice I can give you if you wish to walk down the path of the Hunter... Is Patience.” Mahhal Bowed his head. Maulbane snorted as he continued; “That's what really keeps us going.”

“Really?” Mahhal queried, looking up, “I figured this little guy would keep me going. I think I need him... I need him to stay...” Mahhal paused for a few moments. “... Sane...”

“Hmm. You will find that is the same with many Hunters, Mahhal.”

“D- Do you mind... I-if I stick with you for a wh-while?” Mahhal stuttered.

“I-... Keep with me...?” Maulbane grinded his teeth, not hiding the fact that he's staring at Mahhal, and detailing him from head to toe. “Very well.” Maulbane breathed in quickly, wondering if he made the right decision. Maulbane finished examining the Younger Tauren, nodding to himself, “But for now Mahhal, I came to pay homage to Kodo Rock.”

“I- Uh.. I Apologize.” Mahhal said, obviously apologetically.

“It's fine... If you need anything, I have enough food to feed an army alive on my Kodo.”

Mahhal stood next to Maulbane, and then kneeled before the formation. “Thank you, but I have enough in my pack.” Mahhal said, bowing his head before the statue. Maulbane kneeled slowly, staring at the shamanistic stone. “Very well. There are other things on it, rope, tinder, rocks. If you need something, it responds to Taurahe.”

“Thank you.” Mahhal nodded. Maulbane slowly receded to silence, staring at the rock avidly, like someone on pilgrimage. Mahhal and Maulbane are currently on their way to Desolace.
