Personality

Khazrog is a rather sarcastic soul, given to being somewhat bitter thanks to the hatred his clan has garnered him amongst his people. Despite this, he is loyal to his race, although he is more loyal to the memory of the Laughing Skulls than to to the Horde, or even the Orcs in general. Khazrog thinks of lying and cheating as another might think of honor and dueling, holding them very highly when they're well done. While he can be angered by another lying to him, at the same time he can be impressed by the lie as long as it has purpose and is well done.

Khazrog is excellent at suppressing his temper, his anger only showing through when in particularly stressful situations or when very drunk. In combat, Khazrog does not utter the warcrys of his people, instead staying silent aside from the occasional unintended utterance. The orc, despite his lying ways, is actually a very loyal friend. While he may never be completely honest with those close to him, he will never intentionally hurt or betray those who have earned his trust, difficult thought it may be.

History

Khazrog's mother was already pregnant when she and her mate escaped the slaughter committed by Danath Trollbane. However, instead of rejoining their clan in Outland, the two joined the majority of the Orcish Horde, meeting up with relatives from the Blackrock Clan. When the Orcs were thrown down and enslaved, the commander of the encampment the two were to enter happened to notice Ashbrand on Khazrog's father before he could hide it, taking the blade and shaming the family. This shame was what Khazrog was born into. From the moment he was born, Khazrog was told of the shame that his family, his clan and his people had been forced to endure. This shame wasn't due to the humans, however, but was caused by the lack of Orcish cunning. Khazrog wondered if he shouldn't be ashamed of his people, in that case. He was informed that yes, he should feel ashamed of them. However, he should not let this beat him down, as it had so many others. Instead, he should work to overcome the shackles that had been placed upon his people, to remove their shame.

Khazrog was taught other things as well. While his parents fed him when he was particularly young, as he grew his parents began to steal his food. This was not done out of cruelty or greed, as one might think. Instead, it was done to teach young Khazrog how to steal. He learned to steal through necessity, as he would starve if he failed for too long a period. While early on he was often caught, as he grew he began to gain more and more food. Despite having more food than many of the orcs in the encampment, Khazrog grew up small, which did little to help him when word finally got around that the Laughing Skull clan had betrayed the Orcs in order to gain a large amount of Draenor. This was the third lesson the camps taught him, how to fight. While many of the adults of the camps were to lethargic to really care about the betrayal of the clan, the youth often brought their complaints to Khazrog. Khazrog had from birth had fierce loyalty to his clan drilled into him, and there was no way to remove his clans shame in the camps other than to fight back. Khazrog continued to learn of his clan's past, to steal and to fight until the Orc's were liberated. Both of Khazrog's parents died in the liberation of his camp, and he thanked the two for the gifts they had given him before promising to reclaim Ashbrand and restore honor, or the Laughing Skull equivalent, back to his clan.

He moved with the Horde as they went to Orgrimmar, assisting in the building of the city. This time, however, he claimed that he was from the Blackrock clan, decided that the time wasn't right for him to begin to regain his clan's honor. While he lived with his people he began to learn how to fight with a single dagger, in preparation for the day where he would reclaim Ashbrand. Khazrog was too young to participate in the Third War, but he did do something during this time. He, over the period of a few years, tracked down the Commander who had taken Ashbrand, eventually finding that he had retired to a small farm in Westfall, keeping Ashbrand along with several other momentos from his time leading a Camp. Khazrog traveled there and, while the man slept, reclaimed Ashbrand. There he reclaimed his honor, killing the man while he slept with the knife he had reclaimed.

At 17 years old, he had reclaimed his familial honor, and his people had raised themselves back up. All that remained was his clan's honor. But first, Khazrog decided, he needed to learn more, both of his people and others. At a very young age, Khazrog began to travel the world, learning everything he could of those who inhabited it. While he was unable to enter certain locations, due to his race, he found those who inhabited those places in the neutral ports of the World. He survived, working as a thief and, occasionally, as a blade for hire. This was Khazrog's life until the threat of the Lich King reared its head. It was then that Khazrog decided the time was right to rejoin his people and regain his clan's honor. Fighting for the Horde against the Undead menace, he attempted to show that there was at least one of the Laughing Skull clan who was worthy, in his own way. He has continued this struggle to this very day.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ashbrand: A knife that gives the Ashsong line their name, passed down from father to son. Ashbrand is an enchanted knife that has the ability to turn things it slices directly into to ash. This ash disintegrates upon entering the bloodstream, but also keeps the wound it deals from being healed by non-magical methods.
  • Streetfighter: Khazrog learned to fight the hard way. He can fight well with a knife, but must remain agile instead of relying on brute strength, due to his smaller size. While he's also a decent brawler, Khazrog has little to no ability in any other weapons.
  • Amongst Shadows: Khazrog, on his travels, happened to befriend a rather potent shadow priest. While the orc didn't have much talent for the priest's lessons, he did learn enough to figure out how to both hide himself in shadows and move himself through them.
