Personality

Hawke is unstable, mentally and physically. He isn't the “crazy” unstable and he isn't the “Psychotic killer” unstable, he is just...not right in the head. Hawke was once a very intelligent and very nice person, but time changes, people, magic, the whispers, it has greatly unhinged him. While he still retains his love for knowledge, his head is usually full of dark thoughts that keep him awake at night. He is also asexual and views romance and love as pointless, though he is often jealous of those who have it, as he feels he can never experience it himself (though he would always reply that “He doesn't want to”). Hawke also has a strange love of fire and, once angered, is incredibly hard to calm down.

Other: Very socially awkward, twitches every so often and has a fear of crowds.

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral (Tries his best to be True Neutral)

History

Hawke Vandal was born to a mage who was all about the knowledge, the wisdom, and the “piling all the books he has on top of his son so he'll learn faster” technique. Hawke was a quick learner for the most part and shared his father's love for knowledge, though he quickly felt his childhood wasting away, Hawke never played with other children that much, only occasionally, he yearned for a real friend. He found this in himself; Hawke crafted an imaginary friend for himself who would never leave his side, this friends name was Hoxie. As Hawke grew and learnt the way of the mage, Hoxie slowly grew to be more than just an imaginary friend; he became a brother to Hawke, someone that would help Hawke no matter what problems he was having. Hawke's father, who was growing very ill and feared his son would not be ready for the world, became stricter and trained him harder, Hawke saw this as his father “hating him” which only served to hurt the young mage and fill the anger in his heart. Hawke saw himself as a failure to his father and to Hoxie, who at this stage had become a secondary mentor, with Hoxie's “guidance” Hawke began to focus his rage in to “warmth” and thus it was decided, Hawke would be a “Fire Mage”. This rage he was channeling only grew as his father tried to limit Hawke's training, due to Hawke's lust of learning more and more to prove himself as a worthy son (Not to mention Hawke's habit of setting things on fire) growing beyond obsessive.

Eventually, Hawke's father died, at the time Hawke was only nineteen, this was the ultimate breaker, upon seeing the lifeless corpse of his father, Hawke ran in to the forest-like area beside his home and set fire to several trees (and a deer) before collapsing in to tears. When he turned to Hoxie for guidance, Hoxie had vanished, just as his father had. From that day, Hawke was on his own, he began to train himself on what he already knew, which was basically the one school with one or two added spells his father tried to teach him. Hawke, who never fought in any wars, enlisted with a strange warrior he had met while traveling to fight in Northrend. A bad mistake...a very bad mistake. The war in Northrend took its toll on everyone, especially Hawke; the warrior had perished on the first week they had arrived, slaughtered like a dog by large human like men. Hawke had been to several places in Northrend during the war, several times he brushed with death and once he assumed he was dead, eventually he, along with one other mage who had agreed to accompany Hawke after saving said mage from a rather hungry beast that snuck up on him, arrived at Dalaran, the only place Hawke ever felt at home since...well his home.

Hawke of course, wanted to join with the Kirin Tor, but to them he was nothing but the messy looking mage with a love for setting things on fire. Due to the whole Kel'Thuzard betraying ordeal, the Kirin Tor wasn't as trusting as they once were, Hawke made it his goal to prove to them he was worthy, he and the other mage set out to find a magical item they overheard a dwarf talking about in a Dalaran inn, said to be in Dragonblight. Hawke, who was desperate enough already, was willing to risk it all at this point in time to find a place to belong. After two days of searching, they found nothing and figured the dwarf was probably drunk. Before they returned to Dalaran, Hawke suggested they investigate a nearby cave, upon entering the cave however, Hawke saw something he thought he'd never see again, Hoxie. Throwing caution to the wind Hawke followed Hoxie deeper in the cave, where Hoxie began to “whisper” to Hawke. Too late did Hawke figure out he was being seduced by a dark power who was attempting to drive the mage insane, the moment Hawke reached Hoxie, who stood at the end of the empty cave, he felt weak, and fell to his knees. Hoxie said many things to Hawke that day, many dark things, said he was worthless, that his fellow mages laughed at him, that he was nothing if he did not serve. These whispers, these words, would forever be stuck in his mind, not even a moment after the harsh words, Hoxie vanished and Hawke found himself falling flat on his face, out cold, apparently (as the mage then told the others) the last thing Hawke said was “I serve”.

The other mage agreed that there was a “dark presence” in the cave, but seemed to be fine compared to Hawke, it was deemed as a case of insomnia and Hawke was left in a Dalaran inn, the voice stuck in his head, feeling as if he was worshiping something, but having no idea what...or why. With no real purpose in life, Hawke has dedicated most of his life to studying, traveling and trying to piece together what the whispers mean, and how he can find the one who spoke to him.
