Personality

Gaven is a well brought up young man. He can hold his own in a fight and has great ambition. His drive to learn more in the ways of strength rather than smarts saw him enlist into military service at the age of 16. Although he did not manage to appease his parents with a well rounded education he strives to achieve in a military career.

His ambition, although a strength, can also be a weakness, for he likes to enter the thick of things. He is a determined young man who never lets anything or anyone get in his way of what he wants to become. He has a strong will but can sometimes lose concentration. His quarrels with his father have forced him to move out into the big world, away from measly patrols and pickets.

He respects the law although he can have a right good time with his mates at the local Inn and will usually attempt a flirt with the ladies. His courage sometimes gets him into trouble but he takes full responsibility for his actions. Also, since he was born after most conflicts had already passed, he is quite naïve when it comes to matters of diplomacy between the Horde and the Alliance.

He wants to prove himself to others that he can become a great person even without a top-of-the-class education, to himself, to those around him and especially to his parents. He will always try to do the right thing while still having a good time in the process.

Other: Enlisted at age 16 into the Theramore guard for patrol and picket work. Now at the age of 18 he has recently been accepted as a marine in the Kul Tiras Special Forces.

History

Gaven Thorpe was born as an only child to his parents Bronen Thorpe and Mairee Shelton ten years before the Third war began. Bronen was born a Kul Tiras sailor in the royal navy and served on patrol boats moving from port to port around the Eastern Kingdoms. Mairee was a former Lordaeron citizen whom lived in the town of Southshore in Hillsbrad. Gaven's parents met whilst his Father's ship anchored in Southshore's small port. He met her at the local Inn for she was working there as a barmaid. Bronen's ship stayed at the port for the next month and the relationship grew from there.

You could say one thing led to another and they were happily married by Bronen's Captain onboard their ship. 9 months later, Gaven Thorpe was born a healthy baby boy. Both parents loved their son but Bronen, having lived with strict parents, was sometimes seen as hard on the boy. Gaven and Bronen never really had a father to son relationship other than the odd fishing trip. Mairee and Gaven went with Bronen on his sea journeys, visiting ports all across the Alliance Kingdoms. Because of the travel, Gaven never really had much of a proper education, but was taught the basics of life and knowledge by his Mother.

The peace ended once Arthas had returned from Northrend, releasing the Scourge and bringing about the Third War. Bronen secured his family's future and safety by staying with the fleet as it set sail for Kalimdor under the command of Jaina Proudmoore. Once they arrived at Kalimdor and work began on the Port city of Theramore, Bronin purchased a house within the walls for a more permanent residence for his family so they would finally have a place of their own.

After the few soldiers that survived the battle of Mount Hyjal returned, they were ready with a great selection of stories for the young ones. With their tales of fighting alongside green skinned Orcs and Night Elves, Gaven was captivated and dreamed of one day becoming a soldier, winning glorious battles in the name of everyone he cared for and the Alliance as a whole. He started fighting wooden dolls with sticks for what he told his Mother was "Preparin for glory!", to her amusement of course. His Father however was far from amused and always told the boy off for playing silly games.

Gavin was always spoken down to by Bronen and was always told his future was set in stone by his Father alone. Gavin of course had other plans, secretly going to the Theramore guards while they were on their break to ask for training with them. This amused them greatly but they helped the boy with his "training". The games were brought to a crashing halt, as well as the long lasting peace between the Horde and the forces of Theramore, once a fleet under the command of Grand Admiral Daelin Proudmoore, Jaina's own father, anchored off the shores of Kalimdor.

The standing peace that once existed was shattered. The cries of battle filled the air, until the Horde fought the armada back with the help of Jaina. But the cost of peace was the life of the Grand Admiral himself. His death brought about a ceasefire between the two allies and peace came over the lands once again. This event affected Gaven's Father greatly as he sees Jaina's actions as traitorous to the Alliance. Gaven, although very young, knew that Miss Proudmoore made the right choice, the good choice. He holds a lot of admiration for Jaina and believes in her values and ideals in place of Bronen's blind rage and unforgotten hatred for the Horde, of course he would never voice his thoughts out loud infront of Bronen and would become a yesman of sorts.

Gaven was never one to concentrate in class and much preferred to exercise or to learn the basics of sword mastery from the barracks guards when they were off duty. He is an able fighter and can become a great swordsman with more training. He failed to complete his homework which brought his grades down a fair bit. This infuriated his Father, not so much his Mother though as she knew from watching him learn from the guards where his destiny lay. She accepted him as the young warrior he was becoming, unlike his Father, whom demanded of him better results in school and never considered what his son would want for himself.

When Gaven turned the age of 16 he was of legal age to join the Theramore Guard, provided a parent agreed to let him become a soldier. His mother, without a single doubt in her mind, signed the paperwork in her name, giving her son the chance to walk the path he wanted to take. It is believed that Bronen never forgave his wife for ‘throwing their sons life away'; when in truth she aided him on his true course. He was never going to end up an educated man in the way his father wanted, in the classroom, but educated in the ways of war, self discipline and serving ones crown and country and being proud of it.

After spending over a year training in combat, patrolling and picketing, Gaven's thirst for adventure lead him to resign as one of the Guard to buy a ride on a ship heading towards Stormwind. His mother waved him off at the harbour, unaccompanied, saying goodbye to her only child. He waved his farewells and awaited adventures beyond the walls of Theramore and the Marshlands.

Now at the age of 18 he arrived in Stormwind and was recently offered a position as a marine in the Kul Tiras Special Forces which he accepted, swearing loyalty to the Alliance and Kul Tiras itself. Now under the command of Captain Agares Lius, he hopes to strive for his very best in combat and to excel as a young man on the path of his destiny toward a proud military career.

It has been a few years since Gaven was last seen. Among his training regimes under Agares Lius and the numerous operations undertaken by the Kul Tiras Special Forces, Gaven has honed his fighting skill and has learnt a great deal from the Marines. Uncomfirmed reports have pointed towards the Special Forces group being disbanded, possibly by their superiors in Kul Tiras, all that is known is purely guesswork.

A few wanderers travelling through Booty Bay have caught glimpses of a man by Gaven's description, fighting the many pirate bands that roam the coasts around the neutral port city of the Goblins. Whether this figure is the mere boy that came from Theramore or now a proud man in his own right is yet to be known.
