Personality

Thanks to years of training in the ways of etiquette and the ways of a nobleman, Jocque is rather difficult to read for even a trained eye. While he often puts on the facade of a peppy, fun-loving man who takes everything as a joke, he is deep down a man whom is petty and selfish, taking pleasure in besting his enemies and despising the weak. His partnerships are exclusive to those whom he feels can help him further his own agendas. He lives only to see himself return to a position suiting his gentle birth, as he misses the life of political intrigue and toying with the minds of others. Overall, Jocque is a dark-minded individual whom could be called evil when in reality, he doesn't live to see evil come to others, but to see good things happen to himself.

History

Jocque Daelin Seastrike was born in the nation of Kul'tiras only two years before the opening of the Dark Portal, to the noble family of patron Demoreo Seastrike. From an early age, seeing that Jocque was the first born of young Demoreo, whom became patron of the family after his father was killed during a raid on a pirate hideout, the son was groomed to become the next head of House Seastrike. Jocque learned everything about being a proper gentleman, from table manners, to proper courting etiquette, to dancing, but most of all his favorite, sword fighting. Jocque took a natural liking to this, and trained extensively in the way of the blade. His love of combat made his parents rethink his life, and it was decided that he would be groomed to become an officer in the navy as well, one of the most prestigious positions one could hold in the nation. Jocque was coming along quite nicely as a gentleman.

Jocque was sent to apprentice to a ship captain by the name of Captain Yorlen, whom ruled over his domain, The Green Trident, when he turned fourteen. While there, Jocque was to learn the intricacies of command and how to be an officer aboard a sea vessel. Jocque, being a bright young man, was able to pick up the nuances of the craft and was even able to perform decently well when it came to menial labor. When he was fifteen, the Green Trident was ordered to investigate a cove. There, they were ambushed by pirates, most of the crew being slain. When asked, Jocque gave his name, and one of the pirates recognized him as a Seastrike. They held him ransom instead of executing him. One of the pirates, a warlock, had a rather twisted desire to "procreate" in the sense that he wanted to make more warlocks. He saw potential in the young noble boy, and decided to make him his protege.

The Seastrike family had believed Jocque dead, and denied any demands for ransom. Unsure of what to do, they kept him as a a punching bag, getting drunk and taking their frustrations out on him. When he was sixteen, the warlock approached Jocque, offering him relief from his responsibilities as a broken boy if he was willing to learn. Jocque eagerly agreed, willing to do nearly anything to stop the pain. Jocque secretly learned under the warlock for months, taking a special interest in the art of disenchanting magical artifacts and destruction magic. Finally, one day, he was able to summon an imp. Deciding that his training was complete, the warlock announced to the crew what he had done to Jocque, and that he would now be a loyal member of the crew. Thanks to the warlock's pull with the captain, the grizzled pirate veteran agreed, but wanted him watched, just in case. It was because of this that Jocque had no opportunity to escape.

Meanwhile, the Seastrike House was quietly rallying allied houses to avenge the death of their son. Houses such as the Jadewater House and the Yumur House flocked to their cause, willing to find and slaughter the pirates that had taken friends of theirs on the Green Trident. They put together a very small fleet of ships, using much of their houses' resources in order to make this a reality.

When Jocque was eighteen, he finally gained the trust of his crewmates. Through years of service, he was allowed to roam freely on the ship. He finally had the opportunity to escape. Fel magic and years of beatings had hardened him, though. He didn't want to leave yet. He wanted revenge. So, he hatched a plan. He would murder the Captain and blame the first mate, and while he was at it, murder his master, so that none would be more powerful than him, and thus be able to lay claim to the title of Captain without much rebellion from the rest of the crew. He pulled his scheme off, with cunning and without remorse, and the crew fell into chaos. He changed his plan at the last second, however. He publicly murdered the warlock, claiming that he had done the deed of slaying their beloved captain and framing the first mate. He did this simply because it would confuse everyone even more, give proof that he had power, and lastly, because he found it amusing. With only a couple dissenters thrown overboard, Jocque took the title of pirate captain.

Jocque sailed for two more years, and at the age of twenty, his ship was found. The small fleet of four ships, each one a dedicated military ship paid off by the small alliance the Seastrike House had started, were able to blockade the ship in their no-longer-hidden cove. Jocque immediately hatched another daring plan, placing his captain's gear on his first mate and telling him that he had to act the role while he did some of his own acting. He didn't exactly lie, either. When they were boarded, Jocque ran to the boarding party, exclaiming that he was Jocque Seastrike, who had been kidnapped years ago. He fit the rough description of what an older Jocque would look like, and was taken aboard the boat paid off by the Seastrike House. When asked who the men were, he told them they were evil pirates who had beaten and abused him for years. He ordered them put to the sword, and their ship burned. The men did just that, as that had been their original intention anyways. None of the pirates survived.

Jocque was taken back to his home, where he reunited with his family in an almost heart-warming reunion. Jocque had changed since he'd been kidnapped. He felt cold and empty, and where love should have been he felt simply nothing. He played the part well enough, however, and resumed his role as a nobleman in almost no time, but practicing his dark arts behind closed doors. He stopped practicing his fencing as much as he used to, and instead focused more on the powers of shadow. He stayed away from demons and the like, preferring to enhance his own power rather than bargain and enslave another being that wanted him dead. He had no desire to end up like his former crew, slain by the slave. Jocque was able to keep up his facade for three years, until his mother discovered him summoning his imp, the first and only demon he dared work with.

Jocque slew her and fled, assuming the identity of Taric Snowwater and fleeing to the Eastern Kingdoms. Once there, he began his life as a traveler, looking for a way to regain his good name and take over the Seastrike House as it's patron, as he thinks he rightfully belongs as. As for the wars, he abstained from them, not caring about any cause but his own.
