Guarm's an old man with a bad attitude. He's not a fan of elves, and generally doesn't speak to them beyond what is necessary. Very stuck in his ways, he'll often walk out on an argument before ever trying to see another person's point of view. He finds magic in general to be a waste of time, and will often make fun of people for using it.

History

Guarm's childhood was not entirely different to many other Tauren. His birth tribe followed the nomadic ways of the time, and he enjoyed traveling to different lands. Possibly due to his father's influence, he'd always been cautious or even suspicious when encountering other races.

He took a mate at a fairly young age, a young female who he had known since they were calves. Once they were both of age, they formalized their relationship, and a couple of years later, Guarm's daughter was born. He settled into family life, and through most of his adulthood into middle age, this was enough for the man.

It wasn't until the various tribes began to settle, that Guarm's life began to alter. His mate and daughter shared his opinion that the nomadic lifestyle suited them better, and they collectively broke away from their old tribe to continue wandering Kalimdor.

One day while Guarm was out hunting, his family back in the temporary camp they had set up, a group of Centaur found the pair and wasted no time in slaying them. Caught off guard and outnumbered, there was nothing they could have done to escape. When Guarm returned, he was devastated to find the scene. The man remained by his fallen family's side for three days, stunned by grief.

He buried them himself, carrying them on his own back to Mulgore where he knew their spirits would be better left to rest. For himself, though, Guarm knew for sure that he could not remain in the homeland after this. He left on their graves a small note, "A man cannot stay in the place where he buried his love and his child."

For many years after this, he wandered the lands around Mulgore, almost systematically tracking down and killing Centaur. It was during this time, that he happened upon a small party of Grimtotem Tauren. He was as wary of them as they of him, but made it clear that he had no intentions to return to Cairne's domain for his own personal reasons.

He spent a few days learning about the group before he made the request to join. He was sincere in that he didn't know much about them to begin with, and he proved his skill as a warrior during the hunt which he joined the group on. His initiation involved taking the life of a Goblin woman in front of her mate, and letting the mate run free. This was to ensure that he would not try to return to the Goblin towns and be considered neutral to them.

Like that, he was accepted into the group. His body was adorned with the tattoos denoting his identity, a Grimtotem. He adopted their name and as time went by, began to forget his old one. To him it didn't have any meaning anymore - everything that Guarm Whitecloud had been, he felt, had died alongside his family.

He found he was not the only old Shu'halo in the group, and he and another elder - a woman - often found things to discuss in between their assignments. The man had no qualms about killing whomever he was asked to, but he began to realize this was not the case for this woman.

When the group came across a female Goblin and her two children, it fell to the elder woman to kill them. As she swung her axe down on the cowering family, she suddenly froze with the weapon just a few inches shy of their heads. The others in the group reacted immediately, shoving her aside and finishing the job.

She stood before them in silence, and Guarm could tell by her eyes that she knew and was prepared to face the fate of a traitor - execution. Despite this, he put himself before her as the group tried to descend on her. He was immediately dragged to the ground, one of the larger males wasting no time in carving his sword's etches across Guarm's body.

He was brutally beaten for what seemed to him at the time like an age. Placing a hoof on Guarm's head, the final blow was dealt to him as he felt his horns ripped from his skull by the male leader. Through some miracle he survived the horrific attack, waking up the next morning to find the group, the woman, and all of his possessions gone.

The disfigurement he received as a result of the attack ironically managed to shake the trail from most of the victims and the families of victims who had been seeking him out. For a few years afterward, he laid low to allow his scars to heal - both the physical ones, and the ones dealt to his mind from what he had seen.

He returned to Mulgore recently, on a whim. The man's first port of call was the graves of his mate and child, who he apologized to profusely for his foul actions. He vowed to try and make himself a better Tauren before he joined them and the other ancestors. The first thing he did was pledge himself to Cairne Bloodhoof, finally deciding to settle in the Bloodhoof Village as a soldier.
