Personality

'Pain is weakness leaving the body'. If there was ever a quote for Ishura, it was this. Bordering masochistic, Ishura has no fear of physical suffering. Each claw slicing through flesh, each hammer blow shattering bone, each second of acidic or poisonous compounds searing through flesh and blood, was just another way of getting closer to enlightenment.

Ishura is a living testament to pain endurance at it's finest. He maintains a near stoic appearance that only grows more devoid of emotion with each passing second he endures pain in some bodily way - though everyone has a hard limit. Even him.

Ishura seeks out pain in order to further heighten his mental and physical endurance to pain in all of it's forms. The chemical 'high' that accompanies such intense pain is merely a useless side-effect to him, and oddly not the reason he endures these things.

He seeks ever increasing tolerance to pain, and in the long run, to experience a bodily pain so exquisite and overpowering it brings him closer to the heavens, if not flat out off the plane of existence. Though these masochistic tendencies may seem like submissive actions, Ishura is anything but. He's no pushover.

He is a man of mixed emotions. The void he feels when enduring bodily suffering is the closest he feels he can get to normalcy at times. He believes fiercely in Elune, but he is forced to wonder if his self abuse is something she would frown upon, resulting in frequent spiritual conflict for him. His self destructive behaviors result in significant social isolation at other times. He does have the capacity for good of course, and is always careful to make sure no one follows in his footsteps. While he may seek out pain, he does not wish it onto innocents, and is happy to try and rid others of it.

History

He didn't actually have anything of significant horror occur to him that made him into such a pain junkie. He completely and utterly failed to become a druid. While he did have some knack for spells revolving around the healing of injuries and what not, it just wasn't something he was competent in altogether.

He trained for as long as he was required to and to this day has a fondness for druids, making him more than willing to listen to them or assist them with tasks, but ultimately, never became one himself. He did maintain close ties with various Priestesses he knew and when the opportunity presented itself, much later in life of course, he trained to become one of the few male priests now presuming that role thanks to a change in gender roles.

His mother was a Sentinel and his father, a Druid. As a result, he held them in high esteem and showed each great respect. Family life was nice, when it was around. But the active lives each parent pursued often resulted in Ishura spending more of his time in solitude. In the modern day, Ishura does not actively seek them out. No doubt each parent is on with their own important tasks, and they will all be available to gather around and do 'family things' when time permits them to.

He was born in Winterspring and spent most of his life there up until recently. The chill and stinging wind was a constant companion. He would don the thinnest of clothing and meditate outside for brief periods at a time, as long as he could endure the temperature. It was never very long, but slowly over the years, he did grow more and more tolerate of the bitter cold, and eventually was able to concentrate fairly well even when under physical distress.

Ishura was never outward with his beliefs and 'tests of faith'. He considered it a personal thing. Pain, when handled properly, brings him closer to a state free of ignorance, desire, and suffering. He does not express these views with others. While his views and methods would no doubt be shunned by others, it works for him.

In light of recent events, his usual 'daily patterns' have changed. He finds himself less actively seeking harm and spends more time meditating. He uses his leisure time to think on and watch the comings and goings of the younger races. He continues to debate new ways of seeking enlightenment - after all, hundreds of years of physical abuse has only gotten him so far. While he's certainly not pleased with having to face his mortality, he is interested in seeing what this drastic change will bring for himself.
