Personality

Janice is incredibly blunt. She'll not hesitate to speak her mind, even if what's on her mind is insulting or insensitive, which it often is. Often being overly flirtatious, irreverent or downright rude, she has the bad habit of alienating those around her with her words and actions. However, these are hardly the personality quirks of a harmless individual. Janice does not mind getting her hands dirty, and she'll either react to the suffering of others with sadistic glee or cold malice, depending on who it is she happens to be disposing of.

She is a fanatical follower of the Banshee Queen, often acting vindictive when others dare to insult her. She's also completely obsessed with alchemy, her chosen profession, and will often recount alchemical formulas to herself while idle.

Alignment: Lawful evil

History

Janice Grier was destined to become a mage. Being the daughter of two Kirin Tor sorcerers made this an obvious conclusion. Since she learned to walk, her parents had instilled within her their vast wealth of magical and alchemical knowledge. As she grew up, there was not one moment in which her nose was not in a book, and any moment not spent reading and studying was spent in practice and experimentation. In particular, she favored alchemy, and was able to create many basic potions by the time she turned ten years old. By the time she came of age, her alchemical knowledge was incredibly vast.

Unfortunately, despite being so gifted, on the social front she was not so fortunate. Having spent much of her life in the sheltering confines of her parent's library, her ability to connect with other people was sadly limited. In social settings, she appeared nervous, overly blunt, and showed a lack of understanding of the concept of personal space. This won her no friends, and caused her to feel outcast and alone throughout much of her life.

Time passed, and the First and Second Wars transpired. Janice, afraid that the Horde might assault Dalaran, left her home and her parents behind and fled to the capital city of Lordaeron. There, she contributed to the war effort the only way she knew how; using her skills in alchemy to create healing salves and potions to donate to the Alliance's troops. Despite living in a time of war, Janice decided that she rather liked Lordaeron, and chose to remain there even after the Horde was defeated.

Years later, while on a trip across the countryside in search of rare herbs, Janice contracted the Plague of Undeath. After several days of horrific illness, she died and was soon after raised as a mindless servant of the Lich King. Later, under the command of the Death Knight, Arthas, she would aid in the assault of her own home city of Dalaran.

Several months later, as the Lich King's control over his minions began to wane, Janice found that her mind had returned. And, fortunately, her alchemical knowledge with it. Hopelessly lost and alone, she saw no other alternative than to join the Banshee Queen, Sylvanas, as she reclaimed the ruins of Lordaeron. Once the dust had settled and the newly-formed Forsaken had begun to settle with it, Janice found an opportunity to put her skills to good use. The Royal Apothecary Society was formed, and she was quick to join it. At first, she attempted to find a way to cure her undeath. However, as the months went by, she soon found that she no longer cared to return to the world of the living. She had found that in undeath, her anti-social behavior no longer put anyone off. Her peers at the Apothecarium respected her for her knowledge and did not seem to care about her mannerisms. At the same time, due in part to the propaganda spread by the Banshee Queen as well as the cynicism and apathy that undeath brings, Janice began to look upon humanity with revulsion. Clearly, undeath was the next step for humanity, and she began to put all of her efforts into making this new, perfect, dead world a reality. This new revelation, as well as her devotion to the cause of the Forsaken, gave her inner strength and confidence, leading her to believe that through undeath, she was now 'complete'.

During the Scourge war, Janice traveled north with the Hand of Vengeance. She worked tirelessly to assist the other Apothecaries in the creation of the Blight, wanting nothing more than to see it in action against the Scourge. Be careful what you wish for, as they say. Despite not being involved with Putress and his turncoats, Janice and her fellow Apothecaries were viewed with more distrust and hatred than ever before. No longer willing to put up with it, she returned to the Undercity to pursue her own research, only to find that the Apothecarium was now grossly understaffed and over-regulated. This caused her to grow more and more resentful of the living every passing day.

These days, Janice mostly sticks to her own projects. She finds herself venturing out to the far corners of the world more frequently, mostly in search of rare reagents. She has attempted to assist the allies of the Forsaken in the wake of the Cataclysm, yet most people still regard the Apothecaries with mistrust and hatred. Still, she carries on, waiting for the day that the world will finally accept it's inevitable dark rebirth.
