Personality

Howard Grey is a nice man who usually likes being around other people even though books have been his only friends for many years. He cares for three things in life: Knowledge (to make the world a better place for everyone), Power (to defend it) and Compassion (to motivate people to do good). Howard always does his best to help whoever asks for his help but he is not naive. It is said that only the wise and those fully understanding compassion may identify who is truly in need and Howard Grey is surely one of them.

History

Howard Grey was born in a small town south of Stratholme. He spent his early life playing with his two brothers or thumbing trough old books even though he could barely read. At the age of fifteen Howard moved to Stratholme to continue his education. He also joined a monastery soon after, spending twenty-five years studying the philosophy of the Holy Light and training his healing powers.

Following the death of his father, Howard returned to his hometown to become a priest. He lived happily for eighteen more years as the spiritual leader of the small community also becoming well-known for his healing capabilities.

One day a deadly plague struck the town though, half of the population dying in the first four days and Howard was powerless to stop it. In the fourth night, Howard decided to take a walk trough the forest thinking of a cure and praying for the dead. He had been walking for three hours when he saw the light of a torch held by an undead warrior. In that moment he realized what was happening and ran back to the town as fast as he could.

After waking everybody up, Howard told them to get out of the town trough the south gate and run to the closest village, but it was too late. The undead have already reached the northern gate and started hitting it. Howard decided it was the time to use all his knowledge and power to save everyone. His intention was to rise a shield of holy light to cover the main gate. For this task he called forward all priests, monks or paladins most of which were mere travelers who were in town to spend the night at the inn. They all helped Howard to cast and maintain the shield until everyone else could safely leave the town. At that point, Howard ordered the clerics who came to his aid to break the casting and run starting with the least powerful. As they started to leave, Howard had to put more effort himself in maintaining the shield so when the last man fled, he fell to the ground exhausted and barely breathing. Minutes later the undead brought down the gate but when their commander entered the town there was no human left but the corpses of those killed by the plague, so he ordered some of them to be taken away and left.

Hours later, Howard regained consciousness and ran to Stratholme as fast as he could. Soon after, he was appointed bishop as recognition of his heroic deeds with only his hometown and the surrounding villages under his authority however. As one of the few men the church could fully trust he was sent to Stormwind right away to bring news to the members of the church there and so he left in a hurry. Two days after his arrival in Stormwind, he received a letter that explained how Stratholme had fallen to the undead just hours after his departure. In that very moment, he swore he would spend the rest of his life defending the world's inhabitants from disease, darkness and suffering.

Currently Howard Grey is working hard as a member of a newly formed organization to cleanse Azeroth of any trace of undeath.
