Personality

Jake seems like an outspoken, verbally violent sly lowlife. Which he is. While capable of perceiving more subtle nuances and complex matters, he often chooses not to. This is because he believes in a moderately hedonistic approach to life which bars bothering with endeavors and thoughts unlikely to make his life better before they make it worse. In other words, Jake, as a rule, is a pretty lazy guy.

His bursts of energy and determination show when faced with a new problem, opportunity, opponent or challenge. As he easily loses interest, he's unlikely to be found spending any amount of time around anyone living life in anything but the fast lane. A smart street hound deep down, Jake understands that a proper balance of submitting and imposing one's self is necessary to survive. With an aggressive sense of humor and an air of honest playful flirty-ness, Jake's ego does get him into trouble more than work or maintaining status would require him to.

An introvert living in an environment of high required extraversion, he'll often wear social masks for long periods of time, going into the isolation of secluded places like woods (or the odd library in noble disguise) for hours a week. Quick to trust those he feels 'of his world', Jake is still unable to feel any deep emotional connection to another without either distancing himself from the relationship or sabotaging it.

History

While he doesn't know it, Jake was born in a small human encampment on the edge of Stranglethorn Vale, his mother dying soon after his birth. As soon as Grand Hamlet was rebuilt, Jake's father – a rather young man of the militia and future military, took to the rebuilt town in southern Elwynn along with his son. Having ideals of his son becoming some sort of craftsman or intellectual, Jake's father was often disappointed by the boy - as the lack of time to spend with his son often ended up resulting in Jake holding the company of the less „desirable” peers of his age and contesting his authority early on. With no kin in Grand Hamlet nor elsewhere that the boy knew of, Jake's father never returned from the third war around Jake's age of thirteen.

Soon after all of the resources left by his father wore out, no more than a year later, Jake was left to assume a mature way of life and self-sustenance early on. From stealing to hunting to the oddest of odd jobs, Jake eventually became a person of reference for Darkshire's shadier businesses, earning himself the nickname of `Daredevil` due to his minimal concern for his own safety during any endeavor that involved risk.

To sharpen his emerging trade and profile, Jake spent most of the years since the age of nineteen running jobs in between Stormwind and Darkshire. This got him into countless fights and almost a year spent in total in the stockades and various lock-ups throughout this time. Another ability he managed to pick up alongside fast-talking, brawling and knife-work was an ability he held a good talent for - impersonating. He would often work schemes in Stormwind that involved his posing as a wealthy noble, the persona of `Lord James` emerging.
