Gathanu is a very curious troll and very faithful to the Loa. Always wanting to explore ruins in search of relics or anything he finds interesting. He is usually very open-minded Troll, and pretty much accepts everyone no matter their faith or belief. Despite his open-mind he has issues with people who enjoy disrespecting their elders or grave sites. His interactions with Forsaken are strained because of his convictions; he pities most of them since they are the spawn of someone tampering with the dead and utterly despises Necromancers.

History

Gathanu was born into the Darkspear tribe, on their native island. His father, Jokree, was a witch-doctor and was taught to become one as well, while his mother died in child birth. He spent his days learning from his father about the Loa and voodoo magic, learning how to properly preform the rituals to appease the spirits, if he wasn't learning about the Loa, he was making his own brew, following careful instructions from his father. His father always told stories of the old Troll empires, these stories fascinated Gathanu so much he wanted to learn more about the other tribes and vowed to learn all he could about his race when he was done with his training. Gathanu was fifteen when the murlocs had attacked his home and fled to Kalimdor on the ships with the Orcs. His father stayed on Darkspear Isle to strengthen the warriors that stood to protect the tribe who fled onto the ships with his brew and chants, maybe his father just wanted to die on his home? All Gathanu knows is that left his Father and his home behind that day.

Fleeing from his home changed something in Gathanu, he wasn’t content to just interpret omens and appease the spirits, he wanted to be able to defend his people, and those who saved his people. Sadly all his father taught him were skills not meant for combat, his only skills where that of empowering his allies. So he followed the Orcs for a time, wanting to use his brew to empower his orcish allies just like his father did that fateful night.

He saw how the Orc shamans called lightning to fight, this interested Gathanu, because he has never seen anyone hurl lighting before. One night at camp after a long day he walked up to a shaman he had seen before, “Where did ya get dat power from mon?” He said to the orc. “This is power is not my own young Troll, this is a gift of the elements that shape our world.” Gathanu nodded his head, wanting the orc to continue, “I have a relation with the elements, they lend me their strength when I am in need.” Gathanu looked at the Orc, “I can undastand dat, it be like how I commune with da spirits.” He spent a week learning talking to the orc, learning all he could, then an idea formed in his head, he decided to learn how to use the elements like the other orcs. He found a spot secluded spot in the harsh environment of the Barrens. For two years he stayed in the Barrens, learning to channel the elements. He communed with the Loa God Shango, the controller of storms. With the power granted by Shango, Gathanu learned to call lighting to strike his enemy's and it was his step on his new path He stopped his training when he could perfectly use the elements of earth and fire.

It was time for him to go his new home on Echo Isles, he was shocked to hear that the Darkspear had lost their island given to them by the Orcs. He chose to stay near Sen’jin village, helping to defend it and offer any assistance to his fellow Horde members for many years. After Vol’jin retook the Echo Isles he moved over there to help rebuild. His work being done and believing that his people had a safe home he remembered his dreams as child and thought it was finally time to set out on his adventure.
