Personality

Jolene grew up with the full impact of parental attention, being taught manners to an extent. Though full of kindhearted intentions, she has that shadow of naivety looming over her - that assumption that everyone should treat others the way they want to be treated - a law that she'd inscribed into her mind. She shows little interest in athletics, but excells in absorbing knowledge - often making her studies prolonged and thorough. These studies lead to a yearning for social contact, taking her out into the Trade District's busy streets where she can satiate this need.

History

Second born in the Morrison family, Jolene grew up in Old Town, Stormwind, raised by a bar-tending father and a housewife for a mother. Like most younger siblings, she received the majority (if not all) of the love and attention her parents had to offer - leaving Jethro (older brother) glowering at the backs of their parents. This selective attention, however, would not change and Jolene would be sent to the church for the schooling her brother had never received.

All though Jethro lacked a close bond with his parents - he and his sister did not. He would take the time to awake Jolene and walk her to school, then be waiting outside for her when the flood of children rushed out to go home. The two would often make a stop at the park, where Jolene would give him school-taught fun-facts and Jethro would tell her of his day in the city. It would later become apparent to Jolene that her brother was miserable with the way their parents were treating him, and that he was planning on leaving the household. Her brother would in fact leave the household at the age of fifteen, but he would not leave Jolene completely. Sneaking food out behind their parent's backs for her brother while he spent the majority of his time around the market with his new-found girlfriend became a short-lived habit. Seeing her brother less and less, Jolene began to assume the worst of his behavior.

At the age of thirteen, Jolene was pulled out of school to help her family with the ever-growing money concerns. Her father, not wanting to fall into debt, sent his daughter out to find a job (since Jethro was MIA). It would be the city's library where Jolene would seek out a part-time job - her past schooling leaving her with a thirst for knowledge. Shelving and organizing books became a well known task: and when she had the time, she would stop to read one of the many scrolls or tomes that came into possession.

With the absence of her brother, Jolene indulged her time in the library. As new books and scrolls alike were brought in, she would have the pleasure of being the first to sort through which ones were presentable enough to go onto the shelves, and which ones were not. It would be through the sorting that she would get her hands on...different...books. Unlike any of the alphabetical letters and symbols she was taught during her schooling, the ones that were inscribed in these old, tattered books piqued her attention most. Translating was unthinkable, but the pictures were so vivid, so informative, that she was able to pick up on their meanings. Years of this new secret study would eventually take a more physical path: she would put together her own ritual circles and make attempts at mimicking the illustrations. This prolonged study would eventually pay off, and from the ever-improving ritual she would summon a demon from the Nether. A voidwalker.

This fascination would lead to years of further study: taking it upon herself to learn more about the Twisting Nether and the powerful demons which resided within it. She was aware that speaking out of her studies could result in dire consequences, so she kept it discrete and isolated. What she wasn't aware of, though, was the chaos and corruption she was about to indulge in. Using this unwavering, silently loyal companion to aid her along the way to her goal – Jolene would send this shadow-lurking companion out with the specific command to watch over her brother, unnoticed. Pinpointing his location with each letter he sent her way was easy enough, but eventually those letters would stop, and so too would that sense of protection she knew her brother once had.
