Personality: Edric is an introvert first and foremost. He generally mistrusts people, especially those with power and enormous wealth. Edric is not quick to talk about himself or his past, and frequently uses pseudonyms. He can be very emotionally driven and impulsive, but hates attracting attention and prefers to stay out of people's sights. Edric sees the world as a dangerous and mistrusting place, choosing to ‘survive rather than live'. Because of this mentality he rarely takes part in extravagances, focusing more on how to get through the day.

History: Edric Luven was born in Stormwind during the end of the Second War, in one of the many crammed communal homes set up by the military at the time. He was born the youngest of five children and wasn't named until a week after his birth (the mortality rate of infants at the time was extremely high due to the closed quarters and diversion of funds to the war effort). His mother was a poor beggar waiting for her husband to return home from the south. Only two weeks after Edric 's birth, however, she received news that he had died in battle. With four other children to take care of and no husband coming back to support her, Ed's mother felt she had no choice but to abandon her child. Edric was left in alley of the commons, and remained there for half a day before Brother Maybald found him and took him to the Northshire abbey for foster care.

The abbey was a poor place to grow up. The amount of church followers had grown immensely at the start of the Second War, but donations were very rare as all expenditures that followers had were directed to the war effort. Ed spent most of his day as a child working in the vineyard, under the apprenticeship of a Brother Ress; all of the orphans at the abbey were groomed to work in service of the light. Brother Ress was never unkind to Ed, and Edric quickly began to see the priest as the father he had never had. When Ed was seven, though, Brother Ress betrayed him. The priest had a taste for cards, but gambling was frowned upon by the church. He had accumulated a debt that he could not pay off, and in a panic he offered the debtors Edric. An orphan with no ties or accountability, save for the orphan-filled abbey, wasn't so hard to come by in those times. The debtors, none the less, accepted their potential slave-laborer. Ed went from picking grapes to cleaning rags and horses. He went from sleeping in the abbey cellars to sleeping on bare forest ground. The only parent figure in his life had betrayed him, and now he was a slave.

For the next ten years Ed lived a life of complete servitude. His owner was cruel and unsociable to him. They were a meager gang of ruffians, based in the heart of Elwynn Forest, whose members frequently changed. Their leader, and Edric's true owner, was a man called “Mad Mog.” Edric avoided insanity by pretending his duties were that of a squire, and Mad Mog was a knight. It was a far-fetched and stupid fantasy, but it kept him from giving up his soul to slavery. Not all of the men in the gang were always mean to Ed, though. Sometimes a ruffian would come along who would try and teach Edric swordplay, or words, or even history. Words and history were always too complicated for him to latch onto, but swordplay was easy. He started to practice on his own at night and began to develop a modest skill that didn't involve gathering food or cleaning equipment and horses. By the time Ed was seventeen, Mad Mog had died of infection and nobody was left who truly thought of Edric as a slave. It didn't dawn on him that he was free to leave the gang until he forgot to scrub a ruffian's mail vest and received no scolding for his error. He fled to Stormwind.

Edric hadn't known what it was like to be free since his childhood. He was ignorant, without possessions, and begging in the streets of Oldtown. He began meshing in with the other homeless children and teenagers of Oldtown, quickly forming pick pocketing groups and generally roughing it together. As he grew older, most of his friends saw more profit in joining the military. Ed, having grown a hatred for people with power, refused to be a part of the military. He remained in Old town doing small time jobs for various low life people, trying to make something of his impoverished life.
