Personality

Eliya is the perfect Silvermoon noblewoman: Polite, shy, and demure on the outside with hawk-like determination and unrivaled thirst for power deep within. This political mindset coupled with her talent as a mage makes Eliya quite the formidable Elf, but of course she has the same flaws that many her people have: Arcane addiction, narcissism, pettiness, and racism, to name a few. Eliya is, of course, devoted to her nation and its people. She does not leave Quel'thalas and its problems often, and when she does it is for very important reasons. She was a believer in Kael'thas right up until the point where the vast majority of Silvermoon was against him for trying to summon a giant demon-lord.

Although she enjoys manipulating people for the sake of manipulating them, Eliya still prefers to handle most tasks herself. This stems from a lack of trust in anyone else's abilities, as well as a compulsive wish to show off her own skills. She fancies herself to have a natural talent for leadership as well.

Other: Eliya is most talented in the offensive spells. She strongly believes in the original Sin'dorei tactic of fighting fire with fire to deal with the Scourge and the Burning Legion, and though Eliya is not a Warlock, she has nothing against Fel magic or those who use it, as long as they do not lose control and start trying to summon giant demon-lords.

History

Noble family. Silvermoon City. Once you've heard one such tale, you've heard them all, and the Sunstrikers are no exception. Eliya was taught by tutors in the same manner as every other child from a wealthy family in Silvermoon, and she knew from a young age that she was to be a mage eventually. She spent little time with her parents or two older brothers. Eliya did have a few "friends" from other noble families, but these were mainly a result of her house's political alliances. There wasn't a lot of time for leisure in Eliya's childhood, but this was only because of her strict schedule.

Most of Eliya's life was very sheltered. She wasn't the type of noble girl to sneak away from home and mingle with the commoners, as a few of her acquaintances enjoyed doing. She was grateful for her noble lineage, her race, her city, her parents, her king, and all of her people. Eliya certainly never expected this perfect world to be taken from her, even after the Horde made it into the southern forests of Quel'thalas during the Second War, which should have been a warning that their homeland not as impenetrable as once thought.

The Scourge. No great enemy had ever penetrated Quel'thalas's borders before. Even the Orcs had only pushed slightly into the forest boundaries before being driven out. Nobody was prepared, least of all the young noble mage just recently out of apprenticeship who was told to fight for her country. The magic Eliya had been taught was for practical purposes. Making brooms float on their own, conjuring baked goods, traveling large distances in the blink of an eye... None of it had prepared Silvermoon's Magisters for a great war. The arrogance of the Quel'dorei forces in thinking they would never even have to fight lost them the war. The Sunwell was destroyed. They were renamed the Blood Elves. Sin'dorei. It was to honor their fallen kin. It all happened so fast. Eliya survived the Third War through luck, not through skill. Her father and eldest brother had survived as well. Their house in the eastern half of the city remained standing. Only the buildings in the western section were completely ruined. An expedition to Outland to find new power sources? Her father went. A new order of Paladins called the Blood Knights? Her brother joined. An order of elite Silvermoon Magisters called Blood Mages? Eliya wanted to, but she was still young and unskilled in offensive magic. It was because of this order, and because of the near-death experience her people had just gone through, that Eliya started to learn to fight with her arcane abilities.

Kael'thas betrayed them all? Why would he steal her brother's source of power? Why would he ally with demons? Weren't they supposed to control the demons? No matter, the Shattered Sun Offensive drove the demons out and allowed the Blood Knights to use the Sunwell. Eliya was happy that her brother had managed to finally find a permanent source of energy, but the addiction only intensified in Eliya and all the other non-Light-wielding Sin'dorei.

As Eliya continued to train, and continued to take in Fel to sate her addiction, her Light-wielding brother went off to fight the Scourge in Northrend with the rest of Azeroth's armies. He did not survive. This left Eliya as the only living member of House Sunstriker, or at least the main branch. As a woman, she cannot continue the Sunstriker name, but she feels she must at least make sure her family's bloodline does not end in disgrace.
