Personality

Ma'arul is a silent and caring Tauren with words thoughtful and compassionate. In a conversation, Ma'arul will first observe the people participating and will listen closely to what is said. When he feels there is need for an elder word he will step in.

Ma'arul doesn't like to take lives as every soul unnessecary taken means a great deal to him. When he goes hunting he sets out with a well forged plan so no life shall be harmed if not needed, though there are situations in where mindfulness is lost in Ma'arul's acting as it is Tauren nature to turn into a state of enragement when threatened, granting them swiftness and strength.

Ma'arul is one of the cases that stands out in this as he is peaceful and silent when out of battle. But when it is necesarry...

History

Ma'arul was born in Desolace in the early summer months of Azeroth where he became part of a nomad tribe. This rather small band of Tauren kept a low profile as Centaur threat was common in these lands. Most of Desolace's borders were held by bands of Centaurs. The lands that once were so peaceful corrupted in front of the eyes of the Taurens. It was time for the tribe to leave the lands they loved so dearly. Scouts were set out to find a path south.

A constant thumping sound of Centaur hooves scattered across the plains of Desolace. Soon, the tribe would be in great danger.

When old enough, Ma'arul was trained in the ways of warfare. He would often make the other tribesmen laugh as he dragged the massive warhammer of his father trough the village. Although, in time he wielded a large branch as a weapon. After months of training, his father invited him to join the scouting party. His father was known as Stormhorn who had gained this title trough his battlecry which always honored the spirits of the sky. He was one of the warriors of the tribe and in time he would lead the warrior groups.

The scouting party went south of the region where they encountered a small group of Silithid. Stormhorn commanded the party to stand ready when the Silithid attacked. Blood pumped to Ma'arul's veins. As the Silithid approached he let out a fleshpiercing battlecry and smashed his branch into the Silithid foes. He was struck several times by the instectoids though the wounds didn't run deep into his skin. The scouting party was suprised to see that the injuries were that minor after being struck like that and thus, they granted him the nickname Kodohide.

They returned to their camp with the bodies of two of their Tauren tribesmen- The village had suffered a great loss that day. Kodohide retreated himself from the camp and headed east towards the sea. The beach was as bright as the sun itself and the water reflected sunlight like stars. He turned his head to the right- "A stranded ship?" He grabbed his branch and gripped it tight with his fingers. He sneaked towards the ship with caution. Green skinned creatures walked in and out of the ships with bodies and supplies. Kodohide knew that they could be dangerous and quickly retreated to the village with this news.

The people were shocked by hearing the news, another threat was facing them! Stormhorn decided to round up a group and travel east again to interact with the newly stranded race. The female Taurens headed out for food while a small group of male Taurens went hunting- They would present them a gift as a token of peace.

Stormhorn and his party (including Kodohide) arrived at the beach. The Tauren had a tough time walking in the soft sand but managed to reach the ship. The greenskins were careful at first but after the Tauren presented them the gifts, they settled down. They tried to interact with the Tauren though this was harder then both parties thought. They spent lots of time trying to understand each other's languages and after some time some Tauren were able to interact with the "Orcs"- an alliance was formed. Meanwhile south of all the events the Silithid gained strength and attacked the Orcs and Tauren with massive numbers.

The new alliance was horribly outnumbered and decided to travel north in a hurry and arrived upon the land we now know as the Barrens where they met the Bloodhoof Tribe- strangely the Bloodhoof Tribe had also encountered the Orcs but at another crash site east from their location. They found the leader of the Bloodhoof tribe in the main camp, It was the Chieftain named Cairne Bloodhoof and by his side a wise Orc named Thrall*. Stormhorn and his tribe decided to join forces with the Warchief and the Bloodhoof Tribe.

Ma'arul spent his time serving the Warchief and Chieftain- though these days his age prevents him from fighting and usually places him in a position where he is expected to advise and council. He is in peace with this and spends most of his time in the Bloodhoof Village (Mulgore) counciling the new warriors and aiding young Tauren with their rites.

  • Ma'arul did not meet Thrall but Stormhorn did. I added this as I thought it was important for the history of the tribe and how they blended in.
