Skills and Abilities

  • Shadow Adept - As a Dark Ranger, Drael may use shadows to envelop him, providing him with cover from sight so long as he does not move, nor disrupt the spell.
  • Necromancy - Drael has a limited number of necromancy spells such as imbuing his arrows with dark energy. He may also raise a ghoul, although it is not very strong and requires a great deal of magic which limits his use of it.
  • Life Drain - Another spell known to him is Life Drain, which drains life from an enemy and in return, heals him. The downside to this would be that although it does heal him, the rate at which it does so is not fast enough to make it effective in combat. Unless he uses it on a helpless victim or was not actively in combat or being targeted, it would hinder him in battle.

Appearance

Usual Garments/Armor: Drael wears a set of dark leather armor, mainly black with accents of blue. The armor is made up primarily of leather, but has chainmail crafted into it in vital spots for added protection. The only time he isn't wearing it is when it requires repair.

Personality

As a human, Drael was very quiet and temperate. Duty, family and his personal set of morals were all that he truly cared for. After being raised from the dead, he lost nearly all of this. For years he viewed undeath as a curse and would throw himself in harms way at the first chance simply to rid himself of it. As time went on and the reality of undeath set in, he became more accustomed to who he was now. This eventually grew to fanaticism for everything undead and unholy. Although some would label him cruel and mindless, he finds purpose in everything he does and fully believes that what he does is for the betterment of all Forsaken.

History

Born in Lordaeron to a family of commoners, Drael spent most of his youth helping out with his fathers blacksmith shop. When he was still a child, he played with the weapons and armor his father crafted whenever the man had his back turned. Once he was old enough to actually swing a sword and knock an arrow properly, his father taught him to fight to the best of his ability, in exchange for helping around the shop even as he approached adulthood. As the youngest of three siblings, he always looked up to and envied them. They were the first in his family to join the army of Lordaeron, so naturally Drael did too when he was of age. The rest of his young adult life was spent honing his skills.

Unfortunately, that day came sooner rather than later. Drael was part of a brigade within the Capital City itself and was slaughtered when Arthas returned to the Capital from Northrend. He along with the rest of this fellow soldiers were raised from the dead just as quickly as they were killed. He was one of the many that travelled under Arthas' command to Quel'Thelas, where they broke through the mighty elven gates and marched on to Silvermmon, killing everything in their path. For the remainder of the Third War, he fought alongside the Scourge as a mindless minion of Arthas.

Perhaps the biggest turning point in his life, Drael was released from the servitude of Arthas alongside the rest of the Forsaken. This is what he himself calls his rebirth. For days he wandered, unsure of what to do or what would come next. He had no home, no family, no power and no purpose. With nothing else to do, he would continue wandering for several more days before being spotted by a forsaken sentry. After being brought into camp and being brought up to speed along with the rest of the group, he continued on with them and fought alongside them until they won freedom.

When the war finally ended and all that was left in Lordaeron was a shadowy husk of what it once was. Drael left in search of a new path to pursue within the ranks of the Forsaken. This led him to the Dark Rangers, who were not initially keen on teaching a Human. After earning their trust and completing all the trias set before him, Drael was finally named as an apprentice and taken under the wing of a Dark Ranger. When the war against the Lich King broke out, Drael was sent to Northrend to server under the Hand of Vengeance. While this kept him mostly in the Howling Fjord, he also saw action when returning home to fight in the Battle for Undercity.

The years between the death of the Lich King and the Shattering were mostly filled with scouting missions that took him all over the North half of the continent and occasionally back to Northrend. With the Forsaken making it through the Shattering relatively unscathed, he again returned to war when the war between the Forsaken and Gilneas began. Although he was only present for the initial push into Gilneas, Drael had did his part throughout the war, acting as a general and occasional trainer back at High Command.

Following this, he left his post and now scouts throughout Lordaeron.
