Personality

Gavner is an egomaniac. He understands other people may have ethical or even moral standards and so does he, when it's convenient. He views his action as as the right thing, making everything else wrong in his eyes. In his mind, the Scarlet Crusade is the center of the world, only holding respect for those of equal or higher rank than he, everyone else is mediocre. He's more than capable of doing all things vindictive and somewhat sadistic without feeling they are evil acts simply because he has the ability to commit them.

History

Born of common birth as a blacksmith’s son in Stormwind, Gavner grew up with his older brother. Gavner felt as if he was always living in his brother’s shadow. Instead of fostering any harsh feelings, this left him with a median temper and a tendency towards humility. Though he possesses the same square jaw, sharkfin nose, and brown hair as the rest of the family, Gavner's large and tall physique has left him to be odd and this was something he shared with both his father and grandfather who were both very tall men. Though he could not swing a hammer as fiercely as his brothers, years of practice fighting in the yard and an attention to detail has left him much stronger than he looks, with a proclivity towards using his natural speed and lack of caution in combat. He is also a fine blacksmith in his own right, crafting pieces that are more delicate and refined than those of his family. His older brother was always the more domineering and wild of the twins, often rebelling against the oppressive hand of their father and going on what he liked to call “adventures.”

The Light plays a large role in the family, Gavner never missed a service while doing charity work. The family held a customary seat on the pew closest to the altar.

When Gavner was at the age of 12, the orcs had invaded. Stormwind citizens, the ones that managed to get out, were sent scattering. Gavner along with his older brother had made it out alive, taking to the north for Lordaeron. Upon their arrival, Gavner's older brother began training with the other soldiers and priests, eventually becoming a paladin with the Silver Hand. At the beginning of the Second War, Gavner's brother left with the army to help reclaim their lands and to make a name for himself and his family. During the time of his brothers absence, Gavner followed his path, becoming a paladin as well but his motives were somewhat contrasting. Gavner had taken to amortizing his sins through service to the faith, and spends all of his free time at the church, helping themembers tend to the sick and hungry. He still spent his days working at the smithy, and it was through this work that Gavner created the war-hammer he still uses today, but when the other workers go home, Gavner stayed there to sleep on the cots.

It was through his staying in Lordaeron and his brothers return, even after the conflict of the Second War, that he met Claire Allerton. Gavner is a handsome fellow, thought he doesn’t know it. His movements are very precise and deliberate, and she liked his natural shyness and quiet kindness. For a time, the two of them were inseparable, until the utter destruction of Lordaeron. Gavner, his older brother and Claire had stuck together in their escape from the scourge, they were almost out but were attacked by a few stragglers. Both Claire and Gavner's brother were dragged to the floor, with the threat of all three of them being ripped apart, Gavner only saved one. Leaving the undead to claim Claire as a meal bought Gavner and his brother enough time to escape to safety.

After their narrow escape to their former home of Stormwind, Gavner and his brother looked for ways to aid in the Third War. What they were able to accomplish in Stormwind was little and it was here that Gavner received training as a paladin for the better part of two years. During their time back in Stormwind both Gavner and his brother heard rumors, especially amongst the church, that there was a formation of those who longed to reclaim their land of Lordaeron.

Gavner and his brother both joined up with the Scarlet Crusade, following their creation after their city was destroyed. Sharing the same life goal of purging the undead threat from their city and taking back what was rightfully theirs. For years the two served valiantly, though the paranoia and inner corruption had toyed with Gavner. Having to prove their worth was difficult at first for Gavner, he wasn't nearly as trained and developed in the Light like his brother, though this didn't stop him from working harder.

One night while Gavner and his brother were on a simple patrol route, Gavner slayed his kin, if it was due to the brain washing brought by the Scarlet Crusade or if it was his own inner guilt involving Claire, Gavner isn't sure. Immediately after killling his brother, Gavner repeatedly injured himself. Running his body forcefully into trees, slashing and cutting his own body to provide the ruse of an ambush. The twisted vision of his being able to still hold on to the Light even after the murder of his brother left Gavner feeling as if what he had done wasn't wholly evil.

Gavner joined his cause in moving to the Scarlet Enclave. There he stayed peacefully until the arrival of Archerus. Gavner did what he could to help hold back the destruction of the Enclave, but that was until Abbendis claimed they should move on to Northrend. Gavner followed ensue and helped with the formation of the Crimson Dawn in Northrend. What seemed like years and ages passed, Gavner aiding the Crimson Dawn to set right what years of magical abuse and manipulation by other-worldly sources has made wrong.

With the Lich King's demise coming to pass, Gavner had sought to turn away from the constant war only to find nightmares surfaced now as an adult. This brought him to cling closer to the Light in an attempt to purify himself. After the events of the Cataclysm, Hearthglen handed over to the Argent Crusade, the Scarlet Crusade was left with little. Their loss of Stratholme was even more devastating, losing many soldiers to Balnazzar and his treachery. Gavner joined up with the remainder of the Scarlet Crusade in the small area of the Scarlet Palisade. He is unsure what his order will do, or can do, but Gavner has made it his own mission to complete the original mission. Purge their lands free of the undead threat and take hold of what was so abruptly taken from them.
