Amidst all of these events, Gray continues to show an undying thirst for the arcane, as he is generally studying when not attending to other matters. Once a family man, Gray does his best to attend to family matters to do what is best for the lesser siblings of his family in what ways he can. Always weary, Gray keeps a watchful eye on all who surround him, having a slight case of paranoia and high regard for his personal safety.

History

Gray was born to a loving Gilnean Family before the Greymane Wall was constructed. Gray himself was an intellectual young fellow who was seen as an outstanding scholar in his school. Whilst his brother, Oliver, sought to fight for the Gilnean Army and serve his people, Gray was much more fascinated with the powers of Magic, exceptionally the arcane.

In time when Gray was a on the verge of manhood he was noticed for having such a link with the arcane, something that Gray had sought increasingly. Down the line Gray had to make a painstaking decision long before the Greymane Wall was being erected. Leave for the Kirin Tor and learn the magic of the arcane in depth, or stay with his family and slowly loose his promise in life.

Choosing the path of the Kirin Tor, Gray found himself shut off from his Homeland as the Wall was built, however he reveled in excitement upon visiting Dalaran. Little did he know his farewell to his parents would be his last, something in time he would regret. Becoming a trainee of the Kirin Tor, Gray shown much promise as he rose through the stages to graduation.

Being congratulated after graduating gave Gray confidence to fulfill his ambition to becoming a well known mage. Unfortunately, this was not to last. Gray obtained a book that contained many rituals to increase an individuals knowledge in the arcane. Sharing this with a handful of other initiate magi, the group traveled to the East of Dalaran in the Hillsbrad Foothills. During the ritual a critter decided to somehow enter the ritual and upset the balance that the group had so far kept, causing a violent explosion, sending many of the initiates into rocks and trees. Gray himself was thrust back into a raging river, being carried down the stream.

His associates searched in vain to find and recover him, however his body could not be recovered and was considered dead by the Kirin Tor. Gray awoke upon the shores of Alterac, and decided to seek temporary refuge at Stormgarde Keep. After regaining his strength and licking his wounds, he proceeded to travel back to the east, towards Thoradin's Wall. Eager to return to the Kirin Tor, Gray took no time in stopping, hoping to return to his studies within Dalaran's walls.

However, to Gray's wonder, Dalaran appeared... Different. Magi were preparing for something, however Gray could not put his thought on what was occurring. It was not long before Gray informed the Kirin Tor of his disappearance, stating that he was indeed alive and was only subject to a terrible accident. Time went on for a few days, and after watching the many magi, some being his friends ever since he became a mage, decided to take up the call to arms as Khadgar rallied some of the Kirin Tor to assist him and the Alliance Expedition into Draenor.

Gray at first was skeptical when it came to training, as there were a plethora of different fighting styles he could subject to. Gray focused on what would save him should his magic become useless or fail to work, and so he turned to the art of swordsmanship. Remembering the mock sword fights with his brother, Oliver, as a child. Gray decided to take up a blade and take the route of the Battlemage. Months passed, and training was harsh but thorough as Gray trained day and night to perfect himself and ready himself for the oncoming expedition. On the final day of residing in Dalaran, those volunteering were given a final chance: Stay in Dalaran or follow the Expedition.

Accepting this, he felt he made a mistake, worried on leaving his home and concerned upon what would lay ahead. At the same time he felt he had made the right choice, hoping to honor Gilneas in battle. The road to the Dark Portal was harsh, considering Ner'Zhul had already released the Orcs upon Azeroth. Battle after battle, Gray watched in agony as many of his friends whom he knew for years fell beneath the merciless savagery of the Orcs. Gray soon persisted, striding to avenge his brothers as he gave the Orcs the same fate they beset upon his friends. Countless days Gray spent battling the Orcs, considering them more of a pestilence than a race, Gray took it upon himself to name his blade "Orc Killer", considering the quantity of Orcs that had fell beneath the blade in battle.

Upon reaching Outland, he come to terms with Draenor's ultimate destruction, and assisted the Expedition in the shattered realm of the Twisting Nether. Gray battled long and hard, but grew tired of the battles as he grew homesick, pondering what become of Gilneas in the present time. In another instance, upon the battle for the Dark Portal, Gray realized that the fate of his Homeland would indeed suffer should he and the many of the Expedition fail to repel the Orcs. With one last act of Valor, the Alliance Expedition engaged Ner'Zhul's forces, holding them off long enough for Khadgar to seal the Portal, breathing more life into Azeroth.

However, this was not the end, as Gray soon fled to Shattrath with along with others including Khadgar, soon joining the Aldor in their fight against the Legion. Time passed and he met Lilly, his brother's wife that he knew before departing. Angered by her joining the Scryers, a bitter relationship sprung within the two for years during the war against the Legion.

Upon Kil'Jeaden's fall at the Sunwell and Illidan's ironic betrayal atop the Black Temple, Gray founded the Council of Wizardry, a group of magi of both the Aldor and Scryers who sworn to watch over the magical occurrences in Outland. Soon the War of the Scourge occurred, and news tragic news greeted both Lilly and Gray. Oliver Stone, Gray's brother and Lilly's husband was killed at the Wrath Gate following a combined operation by the Horde and Alliance.

Gray was deeply afflicted by the news of his brothers demise, however he harnessed the sorrow inside him so he could push the Council onwards. Three years pass and the Lich King was defeated, Gray becoming a shady character, distancing himself from others and practicing Arcane Rituals by himself. In time, Gilneas fell to the Worgen Curse and the Forsaken invade Gilneas. The news itself deeply angered Gray, and strode to learn whether his Nephew, David, was safe due to him being left within Gilneas at the time of his departure.

Soon Gray left the Council, leaving it in the hands of Lilly. Encountering David, now known as the Worgen Sorrowfang, Gray kept a low profile until revealing himself to David for an emotional reunion. The changes made to Gilneas give Gray the determination to ultimately join the fight to help repel the Forsaken and reclaim Gilneas for the people.

In his heart and mind, Gray knows he has made the right decision for once in his life...
