Appearance

Kiraia usually garbs herself in worn, hand-me-down armor from her parents that has, over time, gotten a reddish tint to it from rust, dust collection and the general environment of Outland. When not armored, she prefers loose fitting clothing, and things that allow her general ease of motion.

Personality

Kiraia is, in a single word, honest. She views betrayal as one of the worst things in the world, be it betrayal of trust, or betrayal of comradeship, or even betrayal of romance, and thus puts a lot of stock in loyalty. She'll trust anyone, unless given a reason to mistrust, and openly states this fact. She's loose with her coin (when she has it) and with her words, willing to strike up some conversation (although in some cases, very awkward conversation) with nearly anyone.

She views hardship as something to overcome, and is generally willing to lend her aid to anyone she can. The term “not our fight” does not particularly compute with her mindset, seeing it as her duty as a Paladin to aid anyone, wherever they may be and whoever they are. Even towards the Horde, she'll never leave someone to die if it can be helped, and on principle doesn't attempt to kill outright.

While not the sort to seem violent, though, she's got a bit of a vicious streak when it comes to Orcs, who she believes (and was raised to believe) are evil, bloodthirsty monsters. She's also rather distrustful of Kal'dorei, and holds more than a small grudge against Sin'dorei. As for other members of the Horde, she's fully against Trolls and Undead, though she holds no ill will toward Tauren, who are the only members of her opposing faction she'll even attempt to talk to without pressing need.

History

What sort of life does one live when the world ended before they were ever born? Kiraia Arbormane was destined to wonder that question, being the child of two veterans of the Draenor invasion. The planet was left shattered and a large number of humans displaced, but love can still exist in even the worst of times. Arguably, Kiraia embodies that too.

The dust was still settling as Kiraia was born in the Allerian Stronghold, among numerous other Alliance refugees. She grew up to an alien sky, going from infant to teenager with every belief she would die on her floating rock. Still, some amount of normalcy was found in that time. Kiraia learned her letters (with a reasonable amount of aptitude) and moved onto basic maths and the like. For all her general aptitude for the intellectual, it was presumed she would go on to become a mage.

At thirteen, Kiraia practically begged her father to allow her to squire under him. She sought to become a Paladin, just as her parents before her and just as the Draenei she'd heard stories of on this dead rock. Kiraia got her wish, and began immediately.

Her training was not easy, nor was it conventional. Outland was still a dangerous place, and so she went on numerous supply runs with her father, training on the road and testing her mettle with various trials by fire. She saw the Draenei for the first time, and the Orcs, and all manner of Outland's various inhabitants. She also, through what some might call luck and others would call destiny, met Altiar.

The gryphon would wait some more time before meeting Kiraia. It was during her second year of squireship that she and her father found the battered cart. The dwarves around it were slain, and most of the usable goods had already been taken. Still, the young Paladin-to-be managed to find a surviving gryphon egg, protected with a Wildhammer's final sacrifice.

The intention was to return the egg to the Wildhammer stronghold. They were two days into that journey when the egg hatched and the inhabitant imprinted on Kiraia. They still continued the journey, and on arrival Kiraia instead learned to tend for the new gryphon hatchling. (Given a shortage of riders at the time versus a sizable gryphon population, little issue was made of this.) She compounded her studies, raising Altair and honing her skills with the Light for the next two years.

And then she was suddenly free. All at once, the training stopped and life began. Kiraia began her own tale, a wandering Paladin atop a gryphon, on the slowly decaying remnant of a world.

The Dark Portal opened and Kiraia opted to stay in Outland. The world was dying, to be sure, and her skills could likely be used back on Azeroth, but something kept her. Perhaps, in time, she would go and see the place her parents called home.
