Personality

Alignment: Neutral Evil.

Haelen has never seen her fellow humans as anything more than brief annoyances for as long as she can remember. She considers them to be disgusting, vile things that corrupt the natural beauty of the world, staining it with their hysterical and often embarassing actions. To Haelen, life is a messy and disorganized mess - nothing like the beautiful purity of death. She values her own life very little, choosing to stay alive only to spread the "Great Beauty," as she refers to it, as far as she can. As far as interaction with others goes, Haelen cannot be labeled as anything but 'false.' Though she feels nothing but disgust for her fellow humans, she is intelligent enough to realize that usually the best way to make people vulnerable to her work is to earn their trust, something she does with a combination of false charm and what beauty she was lucky enough to receive, though it, no doubt, is as artificial as the smiles and words of joy she displays to the world around her.

History

Haelen's upbringing was...rather mixed. Born to a simple family in the town of Redridge, her parents always made sure their daughter had a roof over her head and food on the table, though their love was sparse at the best of times. Her father, a plain man with a love for ale matched only by a love for old stories, had dearly hoped for a son. A son, he had intended, to raise into a fine young man to fight for the King's Army, to experience the wonders of the world and come home with a hero's honor, and more importantly, a hero's wealth.

His hopes, however, were not to be - when Haelen arrived, the man considered his dreams ruined, and though he was never cruel to his daughter, his affection was far from overflowing. Quick to condemn and slow to give praise, he was a stern man for whom his daughter had little love. Haelen's mother was a kind woman, though feeble - she'd grown sick scant months after Haelen had been delivered into the world, and though her illness was not fatal she was often bedridden and too weak to deliver to her daughter the love and teachings that were vital to any growing child. Dead, but still alive, the woman was a sallow, frail shadow of a human being for the first twelve years of Haelen's life before her life was finally taken - not by the illness, but by a human being. Haelen's father had gone off to work in the mines for the day, and Haelen herself was out gathering ingredients for use in the night's dinner. She returned home to find her door broken open and the house ransacked, their meagre savings robbed from them and Haelen's mother completely still; her throat had been slashed, little more than a small, sloppy slit, almost like an after thought.

Nothing was the same for Haelen from that day forward - Her father grew even surlier, and she herself more despondent and reserved. It was not until she was fourteen that the man who finally murdered her mother was finally found, purely by accident, as one of the nearby farmers. His execution was public and brutal, the man tied to an executioner's block and beheaded with an axe that had not been sharpened in some time.

That day evoked Haelen's need. Her first victim was an unfortunate traveler from Elwynn - a man who had made the unfortunate decision to stay in the Lakeshire Inn. There had been no true reason for Haelen to begin that night - it had just, if questioned "felt right." The man had been found the next morning in pieces, to the horror and shock of the town residents.

There had been few others racked up amongst Haelen's body count - a few unlucky travelers, or townsfolk she found particularly annoying. One night, Haelen decided her services here went unappreciated - such small scale 'cleansing' would not make any sort of mark on the disgusting wound that was the sentient races of Azeroth. With the few treasures they still posessed in her bags, and her father's corpse - butchered in cold blood - behind her, Haelen left into the night for Elwynn, eventually making her way to the city of Stormwind. She made enough money begging on the streets to afford her first gown, and using it, seduced her way into the arms of a wealthy-enough businessman to suit her means for a night before slicing his throat and taking what she could.

Since then Haelen has gone mostly unchecked - using her charm and looks to deceive and seduce her way into the beds and closest rooms of men (and even some women) around the city, though never anyone incredibly famous or prolific, and the ill-gotten gains to afford herself a nice, simple home. Preferring to avoid targets she deems too difficult, Haelen preys mostly on weaker or more simple-minded victims, and though she has occasionally botched her attempts in ways that almost ended in her own death, the scene behind her is almost always the same - a still, butchered corpse and the room suspiciously lacking anything of value.
