Personality

Alignment: Lawful Good

Dilan is happy-go-lucky and goofy, something that annoys most of the other Church members. He has an almost, childlike personality, dealing with many problems like an angsty teen. He is relatively naive and simple, being slow to understand a principle or situation, and often requiring an oversimplified analogy in order to grasp what is being explained to him. Overall, Dilan responds best to competition and possesses a great degree of confidence in himself.

He is a good soldier and will do most of what anyone in power will tell him. Unless he -truly- believes otherwise and that the person is not being themselves. He is also a typical paladin, willing to step in to stop confrontation or protect others. Usually with a glamorous entrance. He believes that everyone deserves a chance for redemption and is more than willing to provide.

History

Dilan Cornelius Vandral was born to a rather wealthy family who originated from the kingdom of Alterac, near the foothills of Alterac Mountain, but moved to Lordaeron to protect themselves before the Second War. Things, did not go well for the young noble, however. He was an unwanted child, a mistake. Throughout his childhood, his parents came into little contact with the boy, placing a nanny to care for the boy. She would feed him, clean him and, basically do their job. However, this nanny was not exactly the sanest of women. She regularly 'forgot' to feed him and would think daily of interesting ways to 'lose' the child. Dilan lived his early years with little attention and little fun. Which only served to create a natural rebel.

As a young boy, his father was killed in the Second War, leaving his mother and the nanny to care for him. Naturally, by this age he had learned to feed and bathe himself, considering no one would do it for him. When asked to do something by anyone, he would tell them to shove it before retreating to his closet of a room. Dilan would spend many days out in the wilderness, just to get away from it all for a while before returning home for food and cleanliness. He would often draw on the walls in his house, to annoy anyone and everyone who saw it. His mother, however, simply ignored them as her servants would clean the mess themselves. His mother, forsook the name of Vandral to avoid suspicion about her Alterac heritage. This was done to protect the mother from the ensuing slaughter that happened when the Alliance discovered Alterac' treachery. He continued to act this way, regardless, until his early teens.

It was during his teens, where he met Sylvester. An older man, who lived in a relatively small house not too far from where the boy was situated. One day, Dilan ran to the man's house and began painting on his door, thinking him to be gone. When the door opened, Dilan suspected he would be yelled at and was ready to talk himself out of it. However, he was surprised to see that the man laughed. Inviting the boy in, he began to talk with the boy and learn much about how he was treated, despite being a noble. He asked him if he would like to direct his stress in another form. Dilan, was naturally curious and wondered what the man thought. From then on, Sylvester taught Dilan how to protect himself and others, instructing a strict disciplined course. Even though Dilan continued to pull pranks at his house and at the nearby homes, they became less and less as he learned to fight. The weapon the boy felt he was naturally able to wield, was a greatmace. With the Scourge closing in on Lordaeron, he couldn't bear to stand with his mother as they tried to defend their land, so he joined Sylvester and together the two followed Jaina Proudmoore to Kalimdor. All the while, learning more about the world and about fighting.

As the Third War started, Sylvester stayed behind with Dilan in order to give the teen a choice. Continue to perfecting his fighting, or choose a path of righteousness. Dilan inquired about this second path and was soon shown something that simply shook him. The Light. Sylvester was a paladin. Once a member of the Silver Hand, he felt that he needed to spend time alone and left them. He offered to teach the boy how to wield it and the code of the Church. Not completely convinced, but in awe of the power he saw, the boy accepted the offer to join the Light. And so began his training.

Four years... The boy was a squire to Sylvester, carrying his armor and weapons, even though the man never used them anymore. He polished and cleaned and soon learned to be a rather reasonable boy, instead of the rebellious trouble-maker of the past. He was taught the Three Virtues and eventually learned to wield it in battle, barely. His fighting was strong, but the boy had trouble wielding the Light. It seemed to come out in waves, when he needed it most and not naturally. If he swung at his master and missed, a wave of Light would occasionally burst out and knock the man to his feet. He thought it was strange. However, Sylvester felt that the now young man was able to advance to the rank. He may not be the most powerful paladin, but he knew the rules, he had the strength and, most importantly, he had the heart. Bringing the boy to the newly-rebuilt Stormwind, he brought the boy forward to the Cathedral.

After doing several of their tests, he was deemed worthy to join the Church as a paladin of the Holy Light. A man capable of defending his people and protecting the Light. However, tragedy struck as no more than a year later, Sylvester died. The old man, died in his sleep and was buried in the Stormwind Cemetary. Dilan felt hopeless. Until, he met Dame Archilia Lightheart.

The woman, treated the boy like a son and quickly grew protective over him. Dilan learned under her tutelage, what it meant to be a paladin of the Church and how he could help everyone. He worked under her until his promotion to a Blade within the Church and now works to protect the people in the name of the Light.
