Personality

Alignment: Lawful Good.

He is a very focused and warm hearted man. His patience seems to know no bounds in most situations. It’s clear he tries not to get stressed out over small things, carrying himself with a scene of “I have better things to do" or better stated he carries himself with self-fulfillment, always moving on one goal to the next. He treats life like a long journey you make one step at a time, and as long as he taking steps then he feels fulfilled. He greatly enjoys going to the tavern and sharing a drink with friends though it seems he always orders off the nonalcoholic menu, he simply likes to keep a clear head finding little enjoyment in being drunk. When faced with something that troubles him he tries to do something so that things would lean towards good or at least not turn out bad. He allows himself to believe in gray situations and it grants him a peace of mind when things are not just black and white.

History

He was a young boy when the orcs took over Stormwind for the first time. He remembers being a refugee and having to keep up in the long trip to Lordaeron. His neck was burned when embers fell on it as he fled for his life out of the city. He became separated from his family in the chaos, and sadly when the refugees were rounded up to travel to Lordaeron, no one was there to claim him. Confused, hurt, and afraid he did all he knew how to do at that age, he simply did what he was told to do.

A foot soldier noticed Garren's heart-ache, and even though war orphans were common place, this child was different in this soldier's eyes. He did not adopt Garren but gave him reason to carry on. He taught Garren of the Light and that it rewards noble people. The soldier treated Garren as if a squire, he gave him chores to help around, told him to be strong so the other refugees would see his strength and draw from it to carry on. He crafted the boy a wooden shield and gave him a hammer. Garren’s eyes lit up when these gifts were given to him, and he was told as long as he kept to his chores and inspired strength in others he could keep his new toys. This taught him how to press forward in the mist of fear or pain, things still had to be done and if he surrendered to his own pain, then he will be useless to prevent the pain of others. Hard lessons for a young boy to learn but it’s what was needed at the time, he clung to them because he needed to believe that there was good, so he became a light to those around him so he could become his own light in darkness.

Garren grew up with this soldier. When they reached Lordaeron the man did not have the heart to leave Garren to the orphanage. As he grew older he was taught the basics of combat by his adopted father and both were active members of the church. By the coming of the second war he was of barely of age to fight but for his service in the church and his up brings under a soldier he was one chosen to be a part of the Silver Hand when it was founded. Garren jumped on the chance, he wanted to take the lessons his mentor gave him, about showing strength and courage to the battlefield. He buried himself in his studies as he did when he was younger. Focusing on continuing to be a light in a dark world but he would be lying if he said those were the only reasons. He feared orcs and that fear made him want to fight them, to get them back for the terror they created in his life.

Though he became a Paladin, and he could see the fruits of his labor, something was lacking for him, though he wasn't sure what it was. Battle after battle, victory after glorious victory he still felt that there was just something wrong in his heart. He survived the second war, with the dawn of the third, retaking Stormwind, and the fall of Lordaeron, the pain that stalked him his life only grew. He dove deeper into his studies, feeling he wasn't doing enough. He found himself in Kalimdor, in a spot so familiar except this time his mentor was not there. Refugees once more in a desperate attempt to survive, except this time, they were running from undead. It made him think back to when he was a boy after the orcs destroyed his home. So was not made easier for him when he received word that he would have to work with orcs.

He was lucky enough to know orcish before having to work with the orcs. Though he didn't like it, he followed orders and played nice with the new allies. It didn't take long for him to notice a difference in these orcs than from the ones that first destroyed Stormwind, or it didn't take long for him to imagine the difference, of which he was not sure. With the battle of Hyjal quickly approaching, he had to quickly overlook the past to focus on surviving long enough to have a future.

At the battle of Hyjal, he learned the true meaning of fear. Scores of undead in front of them, the raging orcs behind him and what he would describe as "giant warrior women" in the mix of it all; now he had seen everything. Afterward when the battle was won and the celebration that ensued from their victory the pain that had troubled him since he was a boy finally met some ease. At the final victorious moment he realized the world is not as dark as he thought growing up. The ones who had destroyed his home were now his allies in battling the ones who forced them to do it. It took a long time to come but after that victory he was able to forgive the orcs for Stormwind on a personal level and though he still studies the light its now for a reason that doesn't guilt him as his hate for orcs did.

After Hyjal he seems to take a hiatus. Working with what was left of the church, he moved place to place taking part in work he described as simply protecting Azeroth. This led him to having contacts in the Aldor, Shattered Sun offensive and eventually the argent Crusade. He has always seen a great deal of war in his life and he admits he grows tired of battling every evil that shows its ugly head. His time in Northrend and seeing so much blighted earth, a new passion was born in him. He began to worry about Azeroth itself and the wars that have raged on the world. With a new challenge ahead of him, he now sets out hoping to find a way to use the light he has grown up with to reverse some of the damage the world has faced over the years of constant war.
