Personality

Eila Goldbriar is an enigma to herself sometimes. Most often, she takes great measures to hide her identity as a user of Fel magic; this leads her to acting many different ways depending on who she's around. Around anyone but those the closest to herself, she acts fairly childish. In this frame of mind, she can often be found tending to friends and often goes out of her way to help others.

History

Eila Goldbriar was born to a moderately affluent family in the area that is now the Ghostlands. Her parents owned their own merchant company which Eila would frequently help with as a child. She was an only child after her older brother passed away from an attack on a nearby Troll village, and so her parents put much time into helping raise her. She never knew much about her brother, but, from what her parents had told her after the fact, he was "a very courageous fighter and often helped the Kingdom of Quel'thalas in its small skirmishes with the forest Trolls". Because of these stories, she's always held a deep affection for her brother, even if she didn't know him growing up.

When she was still a child, she unearthed a secret of her father's. She learned that he had been having an affair with another woman for almost a century now. Afraid of the collapse of her family, Eila agreed to withhold this secret from her mother. And she did keep silent; she has never spoke of it with anyone. Although she kept silent over the matter, this eventually led to her disliking of her father, even if she wouldn't admit it herself.

When the Second War broke out, Eila was still living on the same plot of land as her parents and played a much larger role in their business of trading. However, when the war reached the outskirts of Quel'thalas, the Goldbriar family worried. Even though the Orcs were inevitably defeated by the Alliance, Eila was urged to begin training as a mage, and she did so. Her mother died of disease during the war, but she had been a mage herself; this pushed Eila to follow in her mother's footsteps as well. Through the war, and the years following, she grew steadily in power and ability as she had relocated to Silvermoon City.

Eila joined the many that sought cover and successfully survived the invasion upon Quel'thalas. Surviving the invasion brought more hardships though; as a mage growing in power, the effects of losing the Sunwell substantially took their toll on Eila. Naturally, like mostly all High Elves at the time, she had turned to Fel to ease the pain of withdrawal. She took the energy source with caution, knowing well of its effects.

It was during this time that she was approached by an old friend of her father's. After learning of her father's death during the invasion, she slowly grew to become friends with the man that knew him and he often shared stories with her of when she was young. As their friendship grew, Eila soon began experiencing more violent urges to use Fel magic. When she confided in her new friend, he offered to help her further her training in using Fel. Her father's friend from long ago had taken an affinity to Fel magic himself, becoming a warlock some time ago. Now, with Eila's growing dependence on Fel energy, she accepted his deal and began rigorous training with him. While skeptical at first, she continued on training; and, as she continued, she quickly grew more accustomed to the exhilarating new median of magic.

With the Sunwell soon restored, the practice of using Fel magic was soon frowned upon once more. Because of this, Eila and her mentor took a much more quiet approach to their training. At the height of this training, Eila began to succumb to the effects of corruption; her thoughts soon led her to believe that her mentor thought of her as a danger to himself. Driven by the effects of this minor corruption, her mind soon reasoned that she had to kill him before he killed her. And so, she did. During a session of their training in the forests of Eversong, she successfully murdered her mentor with an enchanted knife in a secluded part of the forest. With that "threat" behind her, she soon began to look for new venues to further her training.
