Appearance

Kalen is always wearing the armor of The Alliance Volunteer Army, which is made up of Imperial plate. He keeps the armor well cared for, and shiny.

Kalen's usual weapon is a large, two-handed broadsword slung on his back.

Personality

Alignment: Lawful good.

Kalen is extremely loyal and humane. He will not hesitate to do things that could get him punished if it meant doing the right thing. He is understanding and friendly, often greeting strangers with warmth. If Kalen does not think something is right, he will speak out against it. Kalen is also quick with the tongue, if someone is slandering him or his comrades, he will usually end up fighting the person. Kalen doesn't like to act like he's better than anyone, and always shows compassion and sympathy to those less fortunate. He will generally distrust any shady characters or Orcs, but he hates bandits most of all, as they killed his parents.

History

Kalen was born in Goldshire, his parents were middle class and made enough to get by. When Kalen turned 10 his parents were going to take him to Stormwind to see all the big buildings that he never had a chance to marvel at before. However, on their way to Stormwind, bandits came out of the trees and demanded all his parents belongings, when his dad tried to strike the bandit, another one stabbed him in the heart, his mom starting screaming, and so as to not attract guards the bandits stabbed her too. Kalen, was standing there unable to move, mortified and shocked. The bandits grabbed what they could and ran back into the forest, going to their hideout. Kalen was found passed out a day later, and after recounting the story with a trembling body, instead of sending him to the orphanage, the guards sent him to work as a farm hand in one of the outlying farms of Goldshire.

Kalen worked for the farm, and although the farmers gave him all the things he would need to live, they showed no real compassion, and were by no means a substitute for his parents. However, during this time is when Kalen first picked up a sword, which the farmer gave to him telling him to keep the rabbits away from the crops. Even though the sword was rusty and old, Kalen cherished it and practiced every day when he wasn't working. Kalen got slowly better, and at age 21, Kalen decided he needed to do something more than farming. Kalen, having saved up the small pay he got from working as a farm hand, bought a real sword, and travelled the world.

Kalen went to places that were usually to dangerous for him, coming extremely close to death multiple times. However, by traveling a lot he gained knowledge, and understanding of the different viewpoints different places in the world had. He saw rich people, poor people, and lots of other races. Thus how he gained compassion and understanding. After getting dangerously low on his money supply, Kalen returned to Goldshire.

To make money, Kalen started doing odd jobs, like taking messages to and from people, and hunting animals. However, Kalen grew bored of this quickly, and longed for excitement and something to make his life worthwhile. One day seeing a poster for the Alliance Volunteer Army he was interested. That same week, a man win the company of another man wearing the same thing entered the Goldshire Inn. They were wearing a big set of armor and a tabard with the same symbol he saw on the Alliance Volunteer Army's poster. He saw the man and his comrade walk over to a nice lady at the bar he talked to a few moments earlier and start questioning her. She then proceeded to storm out, feeling overwhelmed, and unwelcome. Kalen looking at this unfairness proceeded to chastise the man on how mean he acted to a visitor of Goldshire. The man truly sorry and understanding of Kalen's accusation, introduced himself as Deraef. Kalen wished him a good day and the man and his comrade left. Although Kalen didn't know it at the time, Deraef was to become his comrade and close friend.

Kalen went to Stormwind hearing that the Alliance Volunteer Army head quarters was located there. By chance he stumbled inside, and met Aarn, a Sergeant Major, who he talked with about joining. The next day he went to the General's office and signed in as Private Kemp. He is currently in the Alliance Volunteer Army, serving with pride, finally having a sense of duty and excitement.
