Appearance

Personality

Emese presents a calm, pleasant face to the world. To others she may appear to be tranquil and peaceful, with simple desires; however internally she feels her life intensely. The kal'dorei woman is very sensitive and in-tune with people's feelings and is genuinely interested in understanding people, she may be reserved in expressing that emotion.

Emese is an intense individual who values depth and authenticity in her relationships and holds those who understand and accept her in especially high regard. She is usually quite perceptive about other people's feelings and motives, and is consequently able to get along with all sorts of people. However, she keeps her true self reserved from others except for a select few, with whom she forms close and lasting friendships. She is fiercely loyal once committed.

She is usually flexible and congenial unless one of her core values has been violated; in this case she stops adapting and becomes a staunch defender of her beliefs, fighting passionately for her beliefs. In such a situation the kal'dorei woman would be uncharacteristically harsh and rigid.

Emese has a strong need for harmony; she does not like conflict and will go to great lengths to avoid it. If forced to face a conflict, she will approach it from the perspective of her feelings. She places little importance on who is right and who is wrong, instead focusing on the way that the conflict makes her feeling. She doesn't really care whether she's right or wrong; she just doesn't want to feel badly. This trait sometimes makes her appear irrational and illogical in conflict situations.

History

Emese Mistchaser was born nearly two thousand years ago on the island off the coast of Kalimdor then known as Kalidar. She was a rambunctious, mischievous child who, at times, overwhelmed the collective community by which she was raised. Her parents were artisans; she a potter and he a carpenter.

At an early age the young kal'dorei woman exhibited marks of the martial prowess that might make her a good fighter. At the encouragement of the people who raised her, Emese joined the Sentinel army. As a new recruit she underwent extensive training, becoming proficient with simple and martial weapons as well as the tactics employed by the Sentinels. During that time she gained further maturity and confidence, though a remnant of her childhood mischievousness persisted.

In time, she was selected to join the huntresses, the elite cadre of the Sentinel army who ride atop sabermounts in battle. Her training was extensive and included frequent combat drills intended to hone the skills that she had acquired as a recruit. Emese served as a scout within the organization, often going ahead of the larger force to examine the area and relay information with the aid of the owls of the forest.

Taelos Feathersight and Druidism

During one such excursion, she encountered Taelos Feathersight. A Druid of the Talon, he had in times past hibernated in Ban'ethil Barrow Den, one of the sacred sites intended to house druids as they entered the Emerald Dream. As the small barrow den was located on the island of Kalidar near where Emese had grown up, this provided common ground from which a friendship grew. Prompted by an interest in his work, the two had many discussions about druids. In time, these discussions became lessons and soon Emese was following the path of the druid under Taelos's tutelage and guidance.

Now in her second millennium in life, Emese left the Sentinels to dedicate her time and efforts to her new path. She became one of the few women druids who existed, but had no association with the Cenarion Circle. Though possessing a natural aptitude for druidism, the kal'dorei woman's training was difficult; Taelos was a firm taskmaster and often pushed Emese to the limits of her endurance. Under his wing, they embraced the Emerald Dream together for decades at a time, learning more about the environment during their travels.

The Battle of Hyjal Summit

Ten thousand years after the first invasion, the Burning Legion threatened Azeroth again. Emese and Taelos, their hibernations interrupted by the sounding of the Horn of Cenarius, learned of the events that had transpired since they had last entered the Emerald Dream. Like the other druids, they pledged to aid in the fight against the Legion and headed for Mount Hyjal. They watched as Archimonde and his three remaining lieutenants laid siege to the Alliance and Horde camps. As the archdemon continued in his implacable efforts to reach the World Tree, heedless of the kal'dorei forces harrying him under the command of High Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind of the Sister of Elune, the two druids joined the fight with their people.

When Archimonde reached the Tree, Malfurion Stormrage sounded the Horn of Cenarius. Thousands of Ancestral Guardians rose up and attacked Archimonde, detonating in an explosion so large it destroyed him and much of the forest atop Hyjal Summit. Nordrassil had suffered much damage, ending the night elves' immortality. While Emese had survived both the battle and the World Tree's detonation, Taelos appeared to have died in the subsequent devastating shockwave.

Set adrift by the twin losses of her shan'do and her immortality, Emese briefly contemplated rejoining the Sentinel army but decided against it; she chose instead to continue her training as a druid. Though she had admired the actions of the Cenarion Circle under Malfurion's guidance, Emese chose not to join even after the organization began accepting women. The kal'dorei woman was revolted by Arch Druid Fandral Staghelm's decision to create a new World Tree, especially in light of his selfish motivations. She is of the opinion that Nature itself abhors what has been done. She associates with the Cenarion Circle and benefits from their collective wisdom, but she will not join their ranks.
