Other: Her house's name is relative to its trade. House Silverberg owns and regulates the caravans of goods from several silver mines in the northern mountains of Stormwind. While the mines are focused primarily on silver, the rich mountains of Stormwind have offered many other metals , though in lower quantities, and so have made House Silverberg a somewhat well-known metallurgy trader. The silver mined in the Silverberg mines is taken by caravan to Stormwind City, where it is, for a price of trade, sent to the coin-minters of the Crown of Stormwind, where the silver is made into Stormwind's minted silver coins. Naturally, she does not dominate this trade, but she does have a good hand in it. She keeps other metals and gems recovered in the mines in a warehouse, where she does business with those to other houses, or to tradesmen that she encounters. House Silverberg's other chief export from their northern mountain works is the timber provided from the tough northern pines and spruces, most of which is used for tools for the Silverberg mines, but some of which occasionally finds its way to lumber yards in Stormwind. Minor exports of her house's include fruits and grains from the two small farms and small orchard she presides over, as well as wool from sheep on one of the two farms.

Personality

Katrana is a very caring, outward noblewoman. She enjoys meeting people and partaking in small talk, and does not truly mind conversing with commoners, though some may mind conversing with her. She almost always has a gentle smile on her lips, and does her best to encourage those she meets. She is also very clever in that she knows how the world works. She is a single noblewoman, meaning that many may try to marry her simply for her House's legacy. So she has adopted a very clever and dangerous persona amongst the House of Nobles. Though she is kind, caring, sincere, and warm at the face, she can be very dangerous if she feels that she, her house, or her close friends are being theatened.

She has a specific view on each of the Horde races herself, though she will never do trade business with them. She considers orcs to be the savages they are, and despises them for the original destruction of her homeland. She considers trolls to be just as much, if not more, of a savage race, for all the tales of cannibals and ambushing random travellers. The undead she absolutely abhors, seeing them as abominations. However, knowing how some forsaken react to such insults, she is wise enough to hold her tongue. She does not care for goblins much, as she sees them as simple peddlers who are trying for a 'fair trade'. The two races of the Horde she does not mind much are the Tauren and the Blood Elves. She respects the Tauren for the tales of their bravery and their sincerity to protecting their beliefs, and she believes that the Blood Elves are simply misplaced from the Alliance, and finds interaction with the Sin'dorei to be rather intriguing.

On other races of the Alliance, her judgement goes by a case-by-case basis. She knows the other races have their different personalities, and so she allows them some leeway when it comes to such matters as judging a person. She highly respects the Draenei for their accomplishments, though, above all others.

History

Katrana was born just after the First War to Lord Leon and Lady Lillian Silverberg, a knight and noblewoman of Stormwind. When Katrana was barely a month old, her mother passed away from an unknown disease. Her father was following an evacuation party to Lordaeron with a very young Katrana, and her barely three and five year old brothers, along for the ride. They found life with another noble family, the Richwoods, in the heart of Lordaeron City, where they remained throughout the course of the Second War. Her initial childhood was accompanied by friends she made in the Richwood Manor, while she did not receive much of an education, being only five years old then.

When Stormwind was reclaimed, Lord Leon took his daughter and sons to New Stormwind, where he and what independent masons he could hire rebuilt Silverberg Manor for them. During her early childhood and teen years, Katrana received multitudes of education, all of which she soaked in like a sponge. Her usual lessons included all the things she needed to know to be a noblewoman, such as history, culture, and economics, while on the side her father allowed her to train with practice swords with her brothers, Johnathan and Deklin. This began to give her a very independent view of things, as she was beginning to shape into a noblewoman far different than other typical female nobles.

Due to her father's unique outlook on the complicated political systems of Stormwind, he did not dare try to marry Katrana off to any male nobles unless she was willing. He considered the practice not noble, and simply cruel to force nobles into marriage. He allowed Katrana to more or less do what she liked, and her life was good until she was nineteen. During a family feast, where her uncles and cousins were all in attendance, she got into an argument with her brother which ended with her father suggesting she take one of her night walks to calm down.

She did so, and walked down her usual route through Old Town when she was assaulted by three well-armed thugs. Before they could do anymore damage than knock her to the street and silence her first scream, a local night patroller came to her aid, and fought with the three thugs. The fight that ensued left two of the thugs dead, and the third bleeding as he fled. The patroller, however, took his own injuries, and would not survive the night. He urged Katrana to get home, and then call the guard. She was stunned for a moment before agreeing, this being her first time ever actually seeing someone bleed or fight with real weapons.

Katrana rushed home to a gruesome scene. The manor's front grounds were littered with the bodies of slain servants, some of which put up a fight, giving to the few thugs that were also dead. She hurried into the feast hall of the manor to find everyone she knew butchered by these thugs, who seemed now to be far more than just thugs. Those remaining thugs in the feast hall, all two of them, were quickly dispatched when the cooking staff of the manor, followed by the manor's butler David, came out with cleavers and braved the thug's weapons to kill them and protect Katrana.

David ordered those servants still alive to quickly sweep the house for anymore of the thugs while he saw to his new Lady, with Leon dead. Katrana was in tears, cradling her still slightly alive father in her grasp as she sat on the floor. Her father tried to comfort her with words, telling her the typical things a father would say to his daughter on his deathbed. His last words, 'Remember the house, and remember me. Keep the legacy strong.' are now a motto she lives by. She was horrified by the death of all she knew, but was helped by David, as well as the two house guards that were still alive, Albert and Charles.

Knowing that she was now the last legitimate heir to House Silverberg, her first act as the new Lady of House Silverberg was to demand answers for the murder of her family. She hired a local independent 'Private Eye' organization, led by a man named Scylorin, to look into the matter. After they were sent off in their investigation, she began managing her family's estates and economics just as she had been taught. David, her butler, managed the hiring of new servants as well as new house guards, and Katrana saw to it that both Charles and Albert were promoted to the guard captains of Silverberg Manor's guards, giving them the honorary positions of Silverguards, her personal guard.

For the first two years, House Silverberg saw very rocky waves as Katrana struggled to run an entire noble house and business by herself. Eventually, however, she began to find the hang of it. When she did, she also received news that Scylorin had found a lead. The slaughter of her family had been caused by an amateur band of assassins hired by a noble family in Lordaeron, House Dunar, which had supposedly felt heavily disgraced after Lord Leon won a tournament in Stratholme. So disgraced that when the leader of the house grew old and pitiless decided to send such an attack on House Silverberg. Katrana called for justice on the house, but Scylorin's next information leak was just as valuable: the entire Dunar family had been hosting a feast in Stratholme when it was culled, which was why Katrana never saw a second attack towards her after the night her family was killed.

For the next eight years, Katrana led House Silverberg into prosperous times, making business dealings with multiple noble houses and rising in renown as one of the crown's reliable silver mining businesses. She began expanding outside of simply mining silver, instructing her workers in the mountains to begin making use of the ancient and durable mountain trees, as well as purchasing the deeds to two small farms and an orchard. While becoming a wanton romantic, she has yet to find any men that suit both her personal desires and her agenda as the last of her house, to keep the legacy of House Silverberg strong. With the recent wars, she has shown heavy support for the campaigns, and does not shun away from pure pride for the Alliance.
